McGahee Injury (1 Viewer)

Anyone have any info on Willis McGahee's injury?

I'm getting mixed info.

From one source I'm reading hand surgery, out possibly 6 weeks.

From another source I'm reading finger surgery, out maybe 1 or 2 weeks.

He's putting up solid RB2 numbers in my league.

With all the bye's and injuries, an owner in my league dropped him and I picked him up.

Any info would be appreciated.

On the audible Jene said Santana Moss got pins inserted for his hand injury whereas Willis didnt. Wehn pins are inserted, the recovery is longer and they have to be taken out. Also were talking a difference between a RB and a WR as it would be more painful to catch a hard pass then carry the ball with your other hand, put more padding on it, etc.

Id be surprised if he plays next week but I think a week 10 return is very possible.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox feels better about RB Willis McGahee's chances of returning to action in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. McGahee is not wearing a cast after having surgery on his right hand last week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McGahee was having a strong season before the injury and is Denver's best RB. If he doesn't return this week we see the Broncos continue to use a RBBC with Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno.

I can't imagine Willis being very effective just two weeks removed from hand surgery. I also don't think it matters who plays, as long as they continue to start Tebow at QB.

Mcgahee was well on his way to 100 yards before getting hurt in miami with Tebow at the helm.
Yup. Moreno and Ball also combined for 130 yards rushing against the Lions. I wouldn't worry about the Broncos' running backs with Tebow.

It was hand surgery, not ankle surgery. If they called it a hand injury, people probably would treat it different. The fact that he's already not wearing a cast is very telling to me.If he's supposed to play this week, he'll be in my lineup.

:goodposting: he basically won't be able to switch hands when holding the rock, thats about it.

McGahee is certainly a high priority target.
 Not understanding your comment if it's intended to be snarky. In my PPR league (no weird scoring), he's averaging 12.2 pts/game, good for 19th amongst RBs....
I get the feeling he was being sarcastic too...but I don't know why. My league is also standard PPR and he is 19. He's a solid RB2. If someone dropped him, he's worth picking up. It's not easy to find an RB2 on waivers in most leagues.

Well he's the same guy who said Adrian Peterson isn't a transcendent talent, so his sarcasm is a waste of bandwidth

Willis McGahee carried the ball with his left hand -- not his surgically repaired right -- during the open portion of Broncos practice Wednesday.

McGahee still can't use his dominant right hand, which makes us think his status is still very much in doubt for Week 9. We'll know more by Friday.

Why does he need to use his right hand? He obviously won't be able to use it by Sunday yet he's practicing as if he's playing. Another reason why Rotoworld is a bunch of dolts.

I need him back, but I'm not counting on seeing him this week. You need both hands to be a RB...

Maybe for blocking situations? Not sure, but hope he comes back cause injuries are making me desperate right now.

I'm guessing he can block with a club hand, obviously not ideal. Catching passes would be tough but he's usually not going to catch more than 1 or 2 a game anyhow.

Playing McGahee may imply that the Broncos are trying to win games, which is inconsistent with the decision to play Tebow. I bet they don't play McGahee.

Broncos | Tim Tebow will start in Week 9

Mon, 31 Oct 2011 13:26:10 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said QB Tim Tebow will start against the Oakland Raiders in Week 9, but Fox said Tebow must improve as a pocket passer if he wants to remain the starter past Week 9. He has completed just 50 percent of his throws and has been sacked 13 times in his two starts this year.

The Denver Broncos playbook in Week 8 was heavily stacked to favor QB Tim Tebow's skill set. The team was in the shotgun for 48 offensive plays - 63 percent of their snaps. Many of the shotgun formations featured three-wide receiver sets with an empty backfield.

I understand being in shotgun might help Tebow, but is an empty backfield really helping him any?

Anyway, looks like Willis be playing this week

I don't know that I have the nads to roll with McGahee this week. I'm glad he's "healthy", and I'm excited to see how he handles the injury on the field, but I need to see him play effectively before I am willing to put him in my lineup. What say you?

are you worried about the hand or the QB situation? the hand should be fine, shot gun formation yet to be seen.

He pretty much is the reason Im going to win this week.

Both of my $$$ league drafts werent as good as usual, but Willis was hands down my best pick of either draft.

Sucks if you questioned his health and benched him this week :excited:
