Matt Cassell this week (1 Viewer)

He did well against a horrible Houston secondary. Now he gets the horrible Jax secondary at home. He should easily get 250, 2 TD + .... who are you starting him over?

Due to Schaub's bye and Vick's injury, I will be starting Cassel this week. Not confidently, but not a lot of choices. I like him and Hasselbeck as WW QBs this week who could be OK.

I am really debating Cassell over Rivers iff Gates is dinged up and Floyd is out.... though the NE secondary is bad too. Really confused what to do here....

Going back and forth between Cassel and Cutler...The only thing I'm worried about is KC predominantly running the ball against JAX.....

Picked him up this week specifically to start on Schaub's bye week.
:goodposting: I love the matchup and I'm doing the same, but who knows if Cassell can actually exploit the Jaguars?

He's the perfect bye week replacement for Peyton.. He's gonna shred that junior college pass D of the Jags; I agree w/ the OP, should be a lock for 250/2.

I debated picking up Cassel to start this week with Schaub on bye, but picked up Kolb to ride the hot hand. If something were to happen to Schaub later and I needed a backup to start I'd trust Kolb more than Cassel on a random week.

I know, I know, Vick may come storming back and make Kolb useless again, then I'll have to pick between Hasselhoff, Bradford, or Freeman.

Seeing a Bucs fan selecting Cassell for this week makes me wonder...if you had a chance to pick up Freeman for this week, why would you rather have Cassell? Not saying either is better, just want a homer viewpoint.

My opponent is a Manning & Manning & Cassel owner. He is starting Cassel over Eli on peyton's bye.

(As a Schaub & Freeman owner, I'm starting freeman, and hopeful Freeman is the better start. Toss-up. Who knows is the Bucs fan above had Freeman available to him. Over the season, I prefer Freeman to Cassel as a backup, which is why I drafted Freeman and not Cassel.)

I'm debating Cassel or Hasselbeck, but I'm really on the fence. I feel like KC is going to run the ball down Jacksonville's throat, and KC's D is going to keep them from scoring much.

Same here. Over the season, I prefer Freeman to Cassel as a backup (Peyton & Freeman owner). But to see a Bucs fan selecting Cassel over Freeman (assuming Freeman is/was available) gives me cause for concern.

I have Freeman right now as my starter with Schaub on bye, but Cassel, and Palmer on WW not sure who I'm going with.

First of all, he's a lock for about 200yds and a TD. Anything after that would be nice and he could get as many as 3 TD's, but I could also see KC running it a ton and not giving Cassel a chance to do much of anything. Especially if they get up big early.

Jacksonville's offense could be the real deterrent to Cassel.

:goodposting: People saying lock for 250 are in for a disappointment. I could see a couple TDs as he's hotting up and the receivers are getting better, but the Chiefs have the #1 run game in the league at 170-odd YPG and will likely hit that number this Sunday. Cassel only throws 25-30 passes, and I don't see him needing to pass to catch up. The Jags are awful, the Chiefs are at home, and led Houston for 59min32secs. 210/3 at best. More likely 170/1. Big day for Charles and Jones.

I'd take the 210/3 line. I agree with other posters who are more concerned with Jacksonville's effort and KC's running game than actually how effective Cassel will be.

Which Jacksonville team is going to show up? The one that beat the Colts or the one that got stomped by the Eagles and Titans and managed a FG in each? If Todd Bouman is the starting QB, I'd be shocked if this was a close game and I can see Cassel throwing 15 passes.

I think Hasselbeck is the sneaky QB play this week. I think he's more likely to have to throw 25+ times.

Picked him up this week specifically to start on Schaub's bye week. :(

I actually am starting Freeman in the league I have Peyton. Cassell in the league I have Schaub.St. Louis hasn't been as bad as Jacksonville defending the pass, and I think the Rams' offense (especially Steven Jackson) is going to be able to move the ball on the Bucs limiting Freeman's opportunities to put up points. It also looked like Winslow aggravated his knee in the game last week. If he doesn't play or is limited, Freeman's receiving options take a pretty big hit. It looked like a light may have come on for Bowe last week, Chambers is a decent WR2, Moeaki is a nice TE option, and Cassell might get a cheap TD from Charles or McCluster coming out of the backfield.FWIW, in the league I'm starting MC, I could have picked up and started Freeman. I think Cassell is the better start.
