Matt Jones worth the flier? (1 Viewer)

Picked up Jones as a hopeful handcuff for Gore, but I forgot Turbin was there.

If I drop him there are better backups I could pick up like Breida or Foreman (not sure which, thoughts if so?)

0.5 ppr if that makes a difference.

Im thinking I should make this move and drop him, but am just over thinking it.

let me know your thoughts, and leave a link, WHIR

You apparently also forgot about Marlon Mack. Jones will be 4th on the depth chart. I would drop him for Breida. 49ers cut Williams in favor of Breida as their backup for a reason I'd think.

Definitely take Breida and then Foreman in that order.  Breida has a chance to see the field in a similar role as Tevon Coleman (althought not as talented as Coleman nor is the offense as good).  Breida has a above average chance of being the lead back for a few games if Hyde gets injured.

As Dagmn mentioned, Jones is battling Mack initially if Gore goes down and then Turbin as well.

I like Foreman more than Breida, as I see Foreman likely having a short yardage role even when Miller is healthy.  Both Miller and Hyde are oft injured, so both are about equally likely to assume the starting role due to injury.  Also, I don't trust SF to have many leads, where HOU should.

I would take either of them before Jones though.

I concur. Take Foreman first, Breida second.

Matt Jones found a new home.

The Indianapolis Colts claimed the running back off waivers after he was cut by the Washington Redskins on Saturday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.

Jones, a former third-round pick, spent two years in Washington, where he compiled 950 yards on 243 carries with six touchdowns. The team became frustrated over his penchant for fumbling, but he did earn 4.6 yards per carry in limited snaps last season.

In Indy, Jones should battle for backup snaps with rookie Marlon Mack behind the ageless Frank Gore. Mack received rave reviews during training camp and popped off a couple chunk runs in the preseason. Adding Jones to compete with the rookie, however, provides more potential depth for a team that could focus on the ground game early in the year.

Jones owns enticing speed and power combination. As a rookie he looked to be the future of the Redskins' backfield before coaches soured on him after the string of fumbling flubs.

A fresh start in Indianapolis could be all the athletic back needs to unlock his talent.

With questions about Andrew Luck's status for Week 1 swirling around Indy, the Colts are likely to focus on the ground game early in the season. Sunday's waiver claim gives them another back to ride.

It's a cheap roll of the dice for new GM Chris Ballard, and one that has the potential to pay off big time if Jones ever lives up to his talent."

I think I am the only one on the planet keeping him... we shall see, I hope he doesn't fumble, cause if he does, he will be gone.

Colts waived RB Matt Jones.

Jones was expected to get a shot to contribute with the Colts, who have little clarity behind an aging Frank Gore. With Jones gone, fourth-rounder Marlon Mack's role looks more secure. Still only 24 and drafted by renowned talent evaluator Scot McCloughan, Jones will likely get a chance on another team. The Bears also tried to claim Jones off waivers last weekend.
