Matt Leinart's Preseason (1 Viewer)

The most impressive rookie QB I've ever seen in the preseason.

I'm not talking about stats. I'm talking about pinpoint accuracy, pocket awareness, leadership and the ability to scramble.

If you don't know, now you know.

Eschewing the superlative, I'd say he played very, very well in his limited time on the field.

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but once you add in his limited time in in practice, I'd like to hear his critics tell us why we shouldn't be impressed.

Wait til his BabyMomma and kid roll into town.

Matt should be happy that he went later in the draft. He got drafted to one of if not the best WR'ing core in the league. For the next few years he has one of the best blocking backs in the game on his side and will have a year to settle in and learn the system.

Warner will have a great year but like the situation with Kitna and Palmer in Cincy I feel Leinart is the man next year.

This guy is going to have a great career.

Cutler was pretty good as well.

I drafted Leinart in Round 14 mainly to bust the guy's nuts that drafted Hurt Warner as his QB1.

Granted, I liked the Warner pick because any QB with those WRs (and EJ) can put up really nice numbers. I just don't know why the guy didn't back up Warner with Leinart, especially seeing how Leinart has played during the preseason.

Put me down for one that thought Leinart wouldn't amount to much in the NFL. If he keeps playing as well as he has, it looks like I'll eat my words.

Leinart looked good, I thought Cutler looked better. But the difference may be like choosing between Steve Young and Brett Favre.

I see Leinart may be in a similar situation as Ben Roethlisherger two years ago. If Warner goes down with an injury and Leinart comes in and plays well, he may never get the starting job back.

:goodposting: I was absolutely loving Leinart coming out of the draft, and Arizona got an absolute steal. I can't believe he went as late as he did, and I can't believe he went after Young. As a NY football fan, I also thought he was the right pick for the Jets -- this kid is a franchise QB, and is going to be a special one. He is the kind of guy you rebuild around. I'm sure Furgeson will be a nice player, but passing up Leinart was a mistake. And, I agree, from what I've seen of Leinart in the preseason, he has looked great. The pocket presence, leadership and comfort are what impress me the most. You'd never know he was a rookie.Mark me down as firmly in the camp behind this kid. He has grit like Brett Favre, and, as I've been saying all along, he is just a winner. He just finds a way to get the job done. That's the kind of guy I want to build a team around. He will have Super Bowl rings before its all said and done.

:lmao: Neither one has played a down in a regular season NFL game and they're already being compared to two Hall of Famers. Let's not get carried away people.

A voice of reason, refreshing. I've been laughing at this thread since LHucks started it.eta: Leinart is fragile, please don't compare him to Favre.

Sure. Here you go: LINK

I can't believe the Lions passed on him. You only get so many chance to draft a franchise QB.

he fell to me at 7th in our rookie draft. I was happy to take him. Looks like a future stud, and a steal at that position.{dynasty}

was this a Canadian Football League rookie draft? That would make sense then.I would have still taken Onterrio Smith though

"Voice of reason" or "person who can't comprehend an analogy"?Almost forgot: drafted him 10th (and Jennings 14th).

Warner was great last week: 23 of 37, 300 yds, 3 TD'sDo you think that if/when he get hurt, Leinart is capable of putting the same numbers?

I don't think he'll put up the *same* numbers, but I do think they'll be very good numbers.

But Leinart is from the PAC-9 therefore they are already making a space for him in the Hall of Fame right next to Reggie's. Cutler may actually have to prove it on the field since he didn't come from the PAC-9.

Good point...given that Vince Young has been sucking and Bush has been lighting it up.Pac10 = Conference of Heismans and ChampionsHave fun watching Oregon #####slap Oklahoma(the second best team in the sissy 12)USC is going to embarrass Nebraska.(the third best team in the sissy12)Maybe the big 12 should just move down to DII for the year so they can actually compete with the teams they face.

This happened to me (Warner owner) and I was pissed, except we only had a 14 round draft & the guy took Leinert in round 9 as his QB2. I tried to trade him Wali Lundy for Leinert and he sat on the offer until the news that Lundy was traded.Even more maddening is the fact that his QB1 has the same bye as Leinert. He has since picked up Rivers as a third QB, but he is the only guy in the league carrying 3 QB's. I'm hoping Warner doesn't miss a game all year (I know, unlikely) and this guy's team ends up at the bottom of the league. He hasn't even tried to offer me a trade with Leinert. :hot:
