Matt Moore will start against the 49ers (1 Viewer)

Matt Moore, not Jimmy Clausen, will start Sunday's game against the 49ers.Clausen was so bad in his three starts that the Panthers are going back to a guy that has a 41.8 passer rating in his two starts this season. Coach John Fox, in the final year of his contract, clearly thinks Moore gives his offense a better chance to move the ball and we agree. Clausen simply isn't ready, while Moore showed at the end of last year he is at least capable. Upgrade all the Panthers' skill players.

So we bump all the skill players up from 'totally worthless' to just 'worthless'. Excellent. DeAngelo still rides the pine for me. This team doesn't even try and the season isn't even 1/2 over.

I still can't believe the timing of Fox putting Clausen in in the first place. He set the kid up to fail. Should've been 5 weeks of Moore running the team into the ground and then Clausen coming in this week after the bye.

As an owner of all 3 Panthers- Smiff, D Will and Stewart I'm still hoping there is a trade involving Smith and or Williams before the deadline but in reality this is the best we are probably going to get.

:lmao: Let Moore totally fail until everyone in the whole NFL knows that it is time for a change, and then go with Clausen. Let him play the last part of the season and see how he does- less pressure and more of a fair (legit) shot at the job.

I couldn't agree more. Fox went to Clausen far too soon if you ask me. I'm glad that Moore is getting another shot.

This gives Smith a bump in value. He was putting up ok numbers with Moore in there. Moore looked a bit like Kolb last season in limited duty. Hopefully he can do something.

That's a ridiculous statement, but I guess I should consider the source. Their D hasn't played that bad this year for as young as they are, and some of their best offensive players haven't been on the field long enough to have the opportunity to do anything. Whether team is good or bad, Fox's players always play hard for him.

Profootball Weekly disagrees: "Panthers Going Nowhere Fast"...Pretty damning portrait of Fox & Co....

Where in that article does it say the team isn't trying? It is well known that Fox's players always play hard for him. I think this season is more a case of youth, bad play calling, and bad coaching decisions. I definitely don't think it is a case of a team (as in the players) not trying.

the team concept extends to coaching, i think. fox isn't trying. he's not even trying to put his team on good footing for the future.

Great news for us Smith owners. My projection for him just went from 2 catches for 19 yards to 3 catches for 28. :lmao:
:lmao: With Moore playing as poorly as he did, Smith knocked out a couple 60 yard/TD games. I don't think Moore is good, but I think he'll be better than he was because he can't be worse. And it doesn't really matter how good he is as long as he's capble of throwing the ball beyond the line of scrimmage in such a way that Smith can catch a few. Clausen was not capable of that.

We were talking about the players not trying.

My guess is the order to put Clausen in came from above Fox.

If, big if, Moore can play like we saw briefly last year, Smith should be able to get it done. With the running backs this team has, defenses will be playing the run, which should mean single-coverage for Smith, not many can cover Smith one-on-one...come on Moore!

Although, I believe Carolina could beat San Francisco, a blowout? Come on...where is the offense going to come from for that to happen?

Don't worry, Alex Smith has done a great job of generating points for opposing teams this year....

Alex Smith should provide the Panthers with plenty of points. Or did you miss the Seahawks game?ETA - Damn, 5Rings beat me to it. At least Niner fans are united in realizing our sucktitude.

Ugh, this might convince me to start Steve Smith again if he's healthy. If you aren't going to start him at home against the 49ers, might as well drop him right?
