Michael Bush (1 Viewer)

Word inside Raiderland is he is healthy and anxious to go.

Healthy RBs not named Rhodes have looked very good in the Oakland ZBS this year even with extreme struggles in the passing game. If Fargas doesn't stay healthy (a good probability), then Bush may get an opportunity to show what he can do and given his talent, it could be a nice return for some desperate owners willing to stash him for a few weeks.

Slowmont looks done. That guy needs his back to get healthy. His stats since the back injury are putrid.

Fargas looks great, but can he keep it up? His history says no.

IIRC, OAK has only one week left to activate him or place him on IR. I am not in the loop as far as Raiders news goes. Anyone know why he has not been activated within the past two weeks?

A well respected poster on the Raiders board had this to say after a recent meeting with Mr. Bush...

"I asked him about stuff leading up to his activation, and I will share some of what he said.

When asked about being ready, he told me he was very ready to play and was anxious to take the field.

When asked about conditioning, he told me he has been working out daily and is ready to go.

When asked about being activated, he has hopes that it will happen, but this is the week it would have to happen.

As a parting shot, I asked him to teach Jordan to hit the hole with more authority. He kinda smiled, then I said, never mind that, just replace him. He smiled big, shook my hand and told me that that is exactly what he is going to do.

Nice guy, and fun to be around"

My potential reason for concern is that Bush along has said he's been ready, willing, and able and the team has not openly shared that opinion and has been in no rush to get him on the field.

Seeing how they are the ones that call the shots, I'm inclined to wonder what their rationale is.

I am not sure Da Raiders have any.......

The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to wait to get Rhodes back on the active roster before activating Bush. Doing so would allow them the opportunity to carry the 37 CBs the started the season with.Honestly, I think it was just that they wanted to make sure he was fully recovered.

Today... Per rotoworld

Michael Bush (PUP, leg) began practicing with the Raiders Wednesday.

The rookie from Louisville worked with the Raiders' scout team. If he's activated within the next three weeks, Bush could see a few touches, but is only worth keeping on dynasty league rosters. He's still not 100 percent.

I'm interested in this situation...I'm thinking of dropping D. Ward for him. They way Jacobs is playing it would take an injury for him to get some time, but perhaps Bush will get some looks without an injury having to occur?

Kiffin has a Bush in the backfield again

ALAMEDA – Here’s your report of what’s happening at Raiders practice (during stretching and special teams work).

Michael Bush has finally been given clearance to practice. The rookie running back from Louisville isn’t on the active roster as of now.

But after spending the entire season on the physically unable to perform list, Bush is happy to be on the field, even if it’s just for the scout team.

The Raiders have three weeks before they have to decide whether to add Bush to the active roster.

I wouldn't drop Ward yet especially not for Bush, it seems the raiders actually want to give fargas more touches. He didn't play Sunday but before that he was getting some csrries and who knows if Jacobs can stay healthy.

I think grabbing Bush now is a smart move in dynasty/contract leagues.

Redraft, though, forget about it.

Bush off PUP per CBS:

Michael Bush, RB OAK

News: According to InsideBayArea.com, Raiders RB Michael Bush was in pads and practicing with the team for the first time on Wednesday. He has been taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list but has an exemption before going on the 53-man roster.

I'm not so quick to dismiss him in a redraft if he's healthy. There really isn't much competition for him on that team after Fargas unless Jordan's back miraculously heals.

Im tempted to drop Derrick Ward for him in a redraft as well...if he's healthy, he could give Fargas a run for his money and definitely get some touches

I might  take a chance on him as well...he is and will be the best RB on that team.

Dang, can't decide whether to hold on to Fargas or drop him for Rhodes. I have a feeling one of these two has a lot of fantasy points in them left this year.

Fargas: 4th year, improving, explosive speed, 6'1'' 220, tough - used to be weight room weight, but has been maturing physically the last few years and seems to have more natural weight now. Robotic, poor vision most of the time. When he runs with even marginal ability to read blocks and flow, he blasts forward in huge chunks of yards. No historical durability when given workhorse load; runs too upright. Decent hands. Seems better suited as a COP RB.

Bush: 1st year potential stud RB. Coming off severe leg break in 1st game of 2006 college season. Projected 1st rd pick prior to injury. Huge with good feet, quickness and burst. 245 lbs. Bettis-type potential. Durable until freak leg break. Has not yet been seen against NFL competition to gauge next level ability. Leg is supposedly healed, but who knows for sure. Could fit in very nicely into ZBS scheme with his backside cut back vision. Needs to run with more power given size. Like a younger, bigger Jordan before the back injury.

Will it be the vet who is about to get a big opportunity to be the man or the supposedly healthy rookie with big time potential?

