Mathews On Short Leash (1 Viewer)

It is too the point where I am contemplating starting Ronnie Brown over Matthews in PPR.
its to the point where we have to pray he has a good 2nd half and sell high for a real RB. hes nothing more than an RB2. Bad offense, plays only on 1st & 2nd down and doesnt get goal line looks.

That's assuming he plays om the second half. We haven't gotten any word on the severity of the injury yet.

Yes, indeed. Brown is getting all these cheap catches while I get 25 carries up the gut w/ Matthews for 90 yards.

Staggering incompetence from norv turner every week is all this is. They are giving a clearly significantly lesser talent entire drives in key situations every week. Browns 8 points a week would be so nice

He's played this drive so I don't think there is an injury
My bad I must have missed it. I mean he definitely injured his ankle I just didn't know how bad it was.
Ryan Mathews left Thursday night's game against the Chiefs with a left ankle injury.

Mathews was hurt in the second quarter and walked off the field gingerly to the San Diego sideline to receive a re-taping of the ankle. Not being able to stay off the trainer's table has been a knock of his during his short career, but this one doesn't sound like a major issue. If Mathews can't give it a go, Jackie Battle would handle early-down work with Ronnie Brown playing on third downs.

 He came back into the game

You can forgive him for not noticing.

Watching tonight, I've noticed that Mathews dances too much. On several runs, he tried to take it wide and lost yards, instead of taking what was there and getting a couple yards. You can't expect to hit a home run on every single play, an NFL lesson Mathews still needs to learn apparently.

Funny you mention this option. I bought low and now start Matthews in one of my two leagues. My second league is a PPR in which I own MJD and demarco Murray.... I Got handcuffed during the draft on both these guys so I'm left having to pick between Andre brown, Justin forsett, or Philip tanner this week. So I picked up Ronnie brown and started him haha. Wish he got in to the end zone on that catch before the end of the half. As a Bolts fan, i gotta say this has been one embarrassing first half of the year.... Fantasy and reality.

We were all fooled. He sucks.

its time to sell low. What Rbs should us Mathews owners target? Perhaps you can still find a believer. Maybe a Frank Gore or DMC or McGahee if youre really really lucky.

I dont think he sucks, but the fact is hes only a 2 down back and isnt even the goal line back. Its a bizarre 3 rbbc with Battle & Brown and as little sense as that makes its time for me to stop whining about Turner and make a move to correct things.

I was not fooled. ;) He was high on my AVOID list this year since I thought he was going for too much in every auction (even after his preseason injury).

He has zero running instincts. He actually used to have some patience at Fresno State.

I essentially traded Mathews for McGahee in a package deal two weeks ago and that same trade would definitely not go through now.Maybe look to target R. Bush or CJ after he faces CHI this week?

yeah I know McGahee is a pipedream. Your other ideas are good ones.

Where are all the people who said he's still a RB1 even with the RBBC (since he did it last year)? I want a refund on this kid. Ready to offload all SD players even Gates at this point...

He clearly is their best player and has elite talent, it's 100% poor usage and coaching responsible for him not reaching his fantasy potential and chargers not reaching their offensive potential

Brown getting these touches in all this open space is so frustrating. Chargers have a guy who can just rip huge gains sitting on the bench while they throw the ball to a guy who gets what's untouched basically. As bad a skill position misuse of talent in the nfl

Bc brown gets catches in open space and they pound mathews on dives on first down repeatedly. Horrible management

94-year-old Ronnie Brown looking MILES better than Mathews is all you need to know.
Yeah, MILES better.
Brown: 8 touches for 55 yards tonightMathews: 11 touches for 32 yards tonight
So let's be clear. Are you saying you think those raw stats are indicative of the performance/talent of Brown and Mathews? If so, say so. If not, why are you promoting this BS?Explain.
Answer to your first question: no.Answer to your second question: I am not. I simply pointed out how each guy was doing with his touches tonight. If it doesn't reflect well on the player you have been pimping as a top 10 RB for the last two months, oh well. Besides, a lot of this is in jest. How are you not getting that?

So you were being disingenuous. As I thought. This is serious ####, man... :)

Not disingenuous, but just playing around. But even though Mathews IS the better talent (obviously), Brown has looked better tonight, inexplicably.
