McFadden Haters Unite! (1 Viewer)

Too lean.

Breakaway speed won't be so breakaway in the NFL.

Can't run between the tackles effectively on a consistent basis.

He bounces runs to the outside too much.

Runs too upright.

Bad off-field character.

Personally, I think Chris Johnson (TEN) will have a better career than McFadden. But I don't know anything.

He has to play first.....maybe he'll hold out like Russell for a long while and make the Raiders extra special once again

If we wait to see him play in August, what will we talk about until then? LOL

I'd rather just bash him now.

I'm not a hater but I am concerned that he is on the Raiders and may not have enough talent around him. I sure wish I knew how to accurately predict who would bust in the NFL though. I felt certain Cedric Benson would do well and that did not happen.

Of the rookies this year I feel the most unsure of Kevin Smith and Chris Johnson. After that it is McFadden for me.

He WONT suck because Fargas rushed for 1,009 yards in 222 carries, a 4.5-yard average, and scored four touchdowns last season......

I hate the haters

THE ORIGIN OF RAIDER HATERS

They are out there and have been riding high these last few years. You know who they are. They are the Raider Haters. Those people who are passionately obsessed with hating the Oakland Raiders. Some of them root for rival teams, whilst others don’t have a team they like, they just hate the Raiders. Many of them seem to be more obsessed with hating the Raiders than supporting their own team. Its kind of sad, really to have that much negativity to burn. Where does this phenomenon come from? There is no team that is as passionately and universally hated by its non-fans as the Silver and Black.

I think that the roots of the Raider Hater movement rest in the salad days of the Raiders. Once upon a time the Raiders not only beat their opposition, they dominated. The Raiders Stormed their way through the league, winning for decades. They were a team that everyone feared playing. From that domination, hatred arose.

Al Davis has been the sole figure at the top of the Raiders for decades. Davis has run the Raiders with an us against them attitude. In Al’s world view it is the Raiders and everyone else is the enemy. He goes after his enemies real and perceived with a take no prisoners approach. From that animosity, hatred arose.

Back when there were only three networks, and national TV games were rare. There were two teams that got the most national attention. The Dallas Cowboys who were “America’s Team” and the Oakland Raiders. The Cowboys were the good guys with the star on their helmets. They were clean cut, and had a wholesome All-American image. (This was long before Michael Irvin came along.) The Raiders on the other hand relished in their bad guy image. Their mascot was a pirate. They were clad in black. They let their hair grow long and looked more like the Oakland Chapter of the Hell’s Angels than an NFL team. they were the team that loved to be hated. From that bad guy image, hatred arose.

Now, with the Raiders in the worst slump in their history, everyone is piling on. A perfect example is my MVN colleague Ryan Brown who writes on the Chiefs site. He has a nearly pathological hatred towards the Raiders, so much so that its rare that one of his posts go by that don’t have a pot-shot at the Silver and Black. Its like the school yard bully is down, so everyone is getting their shots in. The haters have come out of the woodwork like ****roaches to laugh and point at the big bad Raiders while they are down. Well, guess what haters, the Raiders will be back on top where they belong.

:football:

I am curious, what do all the McFadden haters think of Felix Jones.

McFadden is good at going fast but he's not good at cutting, making people miss, running between the tackles or pushing the pile. So he can try to bounce it outside like Reggie Bush but will find out like Reggie did that in the NFL if they know that's all you're going to do, they're fast enough to shut you down. They can try to run him up the middle but after taking some big hits he'll probably stop hitting the hole hard and fast. In the end, I think that they'll have to try to get him the ball in space like passes out of the backfield just like Reggie Bush. I don't see a big difference between the two and I'm not that impressed with Reggie Bush in the NFL.

The Raiders RBs did very well last season. The only thing lacking was TDs, but the yards were there. And if Walker is back and healthy, their WRs will be far better.

I don't hate McFadden, but I do think Jones will be a better pro RB, and possibly the best in this class down the road.McFadden will get tons of opportunities in OAK, he is not as shifty as Jones, nor as good a receiver. But he is tougher than Jones in some ways, and is not afraid of contact, so he will get yards.

I recall someone on NFL nework saying that "his base is too narrow".

The 32 NFL teams all thought he was the #1 player coming out of college this year... But, hell, what do they know, we play fantasy football! ;)

They usually can't stop the run...LJ / LT and Den...so the Def could be on the field for a while.

