Miami Dolphins...Nick Saban...2007 off season wish list (1 Viewer)

I think Urban Meyer could be had for the right price. He has to know that win or lose this might be the only BCS Championship he ever coaches in. He was whining to get in towards the end of the season becasue he knows how hard it is to get there. Zook had these same players and couldn't do anything. Meyer takes the same squad and produces a winner. There is some talent in Miami, he might only need a couple of drafts to and some FA signings to get things turned around.

Meyer to me always seemed like he wanted to go to Florida over ND because he felt he couldn't win as easily at ND...but now the SEC is so rough and tough, you never get a cupcake on the schedule. Saban going into the SEC only makes it worse. Imagine sitting down and trying to recruit a player in the SouthEast part of the country and you are competing with Saban, Spurrier, Fulmer, Tubberville, Nut, the list goes on and on...and then you throw in some of the ACC which is down right now but will correct itself. This is Meyer's chance if he wants to make the leap into the NFL.

That said, I think college coaches have a pretty bad track record in the NFL. Look at the ones that win SB...Bellichick, Billick, Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden...most of those guys were assistants in the NFL and then became Head Coaches...I can't really think of a guy that jumped form the NCAA to the NFL and won a SB withing a couple seasons except...Jimmy Johnson.

I think the way to go might be to find a hot offensive or defensive coordinator but the names I see mentioned do not seem very exciting.
