Cassell by all accounts had to two really good games prior to the KC bye week.

Playing a poor Oakland pass DEF and with no established running game, can he keep it up? What if/any impact will the bye week have on him? Does he stay hot and do we ride the streak? or does the break cool him off? and we suffer?

I am seriously considering starting him over Big Ben. Anybody else considering starting him, why or why not? and if so, over who?

OK, I'll bite ...

Both Sanchez and Orton lit the Raiders up, and McCoy had decent numbers last week, as well. Think most would agree Cassel is a shade above those guys, for sure ... and with DBowe, an emerging Breaston, and Baldwin ready to see action, it is clear he has better weapons at his disposal. Factor in the mythical Jackie Battle to keep the defense somewhat honest, and all the makings of a very productive outing are in place. This offense started to click midseason last year, albeit under drastically (JCharles/Weiss)different circumstances. Put me in the camp that sees them taking a turn for the positive again this year.

My concern would be the Chiefs T.O.P. today ... Oakland can get on some very long, sustained drives, keeping Cassel and co. cooling their heels for big chunks of the game. I could see a very servicable 275/2 from Cassel today, making for a good spot start.

And I for some reason do have him ranked higher than Big Ben, but

I certainly wouldn't bet much if anything on it.

I think Cassels receivers are coming around, there blocking is getting

much better, there run game should help them a bit, and there D is still

sub par which should keep the offense having to play hard all game and

every game till the end.

I like Cassels upside, and have a feeling Steelers will play D an run more.

But I could be totally wrong.. Hopefully that was some helpful thoughts..

I think Cassell is sorely being overlooked this week and I even think KC has a decent shot to knock the Raiders off who have been playing on a lot of emotion but likely will run with Boller early. Even if Palmer comes into the game he has had no time to work with these receivers so I could see KC manufacturing some good field position with a few turnovers. That would give Cassel and the offense some short fields to cash in on.

Bowe and even Breaston are starting to come on and KC has a chance to get to .500 which 3 weeks into the season we were discussing Andrew Luck for this team. I really am shocked to see him ranked behind Tim Tebow, Josh Freeman, and Colt McCoy. He is a much stronger play IMO than those 3 who FBG has in the top 10, one of them in the top5.

I'm not saying Cassel is top5, but top10 is within reach and certainly he should be a safe bet for top 12-15 this week with so many bye weeks. Dodds and crew are usually right on these rankings far more than they are wrong but I disagree with several of the QB rankings the week.

I recall a thread you started last preseason, touting the Chiefs as a potential fantasy "gold" offense, as well as being a fun team to watch play. Took them a couple weeks, but it came to fruition ... Cassel/Bowe went on that 5/6 week tear, Charles was ... well, Charles ... hell, even TJones was solid enough to be a plug-in start most weeks.As I stated in my earlier post, the dynamics change without Weiss and JC ... but case can be made that WR's are better, as a unit, this year. Losing Moekai/JC for the season will warrant Cassel to look to the WR's more as we move along, and it looks like this unit is heating up once again.This is certainly a favorable matchup for KC's passing game ... and if one is in a pinch due to byes/less than stellar matchups, then Cassel makes for a very nice option this week.

I've started Cassel in both leagues that I own him - I like his chances to do very well against the weak Raiders' pass D.
