Other than Kingpin, I am not at all interested in Echo.
The character could be interesting but not one I was excited to hear got a show. Kingpen and Daredevil help for me. But also the same could be said for the Netflix Jessica Jones, Iron Fist or Luke Cage shows. The Echo trailer looks like it could be similar to these and less "Disney". If so, then it may be worth a watch.
I can't even watch the trailer. The whine that happens every so often is painful. Does anyone know why the heck that is there?

It's supposed to be Disney's first R rated show (Maybe NR or MA, I don't remember). But definitely more like Netflix and less Disney Princess.

The whine?

Or do you mean the "Echo"?

I don't think TV has an R ratings in their rating system. It will probably be TV-MA as you suggested, which is the highest of the TV ratings (just above TV-14)

I believe you are correct, TV-MA. So hopefully closer to the Netflix shows.

It is also the first "Spotlight" character which is supposed to mean you don't need to watch any other shows before this one.

Just saw Marvel is abandoning the Kang storyline
This has been mentioned in the press every day for the last two months I think. There were lots of articles yesterday but we are still waiting on something official from Marvel (in the form of removing Kang Dynasty from the release schedule).

Did you happen to see anything official?

so the loki wrap up was the end of the multiverse saga sort of went out with a whimper i guess now everyone will have to find at least one more new reason to complain take that to the bank bromigos

It looks really good that Kang Dynasty is dead. Both the writer and director have been removed from the project.

I also saw a rumor that Galactus has been cast. Getting a Dr Doom/Galactus combo is the big bad a multi movie arc needs.

ok, cool, I have seen the same. Nothing official yet as movies lose directors all the time but this is strongly trending in the direction that Marvel will kill Kang Dynasty.

So now the question is will Marvel continue a multiverse story line even with out Kang? The Marvels mid credit scene seems like they will want to continue.

I have not been the biggest fan of the multiverse, but much of that was not enjoying Kang. If they can shoe horn in another big bad into the multiverse story line, it won't feel like they wasted so many movies on a theme they won't give a conclusion too.

Although I mostly agree, there have been a few: Daredevil, Moon Knight, Namor, Adam Warlock and Man-Thing all have potential, and personally I think Kang is very compelling (although I get the downside of the multi-verse stuff).
DD was either A or B list. I liked him and Spider-Man back when I collected comics.
DD was the reason we got Netflix originally and is still the best Marvel show made. But yes, introducing him to the MCU was new. His the the character they most need to get right. From what little we’ve seen, there’s hope.

I hope not. If they loved that storyline they would have just re-cast Kang. The Marvels was a huge bomb commercially so I question whether they are going to feel locked into a major multiverse storyline just because of some post-credits scenes.

There were rumors about Dr Doom, but I’m not sure that’s really needed with the way Loki ended.

Interestingly, it may fall on Deadpool 3 to help us figure out where we are headed as not only will Deadpool enter the MCU himself, he will bring the Xmen in as well. We just don't know how (or in what Universe) this will occur. So far, MCU has only shown XMen in other universes.

There have been quite a number of multiverses shown though....Quantamania was a new universe; Spider-Man connected the Sony Universe to the MCU; Dr. Strange introduced a whole lot of new universes along with America Chavez who can travel between universes; Loki gave us the TVA who can also traverse universes...I don't see why they would cancel that saga so quickly.

They could swerve into the Battleworld storyline with Dr Doom as a precursor to Secret Wars. They could still use the multiverse characters to pull from and build out the storyline. Could even swerve and go with the Beyonder and use that instead of Kang as the lynchpin - maybe the Beyonder appears amidst all the chaos and culls all Kang out of existence?

I wouldn't want to veer directly towards Galactus just yet. That's good for FF, Silver Surfer, maybe Dr. Strange.....but not an Xmen, Spiderman or Avenger level threat.

I wouldn't mind seeing a phase that would lead into the Kree/Skrull War. That would lend itself across characters/movies pretty easily. Introduce the Xmen and have the Gladiator appear as End Credit scene to recruit them. You already have a Fury/Marvel connection with the Skrull. It could even lead into an Avengers vs Xmen storyline/phase. Some good possibilities to come, but first you need to finish the multiverse arc to get all of the other characters into the same universe.

Before announcing Kang I was hoping this would be the phase of Galactus, bringing in SilverSurfer, the Fantastic Four, Dr Doom. Would hate for them to change courses to that now and potentially shortchange that group.

some news came out today, which indicated Marvel are now looking for a single director to direct both Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars which will be renamed into a two part story.

Still don't get why they don't simply recast Kang.
My son thought the guy who protrayed the High Evolutionary would make a good Kang. Said to retcon and make the HE another Kang Variant.

Thought he did a great job with the HE character. I wouldn't mind it.

Too bad. Jonathan Majors is awesome. The multiverse line is boring and lame but Kang time travel is interesting and he just added to it for me.

I really wish they'd get back to street level or even societal level with Spider-Man, DD, and X-Men. I can take or leave the cosmic stuff.

i think the truth is that the multiverse story line is complicated and people just arent grasping it i know a guy who says he is watching loki and likes it but has no idea what is going on and it might just be as simple as that for a lot of people so no matter who you recast into whatever role people just arent absorbing the source material and arent buying in as a result take that to the bank bromigo

I agree with this. Kang would have been awesome with Majors. I think they realized that recasting him wasn't going to work and they are moving on.

That's definitely a whine, not an echo.

What ever happened to Shang Chi? Aren’t his rings the same as the Marvel girl’s?
I don't think it was ever determined....only that it was providing a beacon to somewhere in space - but it's origins were unknown. I know there was some talk of them being tied to the Eternals, but I think that got shut down quickly since no one seemed to care for that movie/group of characters.

