MFL down? (1 Viewer)

Guys, I agree that the MFL server going down sucks big time. However, everyone realizes that the commish can make lineup changes after kick-off, right?

There is a standing rule that I simply told my league to send out an e-mail to the opponent and the commish (and preferably the whole league) of any last minute changes you can't make.

Server comes back up, changes are made by commish... Rock on...

It doesn't solve the MFL server issue going down, but it doesn't have to be the end of the world either...

that is unacceptable... I as a commish can not be trapped on my computer, sorting emails for multiple leagues, making changes for an hour, and paying $89.99 a year!!!!!!!!!! I rather just move the league to ESPN or Yahoo. You, as a great service, want to make it up too me and every other customer using your service that is having a problem... refund us for this year and ensure us that it will not happen again.

Miss the earlybird discount? :lmao: I agree though, it is pretty disappointing that we pay for this product and it has failed to work at a crucial time for two weeks in a row...

This was a big problem in my one MFL league as well. If any have contacted MFL, I'd very much like to hear they're response (when received).Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the access issues today before kickoff. We had some database problems that caused access problems for some leagues, and we are working to diagnose and resolve it so it doesn't happen again in the future.
God bless system generated emails..Thanks for the feedback. We sincerely apologize for the problems before kickoff! We had some database access problems on our end that caused some owners to have problems accessing their leagues. We are working diligently to fix the problem so it doesn't occur again in the future.- MikeMFL... kiss my $250 a yr good bye

It is unacceptable for you as commish to provide your league with a reasonable alternate means of communication/access in case of emergency? I have a feeling you're in a very small minority that a responsible commissioner should take that stance.

who ever said that I denied anyone anything...
You did. Someone just said it doesn't have to be the end of the world as you made it sound, and detailed how easy it is to have a contingency plan and you said and I quote, "that is unacceptable... I as a commish can not be trapped on my computer, sorting emails for multiple leagues, making changes for an hour, and paying $89.99 a year!!!!!!!!!!" It isn't even like you have to be sitting there at the computer during that hour, you can go fix the lineups at any time as need be.I don't care what you're paying, it doesn't change the point that a responsible commish needs an alternate means of handling things available to the league. If you had one this would have been a minor inconvenience for you. No one has exonerated MFL of blame in it and have expressly said otherwise. But $89.99 times the number of leagues on any site is not enough to pay for 100% up time. Even apart from the FF company's own control over their own servers, sections of the internet may go down or owners may have real life emergencies that keep them from a computer for awhile, but still want to be good owners and run their teams.

so I should pay 89.99 a year and sort emails for multiple leagues, making changes for an hour....

my friends... 89.99 is a ton of money when the competitor is free.... thats all I'm saying

and their reponse is some system generated email... come on!!! nice customer service.

GregR... you can just lay there and take it... I'm not... I want a refund on a product that I spent close too a $100 and isn't working correctly.

I don't think there is an option that is guaranteed to work 100% of the time. It just doesn't exist.

Paid $60 here, did not have any issues this week, last week or ever and this I know to be true... my last two years with CBS were filled with down time, errors etc etc and they charged double the price. Yes it sucks that SOME leagues had issues and I feel for ya, however it wasn't a majority and MFL is still much better then many of the alternatives.

:goodposting: then y pay for it...so what everyone that didn't have a problem is saying is SOL to those that did have a problem the last 2 weeks... thanks

What part of this are you not getting? How much you pay for a site doesn't change the fact you should have a means of owners submitting transactions when they cannot get to the league site. If you want to leave MFL because one of their servers had problems two weeks in a row, then leave them. I don't care. But you seem to be much better at criticizing other's failings than you are at taking responsibility for the fact it wouldn't have taken any significant effort on your part to have kept it from being an issue for your league when it occurred.

While I too am disappointed with MFL's service this week and lack of response to it, I can guarantee you from personal experience that there is no better site out there. All the big ones have issues, too. You say you want a refund and you're going elsewhere, well, I say you're going to run out of places to go real soon.

I think your answer is simple. If you are dissatisfied with MFL's service then leave. Yaho is still accepting leagues for free.

so... again... for the people who are dissapointed in this lack of service... do you just sit there and read your system generated email and say "OK, they'll try harder next week" or do you stand up and demand some action?

once you get into the season this far, it is waaaay to much work to manually migrate a league to another service

if you are unhappy, post requests on message boards to find another hosting site that is better and go with them next year

I have 4 free leagues with ESPN and 1 paid with MFL (as a trial). I plan on migrating at least 2 of the ESPN leagues to MFL for 2008.

I wasn't on that much yesterday but did not experience any issues on server 34

I'm not sure how much luck you will have requesting some sort of a refund....let us know how you make out.

