Never posted in this thread before, but been following the whole time. Congratulations on achieving your dream and good luck!

 
Good luck with the opening tonight! I have a very strong feeling that McClure's Barbecue will go down as an all-time FBG success story. It's been awesome to follow along with the journey and watch you overcome every one of the many obstacles you've faced so far. I'm sure tonight will be a great success!

23 hours 26 minutes from 40 on az border to middle of Chicago.21 hours 5 minutes from 40 on az border to center of NO.

Center of NO to center of Chicago 14 hours 42 minutes.

Food better be good!

Was going to ask the same thing.

I haven't carried cash in years. I don't know many people that do carry cash anymore. Hope not a long term thing. Really turning away a large portion of customers.

I can fit more....but time & space are my mystery factor here. my instincts tell me we will have food through 9 pm. If I can feed 225-250 I will be right on par.

If I had the room inside....I would be cooking for 400 based on phone, internet, drop byes, etc. It feels like calm before storm for sure.

get em bro!!!!!!! this is a far cry from our conversation after katrina!! so happy for you!! my sisters restaurant ran out of food at 8pm opening night, and again at 10pm the next day. i expect you to beat that!!

The cash thing only becomes an issue when there are no ATM machines in the area. If there is one close, it will be OK. But most people don't carry cash. I'm sure that the credit card setup is difficult to set up but will come in the future

while i completely understand this from a business point of view, i don't get the "i never carry cash" crowd. :shrug:

May have a few bucks/change laying around in the console. Can't think of anytime I'm out that I ever need cash :shrug:

I think Tipsy will do great. I would definitely look into CC/etc... Really is cutting off a very large batch of customers. I know if I walked in not knowing this, I wouldn't be walking to the nearest ATM machine to go back, I'd just find a place that did. (Which I can't think of any places in Miami or Phoenix/Scottsdale that are cash only. Maybe it's a New Orleans thing :shrug: )

10 people had to get cash from the atm across the street. I took some credit from the ones that looked real troubled....i need a new reader before we take them en masse.

 
What was the general consensus on taste? Word of mouthin BBQ is perhaps the biggest key to success so I'm curious what you heard.

Talked to my buddy daren (guy who you did a pre-rehearsal dinner for the first time we came to dantes) about your place tonight. He said he wanted to go but with the buzz he was hearing he didn't want to fight a "likely line around the block". He's planning on waiting for it to die down a little and will be by.

 
Damn, i'm in Cali and a friend that is moving back to NOLA next month said just about everyone she knew back there was talking about hitting up McClures tonight!
