Michael Floyd WR ARI (1 Viewer)

I did a quick search for Michael Floyd in the forums and to my surprise I did not see a single thread dedicated to him. Its been kind of quiet about him all around minus the fitzgerald calling him out for a "DWI - Don't Want It" for not showing up to his wr camp.

I just read a small tidbit that he is starting to really stand out in camp this week.

What are people thinking about this kid? I have heard he is on the level of an AJ green physical talent wise.

Does anyone think he will make noise for Arizona in 2012? What kind of year do you think he can have with single coverage from opposing teams #2 CBs all year long opposite fitzy?

He seems really intriguing to me. In many redraft mocks I don't even see this kid being drafted rt now...Am I missing something?

Also any Arizona homers on here that can give the inside scoop on his situation currently and his outlook? Have you been to practices? What are beat writers saying? Do you think whiz will actually give the rookie a shot to start or does he typically hold rookies back like john fox and coughlin?

The problem is that the #2 WR spot is crowded in AZ. Roberts, Doucet, and Flyod will all play the 2,3,4 spots this year and they will all eat into each other's stats.

In a dynasty I'd say Floyd is worth a hold, but in a redraft, he's probably not worth a roster spot right now. If he wins the #2 outright in camp (doubtful), then that may change. Also, I could envision him taking over the #2 halfway through the year, but again, it's risky to draft a guy based upon that.

Not a guy I'm targeting in redrafts this year. Roster spots are too precious. I'd give him maybe a 10-12% chance of playing well enough that I'd want to pick him up, and maybe less than that given the hideous QB situation in AZ.

doubtful he can beat out roberts and even i he can theres not enough opportunity to go around.

Him and Blackmon are both guys I am targeting. Teams don't spend top-15 picks on platoon WRs. It may take some time for them to adjust to the NFL and there is always bust potential, but I fully believe both will be given a shot this year and could put up Green/Jones #s. I'll take a chance on Floyd over an aging veteran as a backup WR.

He has a zero percent chance of putting up Green/Jones numbers this year.

Most of us would have given Green a near zero percent chance last year of doing what he did with a rookie QB in Dalton as well...crazier things have happened. That being said, Skelton is the only QB in Ariz that COULD possibly make Floyd fantasy relevant and that is only if Larry is double/triple teamed and Skelton takes a huge step forward. MUCH better bet in dynasty than re-drafts, wouldn't go after either in re-drafts.

I'm not giving Floyd a near zero percent chance. I'm giving him an actual zero percent chance of putting up those numbers.I really like him, and I hope he wins the #2 spot, and I think he will win it eventually. But the QB situation in AZ is bad, Fitz is a big mouth to feed, and there are three guys vying for targets after Fitz. I just don't see any way that Floyd puts up Green/Jones numbers this year.

I'm pretty much agreeing with you. I would say this...when was the last time we actually saw a rookie WR put up numbers like Julio and Green? Floyd could have a VERY good year for a rookie WR and still only come up with half of what Julio/Green put up.

Well he certainly did nothing tonight to help his case on the depth chart. Then again the entire Arizona offense minus fitzy looked horrendous.

Tonight was actually good for Cards passing game outlook...Skelton should win the battle and is almost competent in the pocket, unlike Kolb.

Where would you rank Skelton as a starter in the NFL? Top20? Bottom 5?
Smart question. Let's see, for 2012 he's in the very bottom tier for me, in some order-SanchezGabbertWeedenPonderSkeltonThat's probably my bottom 5-six if Tannehill starts

Exactly MOM, and if he is bottom 5 then we can agree that the climate for the skill position players in AZ is not too good.

In college, Floyd was the guy who had all the skills but none of the heart. He was punched in the gut and left his most recent bowl game. The word is going to get out on this player and defenses will target him. He's soft. It's a real trend. Whether it's injuries or getting arrested, he is not reliable for his football teams and it's fair to question if he's reliable for fantasy football teams.

I loved Floyd going to AZ because I think Fitz is a guy that, if anyone can, can reach him and teach him how to be a real pro. I find it at least "similar" to Randy Moss going to the Vikings. At the time, there probably wasn't a better team he could have went to due to the presence of Cris Carter.

I also look at guys like Julio and AJ Green having early success. Its rare but it happens. Didn't happen with Calvin on that level. Didn't happen with Fitz really. Never happened with jennings. But it happens. But let's toss out Green because Julio's situation is closer to similar. Julio plays with a very talented Roddy white. So you could maybe see a chance of Floyd having his own role if he has the talent.

But then you realize the Cardinals are not as good as the falcons at almost any area. So the opportunities become less, the QB is certainly not as good. The run game and line isn't the same threat.

I think when you start looking at ALL the pieces, you can see the talant but get the sense that it won't come quick; or at least not until other things fall into place. And a 28-29 year old Fitz isn't the same as a 30+ Roddy either. I think Floyd will be ok if he keeps focused but it will take some time and with guys that have questionable "focus", it concerns me some whether or not he might become frustrated or bored that he doesn't ascend quickly. I don't like Floyd in a redraft right now and I think I would have a hard time rostering him in a dynasty because I think you may be holding him for multiple years before you ever get any sense at all what he might be.

Great insight.

I can't believe I'm more inclined to take a guy like Alshon Jeffery than the 13th overall pick when he falls into my lap. Anyone have anything nice to say about Michael Floyd that might help talk some sense back into me?

I hate taking any WR that will never have an opportunity to be a #1 option in a mediocre passing game. I wouldn't touch Floyd in any type of league.

Pretty brutal that he cant beat out Roberts or Doucet.
Why do you say that? Waldman seems to think Roberts is legit. Wrote a nice piece on him as a rookie, I believe. Roberts makes for a nice sleeper while suckers fixate on Floyd.

Your history on Arizona QBs not so good.

Who is Waldman? Ive seen Roberts play...he stinks.

Who is Waldman?

That is your first problem.

Matt Waldman. Follow on twitter @MattWaldman and visit http://mattwaldmanrsp.com.

Seriously, Roberts is talented and will make a nice WR3 one day assuming AZ ever finds a QB. Likely will end up in the slot. This whole preseason he's been getting open and making plays (if not spectacular).

I've just been impressed with how Blackmon and Wright have adapted so quickly in comparison...
