Matt Flynn has agreed to terms w/Seattle on a 3yr contract worth up to $26M w/$10M grntd.

From Jason La Canfora

Seven days ago, Jets fans were sweating Manning to Marshall...today, it is Moore to Bess. Flynn would have been a nice landing spot for Miami. Only team to maybe come out worse in the Manning Dominio Effect is SF if they lose Smith and don't sign Manning.

Really surprised that Miami, Cleveland and Seattle kept the pace slow and the bid low on Matt Flynn. Miami fans have to be truly frustrated as it was thought they were the front runners and did not offer more.

Well that sound youre hearing is his fantasy stock swan diving
Not sure how you work that out, who's he going to pass to in Miami? Davone ####### Bess? Do me a favour. As a Seahawks fan and a Flynn owner in dynasty, I'm delighted with this. There are worse receivers that he could've ended up with than Rice, Wallace, Baldwin and Tate. Running game sorted as well, so they should be able to develop a passing game with less pressure if Lynch can be trusted to keep things ticking over while Flynn settles in.

Flynn is a former 7th round pick with average physical tools at best who's been sitting on the bench for years. I'm not surprised that teams have their doubts. Colt McCoy is probably comparable to Flynn. Miami on the other hand is screwed at QB, but they'll pick someone up in the draft.

Matt Moore?

Addition by subtraction.

Matt Moore?
and possibly Alex Smith if Moore is not solid with the new Dolphin's regime

How how bad is Miami? Really? Lose out on Manning, miss on Flynn, trade away Marshall... so glad I'm not a Dolphins fan.

When Marshall was in MIA, I had hoped Flynn would sign there (I'm a Flynn dynasty owner). Once Marshall was moved to CHI, I starting leaning toward SEA as my preferred landing spot for Flynn. That offense has better weapons for Flynn to work with than MIA does currently, imho. Lynch, S Rice, Baldwin, Tate and Z Miller are a decent group. I'm wondering if Flynn is only just solid for SEA, if Z Miller is potentially a winner here. He could actually have some fantasy relevance again (not a Miller owner).

Remember when Flynn was going to break the bank after that 6 TD game. He was going to be this year's Kevin Kolb. He gets $10M guaranteed. That's a journeyman level QB contract. The media talking up Flynn "dissing" Miami. But that word only exists for $65M+ type deals. Looks like Flynn took what the market had to offer.

Whether he ended up in Miami, Cleveland, or Seattle Flynn is strictly fantasy backup material.
I don't disagree here. If you entered 2012 with Flynn as your QB1, that would be very risky, imo. As a QB2 or QB3, sure, but not as your starter. With that said; I still like his upside in SEA better than MIA or CLE. While his ceiling isn't an elite fantasy QB1, in my view, I do think he has low-end QB1 upside; if things go right for him in SEA. Realistically, I'd pencil him in as FF QB2 material though... not a guy I'd want to plan on starting in 2012.

Over 8mil per is quite the journeyman.

Same thing could of been said about Brady / Warner / Romo / Bulger and others; I think we have learned draft position means nothing. Kid looked good on the field and thats what matters.signed Guy how paid a lot for Zach Miller 2 yrs ago

And Green Bay made the absolute right call in not franchising him. They would have him sitting behind Rodgers for $14 million.

Kaepernick is waiting in the wings as the Plan D
Thank you...no way does a "positive fallback" include trotting out Kaepernick in Week 1. He is the future, but not what they thought they would be looking at a few days ago as Option #1.

Not much of a shocker. Miami has been low-balling every FA QB that bothered to visit them.

Those inflated numbers are meaningless - Flynn got nearly the same deal as Kolb, which was $12M guaranteed and $8M the 2nd year (2012). The Cards can cut Kolb next year and only take a $3M cap hit.

CK is Harbaugh's guy - he traded up to get him. Obviously he sees him as the future of the team since they don't seem to care if Alex Smith moves on. I doubt he'll be a great passer, especially right away, but Harbaugh saw what Tebow did and I wouldn't surprised if he thinks CK can duplicate it.

Actually what we've learned is that very late round draft picks and UDFAs who are able to land a spot on a team end up being very good QBs. Much better than their 2nd to mid round brethren.

The base value of Matt Flynn's three-year contract in Seattle is only $19 million, with $10 million guaranteed. Please show me how that is nearly the same. TIA #####.

from Peter King:

Talked to Flynn. Said a big factor in Sea over Mia was vibe in the building in Seattle: "The coaches, the staff--they were fantastic.''

wasn't Kolb Franchised or signed to a huge contract when the Eagles thought he was going to be their future?

:confused:Before the 6 TD game he was likely going to sign a 2 or 3 year deal with a team on the "promise to compete for the job." Because of that performance, he was able to choose his destination and get a contract that will set him up for life. In other words, I would say that the 6 TD game had a noticeable effect on the contract he got. Instead of 3/4.5 competing for a job he got 3/10 mil guaranteed and the job to himself.

imo, Miller's fantasy relevance has less to do with who's throwing to him and more to do with who's blocking for the QB. If it's Miller, he ain't catching much this year either.

With Matt in Seattle and Smith potentially going to Miami per the current buzz the losers of the Manning sweepstakes are kind of screwed. Tennessee probably in the best position should they not land Manning.

He still has to beat out Tjack.I know, I know - but this will be a competition.
