After hearing about Matt Walsh and seeing him on the television, for some reason I just have mixed feelings about all of this. Part of me appauds him for having the courage to step up and share what he has and the other part of me feels like he's backstabbing and trying to get his 5 minutes of fame.

As I watch him, he certainly doesn't appear to be enjoying the whole experience. He doesn't smile, doesn't wave, walks quickly to his destination and has his lawyers do all the talking for him. It almost appears as if he's the one that's done something wrong here and I lose sight of the fact he's the one who's trying to help the NFL.

What are your thoughts on this guy after watching him from afar? Is he a snitch and do you think he did anything wrong by coming forward with what he had?

He did nothing wrong, imo. At least involving his direct relations in this affair. He may have been a little loose-lipped around the wrong people. But I think he just got worked and juiced like a fruit to the media's benefit. People are paying for their kid's college education off this story.

Yes, he was completely wrong to tell the truth.

Snitch Definition accoring to freedictionary.com:

To turn informer

I would argue that in this defintion, yes, Walsh is a snitch. The problem is that he is not wrong for being a snitch in this instance. There could be an argument made for lying in order to protect family or very close friends, as Plato suggested, but there is no need for such l;oyalty when talking in terms of a business. Were the people who told on Enron snitches. Yes. The difference is sometimes it is wrong to be snitch, and sometimes it would be right. If I tell my Brother something that my sister told me in confidence that I would not tell anyone, I am the bad kind of snitch. If I rat out the Unibomber building pipe bombs next door, I am the good kind of snitch.

I don't think he was telling the truth early on. I think he was telling a lot of people about things his previous employer was doing while he was upset with them, and I think he probably exaggerated. Then people started asking him to back it up, and he started backpedaling, asking for protection, and basically realized how serious this is. Then he realized that he was going to be under a ton of scrutiny, had no real chance to profit from it, was generally in over his head. Right now, he has to feel like he put himself at huge risk, and according to the NFL, didn't even have anything new. That's reason enough to be unhappy. Outside shot that he's got enough information (and didn't sign away his rights in return for legal amnesty) to write a book. Otherwise, this whole thing sucks for him.

Agreed about your examples of being a snitch, but they are polar opposites. This one isn't as clearly defined as the kid sister or the pipe bomb guy.I don't think this guy is a good snitch. Do you think he did this to protect the rest of the NFL teams or his favorite team so that the Patriots can't use this against them in the future?Or do you think this guy is going to try and write a book and make money from being a snitch. If it's the latter scenario, would you still agree that this is being a good snitch? I don't.

I don't believe for a second he did any of this on his own, or for any honorable reasons. He was a pawn in a power struggle between Comcast/Specter & the NFL network/Goodell.

He is probably more victim than anything in this saga. Time to retire back to Hawaii & play golf, Mr. Walsh.

Snitch? No

Self-promoting ego-maniac who wanted attention, but brought absolutely nothing of relevance to the table? Absolutely.
