Matt DeSalvo, SP, NY Yankees (1 Viewer)

He's another one that the Yankees called up. It sounds like he's not the greatest pitcher in the world, but he's got a great change-up to fool hitters.

I took a chance and started him this week. He's got 2 starts this week....both against the Mariners.

Anyone using him this week?

:missing:

Don't know much about him but I started him this week. Also started Wes Obermueller from the Marlins. Hopefully one of them will pan out.

Looks good tonight.

I would like to pick him up as I love his chances for wins.

But yahoo does not have him on the roster yet.

Anyone actually WATCH this game?

Mariners are atrocious hitting.... I'd like to hear how he actually looked

Well, there goes his decision  ... ump blew a call at 2nd that led to a run on a blooper.

Glad to see DeSalvo do well tonight though - I went to college with him for a couple years; close friends of mine tell me he's a pretty good character guy. Not an overpowering pitcher, but smart & keeps things mixed up pretty well. He had a rough year last year, but has ultimately done well at every level he's been on.

Good luck DeSalvo - hope you get another shot!

I'm watching the game. He looked good. Not a strike out pitcher. His biggest mistake was walking the #9 batter twice.

Looked pretty good. They said he walked a lot in the minors, and that continued. That call at 2nd was one of the worst I have ever seen, and I'm a Sox fan.

Call at 2nd was bad, but this one is on Mo. I have said it all season, but he does not look the same.

Rivera will be fine, he's lacking work.

DiSalvo = An overhanded Sam Militelo

Smallish guy, David Coneish if that makes any sense. Nice slider, nice idea out there, mixed his pitches well, spotted the fast ball, got the change over to the righties. didn't get overwhelmed which is nice for the first big league start. Of course Rasner shut these boys down yesterday, so the Seattle Sticks aren't what they could be. I'm suprised he didn't get more K's, I could see more being there. He'll never be a K per inning guy, but it wasn't pure junk.

Unless Mo is in there

Yeah, it was this past weekend's news, but DeSalvo with another quality start this weekend, this time resulting in a W with 6.2 IP, 2ER, 3BB and 2K. He's got a 1.98 ERA after his first two starts, and now sits at 1-0. Granted, both starts against the Mariners, but hey ... good start man!

You can tell he's just livin the dream ... check this interview out (funny at ~1:15).
