Marvin Harrison not expected to play Wk 5 (1 Viewer)

Caddy, Portis, and Harrison all on the same team. :deadhorse:
CJ2, AJ, Harrison and Maroney all on same team
This might make you two feel better...Try AJ, Harrison, Addai, Cadillac, Jordan and Delhomme all on the same team with Delhomme being my #1 QB.
I'm with ya: Bulger, Delhomme, Thomas Jones, Boldin, Jennings (he's back)what an awful year for injuries and bizarre season so far

Marvin Harrison (knee), Joseph Addai (shoulder), and Bob Sanders (ribs) all missed Colts practice on Wednesday.

"We hope to have them ready by the end of the week," coach Tony Dungy said. "But my thought to the team, what I told them is we have to assume none of them are going to play." Kenton Keith would start if Addai misses Sunday's game versus Tampa, and Dallas Clark could see more targets if Harrison sits out. Matt Giordano is Sanders' top backup at free safety.

Dungy: Assume Harrison's out

Colts coach Tony Dungy just finished chatting with Tampa media on a teleconference and didn't sound optimistic about the availability of injured All-Pro receiver Marvin Harrison.

Harrison, who suffered a knee injury against the Broncos on Sunday, won't practice today and remains a question mark for this weekend's matchup with the Bucs. He joins several other key Colts players -- S Bob Sanders (ribs), LB Rob Morris (knee) and RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) -- who are at least questionable for the game.

"I don’t think any of those guys are going to practice today," Dungy said. "We hope to have them ready by the end of the week. But my thought to the team, what I told them is we have to assume none of them are going to play."

So basically he is saying to prepare like they are going to be out and well see later in the week. So nothing for sure settled. What we do know is it is looking more and more like he is going to miss this week.

The bucs have a very good D again it seems. Any Manning, Wayne, Clark predictions without Harrisons, with Harrison?

did marvin get an MRI or anything this week? Just thinking that if he did that would singal sprain/strain/something worse type status. But if not, then sounds more like bruise and we'll see him after the bye week.

basically I don’t remember hearing about any tests that were done on the knee this week

Not to kidnap this thread or change the topic from current injury, but how much does Marvin have left in the tank? At his age, how long can he remain #1 WR in this team with the other weapons around.

I am torn between thinking he's about 1 year away from Rod Smith-ville or thinking he's Jerry Rice...and has another 3 or 4 years as a top 10 guy. This injury (assuming it's minor and he's back in a couple games) aside, what's he got left in the tank?

He is 35 and there are quite a few stats out there about how WRs fall apart at 35. However he sill is getting quite a few targets, when he is in there. Plus watching the Colts, unless injured, I don't see how he can't produce.

Oct. 3, 2007 - 11:16 p.m. ET The Terre Haute News calls Marvin Harrison's knee injury a "strain." The Colts have only referred to the injury as a bruise. After he missed practice Wednesday, Marvin owners should be seriously concerned that he won't face the Buccaneers Sunday. Aaron Moorehead would likely start in his place, with rookie Anthony Gonzalez and Dallas Clark working from the slot. Source: Indiana News

Stats like that are always interesting but of those 35 year olds in the study how many were surefire HOF'ers and playing on the best offense with the best QB in the league? Of course he's not going to go on forever but I think it's a huge mistake to make blanket assumptions based on a players age. In situations like this you need to watch the games, determine if he's getting the separation, getting the targets, etc. Even if he flops to the #2 (which he probably already has IMO) there is still plenty to go around as long as he's lining up as a starter.

I have Wayne and Clark
HEY!!! That's great!Hope you enjoy it when the fantasy gods come out and wipe out your team for getting excitement out of a hurt player.
Lighten up a little. this is fantasy football. Injuries are the facts of life and planning for them is part of the strategy. In no way do I read this as a "Glad that he got hurt and I wish he were hurt more". It's seems that this is just a expression of what everyone else is thinking if they have any Colts offensive player or Tampa Defense. I don't think anyone wishes harm to a great player like Harrison. I wish him the best. He is great for the NFL and his team. However being a little excited that this may open up other players opportunities is part of the FF world.Just my two cents worth.

NFL Network insider Adam Schefter, appearing live on "Point After," just told viewers he'd be very surprised if Harrison missed a game due to injury.

Practice probably isn't over yet, but bumping for any kind of update.

Mission impossible

Don't know what inspired me to try something that will make me look so stupid, but here goes. I'm going to try to decipher today's Colts injury report, just received via e-mail. This does not mean I know anything. I'm just going to take a shot at who I think will play and who won't, since the Colts have so many injury concerns that have prompted endless questions throughout the week.

First, the guys who are out, the easiest part. WR Roy Hall, LB Rob Morris (IR) and TE Ben Utecht. That means Utecht probably didn't pass his psych test, the one where the wrong answer is, "I'm Batman."

WR Marvin Harrison, RB Joseph Addai, S Bob Sanders, LB Freddy Keiaho, WR Aaron Moorehead and returner T.J. Rushing were listed as questionable. None of these guys practiced today. So, time for the gut feel. I'm guessing Moorehead and Rushing will be a go. Yeah, that seems rather harsh, but Keiaho would have practiced unless they told him not to, from what I know about the guy. He, like Utecht, has a concussion. So I'm guessing they are being cautious with him. Same with Harrison, Addai and Sanders. I thought Addai would play, judging by the fact I saw him three days this week. But I guess I was wrong. Unless the Colts' poker face has a tell and I'm just not getting it. I never thought Sanders would play this week, even after he told me he would be all right, but we have to expect Harrison is in the same boat. From what we know about Harrison, it wouldn't surprise me to see him show up for work and want to play. So I'm hedging a little here, but for now, I don't plan to see him.

LT Tony Ugoh and LB Clint Session practiced. I expect them to play. CB Marlin Jackson did not practice (team decision) but I think he's OK. I expect him to play.

So, let's review, for those scoring at home. Here's the checklist to give me a hard time about come Sunday ...

Harrison - Not expected to play (although I'm not willing to go all-in on this at a poker table, so to speak).

Addai - Not expected to play (same as the parenthetical expression above).

Sanders - Out, like there was any doubt.

Keiaho - Out, which explains why backup Tyjuan Hagler was smiling so much yesterday when I joked around with him. What the heck, give Freddy two weeks to rest the arm in addition to the noggin.

Utecht - Out.

Hall - Out.

Morris - We'll miss you, Rob, but it's the last we'll probably blog about you for a while.

Moorehead - Expected to play. Can't believe he would miss a chance to start his first NFL game. Wild Colts couldn't drive him away, right?

Rushing - Expected to play. Not sure we want Kenton Keith handling returns in addition to most of the carries if Addai doesn't play.

Ugoh - Expected to play. Ankle may be sore, but he played with it last week and I didn't see him miss any snaps.

Session - Expected to play. Look real hard on special teams, unless something happens to Rocky Boiman or Hagler, then maybe Session gets a crack at linebacker with the base defense.

Jackson - Expected to play. Don't know what the story was on the team decision, but unless I hear anything, I'm thinking it's minor.

That's all, folks. So go ahead, guys, prove me wrong. I won't mind it. I'm sure the fans want to see each of you play anyway.

Am I the only one who sees Harrison missing practice as non-news? Buress and Galloway sit out practice every week and always play. A vet like Harrison doesn't need to practice, so why risk aggravating it during the week? I share Schefter's view: he'll play.
