Matt Hasselbeck, any reason for this forecast? (1 Viewer)

First off, I am a Hasselbeck owner and already have him plugged in to my starting lineup. He's been solid and consistent for me and I have no qualms about having him in there. So this isn't a WDIS post disguied as something else. That being said, I was reading forecasts at another fairly large site, and they have him forecast to throw for 315 yds and THREE TDs against Philly. I just can't see that at all. More like 250 and 2. Does Philly have some injuries on defense that I don't know about? I looked at all the injury reports and see only a backup safety on the injury report. I like Hasselbeck, but have seen nothing that makes me expect a three TD weekend this week. I mean, when is the last time he had three TDs?

I'm starting him this week and expect his ceiling at about 200 and 2. Even if this game was in Seattle I couldn't see him throwing 3 tds. Seems like wishful thinking..

That's what I am thinking. I just don't think Philly's D is THAT bad. Heck, he didn't throw for three TDs against the Rams. Or two for that matter.

Brady threw for one against Philly. Good luck Hass! :excited:
That's my thought too. Jim Johnson will blitz Hasselbeck every play to hit him hard. With those sore ribs I don't see Hass making it the entire game. And the Eagles secondary is good enough to shut down the Seahawks passing game. I think it will be a bad week for Hass and Co.

i think a lot of how matt performs will be based upon how effective feely is. If feely performs like last week, it could turn into a shootout.

Even though brady only threw for 1 td, he threw for a ton of yards. Granted hawks are no patriots, but still.

I would not underestimate the effect of losing Hackett will have. He was turning into his go to guy because of his size and elusiveness. Branch is a good receiver in space when he gets sepeartion but he's not going to win catches away from DBs. That may limit his TDs.

I'm guessing 215 and 1-2 TDs max.

speculating that hasslebeck will get hurt is not sensible. just becuase his ribs are bruised doesnt mean he is going to leave te game hurt. he's been dealing with the same issues all year, which are very minor. also, the eagle suck. they played a good game game against the patriots and nobody can deny that. But it's n ot like they are a solid team that is going to play well week in and week out. Seattle will smoke philly. 28-10

As someone already mentioned, Seattle tends to sleepwalk through 1 PM east coast games, but Philly has a bend-don't break type philosophy on defense most games. I can see 275 yds for Hass, but no more then 2 TD's (200 and 1 seems more likely though)

Curious why you think people Here would care about what you found on another site?

Take the 250 and 2, if he throws 315 and 3 it is a bonus!

Gee, I dunno. Maybe people don't read just this one site and treat it as gospel?

We are talking about the same team that only won at STL last week because of a fumbled snap at the goalline? :welcome: I'm a Hass owner and would be happy with 250 and 2 TD's. Replacing Hackett with Burleson is a major hit to their passing game. Since Seattle can't run the ball against anybody, Hass will have to do even more than 250/2 to get them 28pts. I don't see it happening. UNLESS Feeley gives them 2 TD's.

Yeah, against the Rams in St Louis, a divisional game where it's always wild. I guess if every team played the exact same way they did the week before they'd only need a one week season. Last time they played in Philly it was 42-0 Seattle. Last games are in the past. The Pats barely got past the Eagles last week, does that mean they are no longer a dominant team?Burleson has made plays and Hass is on pace for a record season, with Hackett only playing the last 3 games so there is plenty of passing in Seattle without Hackett. It's not like Hackett's been the main guy up to now. Branch has gotten 100 (or 8 yards less) in all but the first game of the year, Engram is having a career year no matter where he is lined up. And Ben Obomanu is a capable and large 4th WR. The only thing that will slow down the passing game is Shaun Alexander. The team figured out how to deal with the blitz after the first quarter and started picking the Rams apart and they'll do that to whatever the Eagles throw at them too. Hass' game is much better devised to beat a blitzing team than Brady's is and he has no problem quickly checking down to the open guy or reading the blitz and changing the play. On the other side, Seatlle's D has been great all season long at preventing the big play, they have fast, athletic LBs and good safeties so I am not concerned about the big play passes. Westbrook will be the key, as he is practically unstoppable. 28-10 seems a little far fetched but I definitely see 28 points possible, even without defensive scores. But it'll be hard to limit Westbrook and co. to under 17 points.

I think if seattle comes in with the same game plan as they did in the second half of the Hawks/Rams game last week they'll have a shot at winning this game. But they have to do the quick release shot drop back passes and throw in some draw plays. Philly has been known to miss some tackles. If seahawks come out with the right game plan to deal with the all out blitz philly will throw at them, they'll score some points and possibly win this game. Remember seattle has a pass rush too.

But if the come out and let the blitz surpise them, and let a LB come in unblocked from 5 feet in front of hasselbeck. Like they did in the first half of the Rams game. Its going to be a LONG, LONG game for the seahawks.
