MFL - Yahoo email notification problems (1 Viewer)

From what I've read Yahoo has gotten really crazy with their spam filters and MFL emails are getting blocked.

Another reason to go with gmail. :D

nope, not the issue. not sure what it is, but this isn't it -- there's nothing in the spam folders, either.

Getting them a day late here too. My own team's waiver e-mail (from dropping a player) wound up in my Spam too. My team's daily player update e-mail each morning comes in late too.

Yahoo is blocking the email at *their* end on the servers. Basically MFL is on their "blacklist". It's never even getting to your spam folder let alone your mailbox. Yahoo has done this for years and is why many people have left their email service. They want to coddle people that can't take care of their own spam.

:lmao: I'm getting the emails just a day or two late at times. They are not being blocked and it's inconsistent. Sometimes they come through right away. FWIW this just started happening recently. Never had this problem with Yahoo until a month or so ago.

When it's delayed it's getting "stuck" on their spam filtering servers.Yahoo has had this problem (along with AOL and Hotmail) for years. I remember back maybe 3 or so years ago this happened in the middle of the season and it was a huge firestorm. Yahoo and AOL were blocking MFL (and other "fantasy" football emails from other services) as spam since they came in all the time. MFL had a heck of a time getting Yahoo and AOL to not consider MFL spam. Gmail just plain does not have this issue. They assume you actually want your email. Imagine that!

Second (or third) year in a row it's happened to me. Some go to spam, some show up five days late, some show up immediately. No rhyme or reason.

:lmao: bonscott speaks the truth. The multi-day delays are caused by Yahoo's mail servers refusing to accept email from the MFL mail servers. They'll listen to the entire connect attempt, then respond with a 421 or 451 "Message Temporarily Deferred" reply. The sending server can only toss the message back in its delivery queue and try again a few hours later. If the sender is pushing out a huge volume of emails, this can happen 10+ times before the message is actually accepted for delivery by Yahoo's mail servers. If a message is deferred enough times in a row, the mail server will give up and mark the message undeliverable.Gmail is by far the best mailhost out there at sifting out spam and delivering the messages you want to receive, IMO. None of the others are anywhere close.
