Mexico City - Best Restaurants? (1 Viewer)

We're going for a few days at the beginning of April. Most restaurants I've researched are already booked solid, or are not accepting reservations yet.

Any recommendations? We're looking for quality, focusing on contemporary over traditional, if possible.

I've booked at La Hacienda and am awaiting word back from San Angel. Unfortunately, Pujol is already booked solid while we're there.😟

Sonora Prime. Cool ambiance and the lomo and prime rib were incredible. My understanding is it's the more pricey upscale version of Sonora Grille, but I didn't go to Sonora Grille so I can't compare.

For a great taqueria experience I recommend El Califa.

I also liked the Capital Grille. It's been a couple of years but got this big delicious steak, big enough for two. They brought it out and sliced it into long strips. I can't remember which it was, but looking at the menu it might have been "Ribeye Añejado en Mantequilla 21 Días (623 gr), assuming what we got is still on the menu.

There are two in the top 50 of the world - Pujol and Quintonil. If you can get in. I don't think they are particularly expensive either (compared to other top top restaurants).

Do burger/bbq joints come with the disclaimer “An American Restaurant” similar to clearly Mexican restaurants do here in the SE states?  El Torro, A Mexican Restaurant; thanks for that clarification, lol
