Team cookout Saturday. Good times.

Buddy has a room (w/ two queen beds) at the Westin Wed>Sat for $800 all in, I think. Great value for the best hotel in the area with regards to quality and proximity. That's basically $225/night plus taxes/fees. A nice discount over what you might find now.

So the owner of the top A/V company in the region is best buddies with a guy on our team. This year we formally added him to the team too. In response he's going bigger than ever.
Sent me this image today.
90" Sharp Aquos Commercial TVs... go for about $7000 each. I've never even SEEN a 90" screen but my buddy's 80" is comically large. I don't even know where we're going to fit those ####### things
Still working on how we're going to mount the spotlights so drunk folks don't burn themselves by touching them or putting their hand in the beam (Which will apparently also burn flesh)
Hats are in and look damn good, IMO. (Edit: Not my noggin)

My BIL works on a laser cutting machine. He does stuff like this on the side for fun.
If you can send me the specs you need for this, i.e., logo, type of metal and thickness, etc. I'll ask him about it. Doubt it will cost much if at all. Also, even if you don't do the projection bit it might be cool to have a stainless steel, aluminum or steel cutout to hang up. If it's a huge digital file send me a link to the file on Google Drive or Dropbox.

Thanks for the offer! Unfortunately our logo is pretty complex so I'm somehow thinking it would be hard to convert to a stencil effect, but if possible that would be great!

The PODS unit hits our warehouse facility today or tomorrow. The plan is to load it up Sunday.
This past weekend we had a Competition rib class with our current pitmaster Troy. Learned a lot about everything from slab selection to finishing and presentation to judges. Nice guy who knows his stuff but reality is setting in that tipsy won't be there again this year... sucks. He's going to be missed badly by most if not all of us.
Tomorrow is our final meeting before the festival. We'll be distributing wristbands/tickets and hopefully Tshirts. The two bartenders, Asheley and Kodie will be meeting up with us at the bar after the meeting to familiarize themselves with the team.
SUN MAY 7: Loading the PODS unit
THUR MAY 11: PODS unit picked up and dropped onsite at MIM. Southern Pride smoker brought in from Jackson, TN and put on site.
FRI MAY 12: Scaffold construction begins
SAT/SUN MAY 13/14: "Load In" where carpet is laid, team hangs banners, lights, and sets up booth.
TUE MAY 16: Meat order picked up at BBKings on Beale
WED MAY 17: Final booth Setup, Light & Sound installed, Kegs/Beer Delivered, Meat Pre-cook, Freinds & Family night at booth 5-10PM
THUR MAY 18 thru SAT MAY 20th: BBQFEST
SUN MAY 21st: Booth Tear-down and load out.

I guess I am not going to make it this year. I booked hotel and flight back in January using the original dates posted May 11th - 14th. Unfortunately those were the wrong dates. Costs have tripled since January so I'm going to pass. I can't re-book at 3x the cost. I'll try to make it next year.

To clarify what happened, MIM has always been the weekend after the 2nd full week of May (with musicfest preceding it by 2 weeks). I posted dates off that trend back in January, then posted corrected dates after it was revealed Memphis in May broke format. Unfortunately JoeT booked on my original post which I'm really sorry for. Had I thought about it I should have gone back and changed/edited that post. 100% my bad.
The hotel wouldn't have been TOO bad to change (I was wondering how he got the hotel he did at that killer price), and I offered to try to source a great deal on an extra room a buddy may have had, but I'm guessing the airfare change was prohibitive. I'm really sorry.

I'm guessing it went from Mediocrehole has gone full-on Blackhole as I'd be surprised if Jeep wants to drive up solo given he was planning on crashing with JoeT. :(

I'll call in a favor with BBQFest committee next year around sept/oct to get them to leak the dates to me. HAve already cozied up good with new director of ops after buying the office BBQ. Once I have a FIRM date I'll gladly relay and can look into a FFA block of rooms before rates shoot up. Maybe even throw an FFA Shtick banner up in the booth.
if anyone wants to pull a last minute drop in this year, the door is open.

Thanks cos. It is more difficult for me to get off of work that week than it would be the week before. So logistically I doubt I can swing it. If I quit my job though in the next week, I'm definitely in.