– Michael Bush put on shoulder pads for the first time in a year and two months, getting a chance to run with the scout team. Bush said Kiffin greeted him the locker room and asked if he felt like practicing.

"Went out there and had some fun," Bush said. "I'm in my own little world out there. I was on scout team, but that's better than anything. I'll take it."

Kiffin said Bush got in lots of work and expects, expects that he will be sore Thursday and that the coaching staff will keep pushing him. Bush, he said, looked fluid for someone who hadn't worked in a team setting for more than a year.

"A lot of the stuff you don't lose," Kiffin said. "You have to touch it up with the new quarterbacks he’s working with but he’s a real natural athlete. He was a great player in high school that played all kinds of positions and could do anything."

– When Bush set foot on the field, it started a 21-day clock. If Bush is to be placed on the 53-man roster this year, he must be activated within those 21 days. If not, he will have to wait until next year.

Seems like he might be on the roster but not active this week, especially if Jordan can go. We might be able to get through another week or more in non-psychotic leagues until he shows them something in practice or someone gets hurt.

Guys, I just heard some inside info out of Raiderland that will soon make Fargas and/or Bush MUCH more valuable for THIS season. If you need an RB and have a spare roster spot, I'd advise you pick up whichever of these two you like the best.

Can't share any details yet, but I'll touch back when the official news breaks sometime between later today and Monday.

hmm. Rhodes sux and Jordan going on IR?

There was already a rumor floated that Rhodes might be released. Maybe that's it.

Can't help but wonder if it's related to the rumors that Rhodes is about to be cut, but Al Davis wants to make sure he won't be claimed by the Bucs or Broncos. As a Bush owner, I can't wait to hear.

Hope you are right, I just dropped the studly Pierre Thomas for Bush.

Interesting. My guess (being a non-Raiders homer) is that either:a) Rhodes is released;orb) Jordan goes on IR due to his backNot being a Raiders homer, I could be dead wrong here, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the Raiders backfield consist of Bush and Fargas next year with Fargas being the more COP guy. At worst, I see Bush as the GL short-yardage guy.

Rhodes being released wouldn't figure to make anyone MUCH more valuable.

IMO the only significant shakeup would have to involve Jordan.

That's what I would guess.
That's not really insider info ... That info has been going around for a couple of weeks. If that's it this sux and has no additional affect on Fragas or Bush.I picked up Fargas because although Jordan is playing something is obviously wrong ... he has averaged 2.1 yds per carry over the last 3 games (41 Carries)

***RUMOR (seen on another message board)***

Jordan to be released. No further details offered and, again, purely speculative, IMO. But, better to share some info than none at all (appropriately marked, of course).

That would put Rhodes back into the mix
Do you have a link? That wouldn't make much sense...why would they release Lamont Jordan? The guy was doing pretty well until his injury. Are you sure it wasn't Rhodes?

Agreed it doesn't make much sense, but here you go:http://www.fantasysharks.com/forum/viewtop...&highlight=

Hmmm, interesting. It may be best to grab Fargas and Bush and see how all of this shakes out this weekend. I know Fargas may not be available in some leagues, but I would guess Bush is available in most redrafts.

Not sure what to do now. (I've been holding A.Hall and Priest in hopes of some kind of story book season.)

Yeah I can't buy this. IIRC he's got a while left on his contract, and was running well before he was hurt. So even if he was bad enough off to end his season, I don't understand why they'd release rather than putting him on IR, but I'm certainly no GM.Edited: Saw the link above, and thanks.

NFL contracts are not guaranteed. Bonus money (up front) is usually all they're on the hook for. There could be salary cap implications though.

That said I'd be shocked if they let Jordan go. I could see IR and Rhodes released though.

This thread is about to gain a whole lotta steam...someone should change the thread title.
who would have greater value going forward, Michael Bush or Chris Henry ( Tenn)?Henry seems to be a beast, but will likely be stuck in a RBBC forever, while Bush should eventually take over as the #1 RB in Oak, a team that doesn't use RBBC.

Is this where you got your information from? (the other board)

Just wondering if you are hearing the same thing or just reporting it from the other site.

Worst part of this thread is that I was sitting on Jordan, Rhodes & Fargas w/ 2 pickups remaining before last weeks game and I am thin at WR so I made a decision to drop Fargas (since he barely touched the ball in the previous week) for Chris Henry. After last weeks performance another owner grabbed Fargas off the waiver wire so here I sit with 4 weeks to go before the playoffs with one pickup remaining and Michael Bush sitting on the free agent list. It's inevitable that I'm damned either way I go....

Yes posting your team transactions is definitely the worst part of this thread. :pickle:
