Not a good game last night by Lewis. Given his production in Philly I thought we could expect more. I know P Willis was soaking up a lot of tackles and Arizona was not doing much in regards to running the ball, however is this what we can expect out of Lewis (or close to it) or is this just a one time deal.

I feel ya too; But its only one game... SF's pass rush was outstanding last night, and the LBs never really allowed EJ to get to the secondary.I wouldn't worry yet.

I am worried. Most plays he didn't even make it into the SHOT!!! So far back from the play. Late in the second half, he started to show up around the play. Usually a cople seconds after the tackle was made. :( :checkingwaiverwire:

Just re-watching this game now.

The Niners played Cover-2 all night long to keep Fitzgerald and Boldin in front of them. Both Mark Roman and Michael Lewis played well off the line of scrimmage. The Cardinals kept running Edge, to the tune of 26 carries despite a poor YPC and no long runs, to get the Niners out but were never able to due to the aggressive play of the SF ILBs and the dominance of the front seven overall.

If the front seven can contain Steven Jackson and Lewis struggles to get into the boxscore again next week, then it's time to worry. For now, I'd consider chalking it up to Chris Hope/Kerry Rhodes type games against the Colts.

Thanks Jene...

Keith Lewis time? :fishing:
Between Keith Lewis and Brandon Moore, I'm not sure what Mike Nolan sees sometimes. Then again, I'm just an idiot on a couch. I'm pretty comfortable saying Mark Roman didn't look good in run support or tackling last night. The Cover-2 held the two stud Arizona wideouts in check though, so he must have been doing something right in coverage.

There is absolutely no sane reason why Derek--oops I missed another tackle--Smith is playing over BMoore. Argh. Its not Lewis time yet...let Roman pull a few more stupid penalties first.

I agree Lewis was playing deep a lot of the time, and with Willis and D. Smith infront of him, he didn't see much action. But he did line up near the line of scrimage on occasion and was sent on blitz's. It just seems like he was a step slow or was just missing the tackles. I'll give him another week. I may regret selecting him over A. Archutea as my final DB.
