ESPNews reports NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue will retire in July.
You have my respect Pete Rosell.
Who are the likely suspects to replace him? Anyone have the short list? You have my respect Pete Rosell.

Roger Goodell, the NFL's chief operating officer, and Atlanta general manager Rich McKay are the two leading candidates to succeed Tagliabue. Baltimore Ravens president **** Cass is considered a dark horse.
You're right about not going with an owner. I don't believe any NFL owners are even so much as lobbying for the job.Longtimers will remember that Pete Rozelle was the fresh-faced thirty-something GM of the Los Angeles Rams before becoming the league's commissioner. I like the idea of a young guy who could serve 30 years.Regarding his replacement, one look at what has happened to baseball under Selig tells me that an owner is not the way to go here.
I'll back Goodell, the protoge, here.
he may retire one day? What does any of this have to do with TO?
Tags wouldn't have retired if the packers had signed TOWhat does any of this have to do with TO?
Are you a radiers fan by any chance?I always thought "Tags" acted like a New England Patriots homer.
Sorry, but I won't miss him.
Hmmm, TO for commish....I think I like that idea. What does any of this have to do with TO?
Act #4: Bring back the bump and run for the DB's - the offenses are to wide open now with the PI calls. I like defensive football; 10-7 can be a good game.Act #5: No cut blocking - If you are not face up on a guy you can not hit him at the knees.I hereby submit my resume for the job. The NFL needs a strong leader to guide it for the next few decades. Once the job is offered and accepted...
Act #1: Under the "If it's ain't muddy, it ain't football" rule, artificial turf will henceforth be abolished. Existing stadiums may be grandfathered, but no new stadiums with turf may be built.
Act #2: Under the "I like to watch football without the mute button" rule, any networks employing John Madden, Joe Theisman, or Paul MacGuire as NFL announcers are hereby excluded from bidding on NFL games. All other announcers must pass an official annoying test before being allowed a second year in the booth.
Act #3: Instant replay is removed until a system is devised in which the replay officials can consistently make the proper call. Slowing the game down in order to botch the call more often than not anyway will no longer be tolerated.
No, I don't like the Raiders at all. Fagliabue just always seemed to take the Patriots' side on everything. He and Kraft acted like butt buddies. Are you a radiers fan by any chance?I always thought "Tags" acted like a New England Patriots homer.
Sorry, but I won't miss him.
