You think Mike Bell will be on the WW in most leagues by week 5?

With all the Mike Bell talk, I predict he will be on most league waiver wires by week 5.

Probably. Then again I could see someone hanging onto him all season in the hopes he becomes THE back in Denver, which might not be a bad move if you have the room for him.

 
If Cobbs doesn't make the 53 man roster, wouldn't Denver keep 3 tailbacks meaning Mike Bell is assured a roster spot going into the season? Or is the concensus that Denver will trade for another RB or sign a FA by week 5 making Mike Bell expendable? I am surprised that the vote is 15 yes and 5 no. I think the #3 RB in Denver is worth a roster spot in most league formats.

I think Mike will be eagerly scooped up in many drafts - then dropped, then picked up, then dropped again ad nauseam. If Shanaham annoints him starter for week one, he may stick. It is going to RBBC all the way anyway

 
Mike Bell is reminding me of Quintin Griffin from a few years ago. Huge hype, lofty FF draft status, high potential to flame out in 3-4 weeks.

I saw an interview on local TV and Shanarat said he just wanted to see what Bell could do with the first team. He sounded like the competition was still wide open and wants to give everyone an equal opportunity.

 
I was at the Broncos training camp yesterday when he carried a lot in the afternoon practice.

I thought he looked good, but not great. He is certainly not the second coming of TD or anything like that.

Here is the thing that I think folks should find the most interesting: the Denver O-Line was blowing open some huge holes. Some of these holes were so big they would make anyone look like a stud RB.

I think we are safe in still assuming RBBC again this year. The only difference to two weeks ago is it might be a three-headed beast instead of two. Either way, this unit is going to pick up a ton of yards on the ground this year. The other good news for Broncos fans is that with a RBBC that will grind out good yardage, the roll out and bootlegs are going to be extremely effective this year. Jake had his best plays of the session on those type of plays.

I'll close with this - the Broncos already look VERY solid on offense. I think they look improved over last year, especially because some of the young receivers (and Scheffler at TE, too) are really solidifying and giving the Broncos depth where there was none last year.

Could be a big, big year for this team.

From what I saw yesterday, there is NO WAY Cobbs is going to make this team. He half-as*ed it on several plays and had the RB coach tearing him a new one several times. He looked lazy and disrespectful on the field. Certainly did not look like someone fighting to make it onto a pro team.
 
In my 12 team keep 10, salary cap league, he was just thrown out for bidding. He is currently at $2.5 million...one million more than Tatum Bell went for!

 
And when it happens, every fantasy site that we subscribe to will be telling us how they had advised us in week 3 that they saw it coming and had warned everyone.

It is very disappointing to read all the websites and pundits out there saying that Mike Bell's move up the depth chart is really no surprise considering how they all reported how well he was doing. I don't recall a single source saying "Mike Bell is going to win the starting job".

Most of these sites did say that Bell was playing well in camp but then would quickly refocus on the Dayne and Tatum battle as if Mike Bell was a nice story to keep an eye on but that the real battle was between Dayne and Tatum.

I would be very interested to see where some pundit predicted that Mike Bell would move up to #1, even temporarily.

And by the way, if you've been reading my posts lately, the rising of the sun this morning should not have come as any surprise... I have been saying this would happen for a while now.

By the start of the season, Shanny will have changed his mind 3 times. He's trying to fire up Tatum...you know, the other BELL.

Yeah, but did you predict it would rise in the eastern sky? I was way ahead of you on that one.
 
I am curious if DET has done much to improve their rushing DEF? Last year they were in the bottom third of the league and this preseason matchup may only help Mike Bell.

Are people getting a little too excited about Bell for an August 7 training camp move? Of course. And in some leagues, where drafting has just begun, he's going to go much too high.

But for those already deep in drafts he's not a bad value at this point. Given his competition, you have to at least consider the possibility that he's going to end up seeing significant carries in a RB-friendly offense.

And if you're at the point in your draft where your alternatives are Billy Volek, Duce Staley, Travis Henry, and the Falcons WRs he's a calculated risk worth taking.

 
Here's the thing... Dayne and Bell are both NFL veterans. Dayne is trying to shake the 1st round bust label and Bell is trying to change the minds of his coaching staff that he is no better than a COP back.

With that much motivation already, why does MBell moving to the first team have to be a "motivational ploy"? Shouldn't these guys be motivated already? Being the first string guy in Denver has gotten Portis, Droughns and Anderson paid the last few years. What more do they need?

 
One last thing... From all the TC reports I've been reading, 1st/2nd/3rd team O don't play exclusively against 1st/2nd/3rd team D. They rotate. That means 3rd team O was getting time against 1st & 2nd team D. So MBell wasn't looking good exclusively against 3rd team.

I think this promotion was merit based, not motivation based.

Mike Bell is really just a guy who is sitting atop the Bronco's depth chart at the moment with two experienced RB right behind him in a race that just started. Take it for what its worth. Stop trying to belittle him or what he's acomplished and just stay informed so YOU can make a rational decision based on sound experience and knowledgs.

Bell could emerge to be the next Terrell Davis. Right now no one knows for sure. By the time I become well informed or the situation settles, all 3-4 guys I'm looking at will be gone. I have a choice between future HOF Bell, Chris Brown, Chris Perry, a tier 5 wr or a kicker with 12 picks before my next selection. My draft timing this year just sucks. :cry:

If Mike Bell is the #1 now, then I think the only reasonable conclusion from this development is that the entire DEN RB core is a mediocre unit. This means RBBC and/or a trade for another RB. I believe RBBC is the most likely outcome, but have no idea if M.Bell will get a majority of carries. I do seriously doubt that Dayne will win the job. He's not a #1 caliber NFL RB and he's proved it time and time again. He's not really a good COP or short yardage guy either. I am avoiding Dayne in all of my drafts.

No, but people know the power of the Denver running game. Whoever starts there can be a HUGE value.If you don't like the threads, stay away from them. It's pretty easy, actually.
 
No because Dayne isnt going to win the job back. Mike Bell will end up number 1 or number 2 on the depth chart barring an injury or Denver trade. So he wont be on the waiver wire.

Hell, I forgot all about that. Yes, I drafted him late in our initial draft, but later dropped him for someone else. I don't think he would have ever started for my team.