They have a very young QB.

They have 3 other RB's...as of now.

I could see him having ankle/leg issues because of his lower body.

oh and off the field issues.

Hmmm... considering some teams did not have him as the #1 RB on their board, it's hard to think they all had him as the #1 player :bye:

I don't know why people say he can't run between the tackles. He's excellent at finishing his runs. He's almost just like a compact AP

He's not built for the NFL to run between the tackles, it's not that he can't, it's just that he's too small. You do have to consider his inferior level of competition in the video though. It does make a difference.Still I see no reason to think Johnson will have a better career unless you think McFadden is going to suck completely.

It's very impressive to see him fly by CBs, but speed for a RB (Johnson and McFadden included) is outrageously overrated. Name your top ten (or twenty or fifty) RBs of all time, and I bet very few, if any, were the fastest guy on their own teams. In those clips, however, we do see that Johnson also has great balance and extraordinary instinct, but I'll temper that enthusiasm by pointing out the caliber of the defenses he was going against.

Do you just try and annoy people with silly statements? Come on now, let's not fabricate stuff.

Oh come on, it was mentioned a lot in regards to McFadden. Before the combine some teams even said they felt Jones was the better of the two Ark RBs, though that talk died off after the Combine. He was a polarizing player. I'm sure most teams had him as the #1 RB, but a few teams did not. Of course, there are some teams that have said after the draft that they landed the #1 RB on "their" board - but we can just write that off as lying, right?

Back when there were only three networks, and national TV games were rare. There were two teams that got the most national attention. The Dallas Cowboys who were “America’s Team” and the Oakland Raiders. Pittsburgh Steelers down? They made just as frequent appearance on MNF as the other two, and won to boot. The Cowboys were the good guys only to their fans with the star on their helmets. They were clean cut, and had a wholesome All-American image to those living in Texas . (This was long before Michael Irvin came along.) The Raiders on the other hand relished in their bad guy image. Their mascot was a pirate. They were clad in black. Appropos of nothing, while I don't know how old you are, I fixed this for historical accuracy. ETA: Raider fans might want to get over themselves; the rest of us are too busy laughing at you to hate you.

P.S. McFadden should do fine (just to stay within a parsec of the OP).

I've seen your straw man arguments with other posters, I'm going to swim away. :bye:

:lmao: Whatever - you're the guy claiming he was #1 on everyone's board, when he obviously wasn't.

There is no evidence to support the claim that all 32 teams thought he was the #1 player coming out this year, none. If you think he's going to be all that and a bag of chips than by all means draft away. I have zero interest in DMAC, zero.PositivesHe's fastHe's a better QB than Alex SmithHe can catchHe is no wimpNegativesHe has almost zero side/Lateral movementHe goes down on first contactHe had big gapping holes to run through in Arkansas so Im not impressed despite playing in the SEC.He lead the Collegiate in fumbles. If you can find me one video of McFadden breaking a tackle I would really appreciate it. I'm not talking about gator arm tackles and one hand on him, I mean getting wrapped up and able to break free.

 Whatever -
Yes, we'll leave it at that.

hmm... this one can get interesting but watching him a little bit it seems that he falls down on contact... and if you fall on contact in college... you best believe he's going down easy in the NFL.

Sorry, no internet link for you. I have heard it several times on "Path to the Draft" and "NFL Total Access". Can't link TV so you can take my word for it or not, makes no difference to me.
That's very convenient. You heard it on, not one, but two TV shows, and yet no one else in the entirety of the internet bothered to report it. Makes sense to me!

Report it? Why on gods green earth would this be a "report". This makes no sense to me, report? This "report" business of yours makes you look foolish, what kind of "report" would you expect, please explain. Everyone thought Calvin Johnson was the #1 prospect last year, but I don't recall a "report" about it. And switz, you LOVE some guys and HATE some guys, just like everyone else. You just don't need to use your "Straw Man" arguments, sliding in a straw man every once in a while is fresh, using straw man arguments as a way of life is stale my friend.

Is this shtick? Or are you new to the internet?

The Falcons were so impressed by McFadden that they spent $35 million on some other team's back-up RB rather than draft him.

And from the real reports from the Senior Bowl, this guy was repeatedly trying to bounce everything to the outside.....nothing was mentioned of him running inside even fairly effectively......