At the time I thought that the beacon was going to be an important part of the next phases for the MCU but I don't think the beacon was was brought up again in any movie or tv show.

We are suppose to be getting a second Shang Chi movie. The director who was removed from what looks like the now defunct Kang Dynasty movie is going back to helm the sequel for Shang Chi (he also directed the first one)

WTF is Madame Web?
This is one movie I'm not certain about yet....

Madame Web is a character from Spider-man comics who has her hand (literally) on the "web of life". Think of this like in Loki where each branch is a different universe, or altenate timeline. In Spider-man comics, there is a similar setup called the web of life in which Madam Web can see into these timelines/universes by touching the web. She can basically see into the future or predict future events.

So the movie Madame Web is an extension of the Sony Spiderverse, which includes all of those spider-man movies, Venom, the vampire movie (can't remember the name), and soon to be Kraven. Madame Web can interact with each spider-person from each alternate timeline/multiverse, bring them into the Web of Life and use them like pawns - I believe. This is what I'm recalling from comics, but it's been some time since I've read that area initially.

I thought we would've seen her in the Spider-verse animated movies, but I guess not. That would've made more sense to me instead of them using Spiderman 2099 as the figure head of that centralized/universal spider lair.

Just saw The Marvels. It was decent enough. Much more in the same vein as Guardians of the Galaxy than the more serious Earth MCU movies. It will probably bomb at the box office; but I do think once people get around to watching it; they'll be surprised by how much they enjoy it and its reputation in the MCU will age well.
The movie made me want to SIIIIING!

It's one of those moments being used as a bludgeon to attack the movie by people who didn't like it. But in the near infinite of the cosmos, there probably is a species that communicates by singing. It's a nice way to get away from a stereotypical alien encounter. It's not like the MCU hasn't adopted show tunes/songs into their repertoire either; what with the Broadway Avengers tune "I Can Do This All Day" in Hawkeye and I Don't Know What Christmas Is" in the Guardians Christmas Special.

This is probably only for super fans, but I have been reading the newly released MCU timeline book and so far it is fantastic.

I have yet to see if and how it will handle the "8 years later" goof in Spider-man Homecoming. :)

If you have a super fan in your family, this would make for a nice holiday gift

Captain Marvel was in the Shang Chi credit scene and has now come across the bangles. I think there was a lot of speculation (here and social media) about the rings and bangles being linked to Kang and would tie in like the stones did in the Infinity Saga.

I agree that was very likely to be the case.

And when you consider that the director of 10 rings was also going to be the director of Kang Dynasty, it makes even more sense.

Now that it appears Kang will be gone, they are going to have to pivot some how.

We know in the comics who the makers of the 10 rings were (the Makluans). Do the comics give the back story to the bangles in terms of who made them?

I don't know about the comics side. There is some history of them shown in Ms Marvel and the Marvels, obviously ancient. Not sure if they are as old as the rings or not...

I really hope they don't bring back the OG Avengers as rumored. Focus on moving forward with what you have introduced that do not have to be tied to Kang.

From a comics perspective, these are the Quantam Bands worn by Quasar and Captain Mar-Vell

The Quantum Bands were unique energy-manipulating devices of incredible power and relics of the Kree Empire. Although some texts claim that Eon created them, the exact origin of the Quantum Bands has never been revealed so it's possible that Eon actually acquired them from some unknown source.

Eon was another planet like being, similar to Ego from GtoG. He was Quasar's mentor in the comics for awhile. From the same link above:

The Quantum Bands are believed to be the weapons known to the Kree as the legendary "Power-Bands of Rinn" that were the prototype for the powerful Nega-Bands.[5] It has been observed that they bear a certain resemblance to the Kree Uni-Beam weapon.

Another interesting plot twist I didn't know until reading this wiki site:

Sometime between 200,000 years ago and the present, the Quantum Bands were acquired by the Eternal Kronos and given as rings to Kronos' son Mentor (A'Lars) and Sui-San for their wedding, attended by Eon. Mentor had asked his father to circumvent Eternal biology that prevented them from having true Eternal children (able to be added to the Machine that is Earth) and the rings allowed the couple to concieve two true Eternal sons, Thanos and Eros, although the former ended up being a disaster. When Thanos killed his mother, Mentor angrily threw the Quantum Band rings at his father and Kronos declared that they would oppose Thanos' villainy, always.

So the rumor is Anya Taylor Joy will be playing SILVER SURFER in the Fantastic 4 MCU movie.

Yeah I think I'm done
That cannot happen. No offense but just a total miscast if that is the case.
Don’t you need to like see how it is before making this judgment?
👍🏽 I’ll reserve judgment but it definitely seems like an odd match.
I don’t care if genders are swapped for most roles, but she could be so much better in other roles. (Initial take)

I’m looking forward to a somewhat similar actress coming into the MCU but rumors seem to be all over the place for Emma Mackey. With a role in blade being one option.

Generally yes, but the Silver Surfer has a definite image that is ingrained in reader's minds and she doesn't fit it. That large of a mismatch right off the bat would be difficult to overcome.

Nova is another powerful character, but does not have as iconic a look as Silver Surfer and I think she could do fine in that role.

Only thing ingrained in my mind is a super shiny silvery dude. Wouldn't recognize any facial features I don't think

I'd imagine she's playing another herald of Galactus...Nova.
Nova was scheduled to be a show but then was canceled. That might be because they decided to go this route. How does the character link to nova corps? Seems odd for the corps we’ve seen so far to be part of a herald of galactus.

There are 2 Nova's in the comics

- One version of Nova is a man named Richard Rider. He is a member of the Nova Corps. He is NOT a herald of Galactus

- The other version of Nova is a woman named Frankie Raye. She is a herald of Galactus but has no relation to the Nova Corps
