Julius Jones = Warrick Dunn and Marion Barber = Mike Alstott

with less production and community service work. This is who the RBBC reminds me of, but I believe Alstott was a better runner and Dunn at this point is much better.

Actually I think Jones is the better RB, but I would stay away from both since Dallas can`t run the ball.

Am I missing something? Is this poll some sort of joke, or are there seriously people who think that Jones is the power back in the tandem?

There was a 'discussion' in another thread where someone mentioned Jones would have been able to punch a 1 yard TD in that Barber had failed to do. I decided to try the pole option to find out the general public thought and maybe generate some discussion about it. The people have spoken...

JJ---102 attempts 401 yards 3.9 averageMB-112 attempts 569 yards 5.1 average

Da Guru, I like what you say most of the time, but I think you need to re-evaluate your stance here. MBIII is the better back, but I'll also concede he wouldn't be half as successful without JJ. Having another talented back to switch up with is the difference. If the cowboys let JJ walk after this season, I think you'll see a drop off in MB's production. Jones is a better blocker on passing downs though...

I'm a cowboy fan. I've watched most of their games this season. Marion keeps drives alive. Plain and simple.

This may have been a reasonable debate a year or a year and a half ago, but not so any longer. MB III is a more complete running back and clearly the better player. Julius Jones is the eptitome of average, while MB III is very good. No reasonable person can think JJ is better.

Neither of them are power backs. Barber is the shifier back but Jones is horrible in short yardage situations hence Barber gets more opportunities.

Really? I was watching the game two weeks ago and I heard a stat after a Barber run and he's got more yards after contact than any other back with a certain amount of rushing attempts.I'd consider him a power back myself and I know the exact play for me that put him in that class. During the NE game, he was running and to finish off the play, he lowered his shoulder and stiff armed of all people Rodney Harrison right to the chin. I thought it was possibly a penalty but it was a tough run and finished it off against an intimidating defender.

Uhhh...the Cowboys are 13th in rushing this year. For a team that passes the ball 60% of the time, I wouldn't necessarily say they "can't" run the ball. As for your dilemma, Barber is by far the better back. Being a season ticket holder for the last 2 years I can attest to Barber being the fan-favorite by far. The power-back argument is ridiculous. Here's why:--Barber comes into the game, regardless of the situation, and runs like his hair is on fire--He rarely steps out of bounds--In a local interview early this year he attested to the fact that he looks to deliver the hit...at times looking for the safety after he breaks just for that purpose--His feet never stop--He leads the league in yards after initial contact--Barber's nickname is Marion the BarbarianThough the last couple of weeks he's run fairly hard, Julius is not even close to a power back. Here's why:--He's terrible at breaking tackles Enough said.Pass blocking? Have you watched any of the games? Barber stood up Umenyiora in the Giants game in a head-on full speed collision which allowed Romo to hit Witten for a first. Not that Jones is a cupcake, but he's not standing up any 260 lb DE's.I think the other thread may have made the argument that Jones would have hit the hole faster, not harder...

Those numbers are a little off. When Jones was getting most of the first half carries Barber was much more effective coming in against a tired defense. now that they are rotating series Barbers number have gone way down.

What I mean as the better RB is that JJ seems to have better instincts, Barber just plows into people. As of late neither one is dominating.