If I can get some back up on this and enough angry users that could write emails to the site demanding refunds or their bailing... then it might happen.

Alright, I'm getting sick of this. Just shut the #### up already about me. People here tried to suggest to you that your league need not be affected by this downtime as there are other easy options to avoid problems if they should occur. They tried to point out that you can't guarantee 100% reliability ANYWHERE so you need to plan for it when somewhere goes down. I see that Bonscott who has always been a very helpful poster over on MFL's boards said the exact same thing to you there.Rather than take some personal responsibility, including the responsibility a commish has to his league, and consider doing so while you deal with the issues you've had with MFL... you choose to ignore the entire content of the posts and fabricate your own meanings for them to be something telling you that you shouldn't be upset with MFL. It doesn't matter when I said to you, "If you want to leave MFL because one of their servers had problems two weeks in a row, then leave them." You're going to insert your own meaning for anything I say and completely ignore what my post actually says. From your actions here I really don't have anything more to say to you that I can say without violating Joe's "be excellent to one another" rule. If you want to leave MFL then leave them. If you want to call them and complain, then call them and complain. If your conduct here is an example of what their interactions with you are like, leaving them would probably be doing them a favor. But stop putting words in my worth that I never even came close to saying.

I haven't noticed any problems with my leagues, but I agree with this. Having tried many other services, I have found that MFL is usually the best bang for my buck. All my dynasty leagues have been on MFL and we rarely run into issues, my local league has been trying to find a good place, but no one on there ever listens to me about MFL. We have been changing league sites for five years in a row now. Eventually, MFL will be their only choice left. :censored:

You are the only angry one. I think most of the other people are at one with reality.

Some of you are posting in this thread have lost site of why this thread was even created.... this thread was created for those that have been affected by MFL going down 2 weeks in a row and we demand answers and action... not some generated email with promises...

now I may be a little too passionate about these types of things and I'm sorry; but someone needs to be... if it was Yahoo or ESPN then I would just say; "you get what u pay for"... but its different here; this thing cost nearly $100. I understand that there are some that LOVE MFL and will continue to agrue that they are a great service... but until I see sometype of action (some cash back; reduce next yrs $$ to the leagues that were affected; or something like that), I disagree.

If this happens next week... then you all have to be outraged.

Let's not let the bickering muddy up the point that MFL has really pooped the bed the past couple weeks. they need to get their act together, and fast.

Hmmmpph. Fanball (considered a training wheels fantasy site) has had 0 issues this year for my league. Go figure.

I was on your side until you got really annoying. If you want to ##### endlessly about this, please do it in an email to MFL, not the shark pool. No one here is going to give you your $100 back.

AOL is free and was perfect last year and has been thus far this year. I really don't understand why more people aren't using them.

I didn't thank you, and I'm not backing you up. HTH.Again, you're not going to "get somewhere" if you keep crying to a bunch of FBG's.

LOL, last year sportsline wasn't working and *everyone*, their mother, father and red-headed stepchild said MFL was the best, better go to them, sportsline is horrible, blah blah blah.

LOL

rant rant rant... blah blah blah... whine whine whine
I've had a few interactions with Mike Hall at MFL. I've been in a league with GregR before. Both are quality people. You, however, are loud, obnoxious, and a waste of bandwidth in my opinion. Best of luck to you in your pending lawsuit.

:pickle: there is so much :goodposting: here for MFL that people are losing sight that its crapped out 2 or 3 times now in the 1st 5 weeks of the season.
No what is happening is that the problems SOME people have had with MFL have only happend on a FEW servers. Its the minority not the majority. So while those of us who have not had any problems in the past two years with MFL feel bad for those who have, we just out number you guys :pickle:

Well my league has rules in place just in case the site we have our league hosted on goes down. It doesn't mean that MFL shouldn't be held accountable for not having your sites up, but it also doesnt mean that your league shouldn't not have come up with some sort of plan in case "technology" failed. I also back up files on my PC, photocopy my mortgage payment stubs and get my oil changed ever 3k miles even though it really doesnt need it.

I just don't see why you guys are giving this site a Free pass this year... they have dropped the ball twice and its only 5 weeks into the season..

if it was RTS / Yahoo / ESPN / Fanball or any other site you guys would be outraged... but since the site's 3 letters are M.F.L.; most people posting here are like... "Just back it up and fix it when it goes back on... chill out."

KH,

I really do feel for your league and I know I would be pissy if it happend to mine. But as I said it only happened to a couple of servers. It was not a wide spread problem like the ones that happened to CBS etc etc.

Is there something you would like us to do?

I guess not; atleast your not screaming back at me.... what ever happen to CBS after last yr... didn't they offer sometype of discount after last yr?? I know they still lost quite a bit of business after that.
