Mike Goodson RB/WR ? (1 Viewer)

Carolina's Goodson is listed as a RB only in most leagues.. but he got 8 targets last week from Clauson for 4 receptions / 47 yards against Cincy. I know Carolina already has a full blown RBBC but I see this guy improving along with Clauson as the season progresses. Carolina really doesn't have many other options at WR. I play in an rtsports league.. any chance this guy gets a WR designation if Carolina keeps using him as a receiver? He could be a serviceable bye-week fillin in deeper ppr leagues if he continues to get looks.

He lines up in the backfield so he's a running back. Larry Centers caught 100 balls a year and almost never got carries but he was most definitely a fullback and not a receiver.

He only lines up as a Rb and catches ball out of the backfield. So I don't see any reason why they would change his designation.

He's a RB. That won't change. He will go into the slot, but that is usually from out of the backfield. He or Sutton may be #2RB next year if DWill isn't signed to an extension.

Did they ever make Kevin Faulk a WR on any website?

Carolina only activates three wide receivers for a game and the other two either suck or are rookies, so somebody has to catch passes while three DBs are covering Steve Smith. But to answer your question: no, he will not be designated a WR. He is a RB and still the second best receiver on the team. He will be the Panthers #2 RB eventually.

That's a good question. My guess would be whichever one of DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart costs the least for Panthers ownership.

Expect it to be Stewart. He still has time left on his rookie deal.

Anyone picking him up as an injury replacement? Carolina will be passing a lot against the Saints and Goodson could be a "good" sneaky play this week.

I am contemplating picking him up instead of Darby. My league is PPR and return yardage and Goodson is averaging 11-12 ppg.

What I like about this guy is that he is also the KR I think and in kick return leagues like Zealots he puts up a pretty decent score. Right now he is averaging almost 7 points a game for me. That's not too shabby if I ever had to put him in for some reason. Now I have guys like ADP, S.Jax, P.Thomas, Foster and Best ahead of him so I won't need to, but if you're thinner at RB, I could see someone using him, especially on a big bye week.

If you are in a return league and this guy is not rostered, what are you waiting on?I have STARTED him as my flex the past 2 weeks in my PPR, return yardage league...where he is currently around RB25.

I am going to drop Darby and pick up Goodson as my Steven Jackson insurance this week. Does that sound like a good idea?

Whos the guy to own as Carolinas #3 sutton or goodson?
Don't give up on Sutton yet, but clearly the coaching staff likes what they see from Goodson this season. He's taken a step forward. I think we'll see Goodson come in a lot when Carolina is in the no huddle (if we ever are) and when we're down by a significant amount. I wish Jeff Davidson would find more creative ways of getting Goodson the ball, because he, like Reggie Bush or Dexter McCluster, is a real problem for defenses when he gets in space.

Last year I would have said Sutton, this year it looks like Goodson, mostly because Sutton had been nursing an injury. Wouldn't surprise me to see an RB traded to a RB short team, but with Fox being in a lame duck season, who knows what's going to happen. Several boards are hoping that Steve Smith and DeAngelo get traded before the deadline and they expect to get 1st or 2nd rounders out of them. I keep trying to talk them down to probably 3rd rounders, but they insist that DW and Smith can get the picks. I keep telling them that NFL does not equal fantasy football.
