Michael Turner 2007 - Back in SD? (1 Viewer)

Just curious what people are thinking about Michael Turner in 2007 - a Restricted Free Agent. I'm not sure how the Restricted part works - but if I understand correctly, if SD does something they can demand a 1st round pick for Turner....are there teams willing to do that? And if so who???

Seem to recall one NFL "expert" say that Turner could end up in NY to compliment Jacobs.

If SD put the highest tender on him *I think* a team would need to give up a 1st and 3rd for Turner.

Not much has changed in this regard and there are several multiple page threads on this exact topic.

Agreed. In any event, I don't expect him to be signed away given the price tag, although what's working in his favor is the lack of top tier UFAs (Brown, Duckett and Betts are the most prominent), and perhaps no clear-cut high 1st round rookie RBs beyond Peterson.

Just what the Giants need, giving SD more draft picks...

Teams that I could see having an interest in Turner, irrespective of likelihood and CAP implications:

AFC:

North:

Baltimore Ravens

Cleveland Browns

South:

Houston Texans

East:

New York Jets

West:

Denver Broncos

NFC:

North:

Green Bay Packers

South:

East:

New York Giants

West:

Arizona Cardinals

You're most likely correct that he will be the backup again in SD next year, but after that he is a FA. I think he has the talent to hold him even as a handcuff to LT.

As far as Arizona goes, I did qualify my statement by saying 'irrespective of likelihood and CAP implications'. Maybe I'm alone in thinking James is finished though.
