Middle 1st round rookie picks 2008 (1 Viewer)

If you have a pick in the middle of the 1st round, say 1.5 thru 1.8 after the big 4. Let's discuss who you are looking to draft or who have you been able to trade for. I have the 1.7 pick and trying to figure out if I should hang on to the pick or trade it.

As of now I like Rice but he probably won't fall to 1.7, after that I don't have a good feeling about Charles so I'm thinking Smith, Johnson, or Kelly.

Pick, I would think- Rice, Charles, Smith, Forte, Johnson, Choice, Ryan, Kelly

Trade, what type of players in this range ????

I think that in most leagues, the first five (maybe six) picks will be running backs. This means that the 1.06 or 1.07 will be the first QB or first WR off the board. Right now, I have the following picks valued in dynasty at:

1.04 = RB23

1.05 = RB27

1.06 = RB36

1.07 = QB18, RB51, or WR28

1.08 should be the same as 1.07, except the WR would be WR32 if 1.07 is a WR. I know valuation this might sound odd, but this is how I have them right now until we know more about the players' combine workouts and the situations.

In a rebuilding mode I have the 1.03, 1.08, and 1.09. With the first pick I am going with a RB, big surprise there. However I am excited because I desperatly need QB's and WR's on my team so I think with the 1.08 and 1.09 I have a chance of getting the top QB and WR possible.

Barring great situations from some of those 2nd tier RB's like Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, etc., I'm going to try to package both of those picks for a top 3 or 4 pick. Not sure if anyone in the top 4 will bite but I would think mine to be a fair offer.

Pending situation, Ray Rice is easily in my top 5. At the moment, I'd take him over everybody you've listed.

I don't think it's bad - essentially, he's thinking that Ginn is better than whomever he gets at 1.7. Not a reach, since Ginn came on decent at the end of last year, and is in line for #1 or #2 job.

I'd actually think you were not paying nearly enough. I think 1.1-1.3 go for ton this year. At least that is what I am seeing trying to get one of them.

I'd actually think you were not paying nearly enough. I think 1.1-1.3 go for ton this year. At least that is what I am seeing trying to get one of them.

I agree with Jeff above that this year the first 5 or maybe 6 picks are RBs this year. I just don't see a qb or wr that really jumps out to be taken earlier.

Of course this could vary with league differences.

In one dynasty league I'm in (Zealots format) in which I have the 1.01 pick, I've suprisingly receive ZERO offers for it.

I have a lot of love for Bradshaw, took a flyer on him during my start up dynasty last year. My fear is that the NYG backfield will be a 2 or 3 headed RBBC monster for next few years. I do think Bradshaw should be on the plus side of a 50/50 split, after watching the Giant playoff games. I think I would move my 1.7 and Bradshaw for the 1.3, not sure about the 1.4, depending on the draft.

Surprised that your offer was turned down, this was listed on another post in regards to Graham!

I will say this, i landed alot of these guys recently in deals.

But the one the HARDEST to trade for is A.BRADSHAW.

Some people asked me for a mid/late 1st in some leagues, which maybe close to his value seeing as he may be as good as of an option than the later tier of rookie rb's.

Been landing GRAHAM for high 2nd to mid 2nds with something threw in.

Fargas people been holdin onto from what it seems to see where he lands, but now alot view him as a starter, i havent tried to trade for him yet since he signed.

Jamal Lewis, I hadnt attempted to offer a deal for yet.

Bradshaw certainly boosted his value in the last few weeks of the season/playoffs. He's definitely got talent, but I think he's a bit hyped up here, and also looks to be stuck in an RBBC for the near future...that's actually my plan - to use his strong finish to help me move up and grab what looks to be a future stud in Mendenhall or Stewart, but this will be dependent upon how much the owner of the pick has bought into the hype.

I'd be very happy with the 1.5 pick because I think Rice is going to make a solid pro...especially if he manages to land in an up and coming offense like Houston. However, depending on where he ends up, he's got a shot at vaulting himself into the top 4 if Jones doesn't go to a great situation.

I think the mid to mid/late picks are definately a buy/hold this year. I have been able in the past to add players in this area that helped my team. It takes a lot of scouting and hard work in order to be lucky enough to draft a Frank Gore, Jay Cutler, or Roy Williams with the middle picks. The value is there. You just have to be able to exploit the value.

in MOX HP6 I traded Ernest Graham, 2.10, and 2.14 for 1.9. Yes thats a little more than I wanted to pay, but that is how deals get done. Now I just have to parlay my risk into profit.

I say buy up picks 1.6 to 1.10 if you have confidence in your drafting skills.

Evans is a bit of a wildcard, very up and down but if the Bill's get it together he has the talent of a low WR#1 or high WR#2.

After the combine results I'm liking the 1.7 and middle picks more than before the combine, but I hate to put so much weight on the combine vs actual on field ability.

I can see Forte rising up the charts as this goes on, at this point I would love the options of Rice, Smith, or Forte at 1.7.

What type of WR, QB, or TE could be required w/ 1.05... I have a couple of those.

After the top 3 Picks... I'm just not interested in anyone else; their chances of still being in the league after 3 too 4 yrs isn't good. I know the RB that people would be willing to trade you for that Pick would be on their last legs...

however, you might be able too prior away a top 15 or 20 Dynasty WR thats in his mid too late 20s or a top 10 QB or a top 5 TE.
