No kidding. Seems sure Addai will be ruled out but no word for days.

Anyone else in a league that will let you IR an out or doubtful player and open a roster spot?

Wow this is gonna throw a wrench in the plans of those who own one without the other for sure. If you don't have another option you can't really play on the upside of the Indy RB over other options during this tough bye week.

If Donald Brown was looking doubtful for this week, I'd have to believe they would have made a move for some extra depth by now.

is there any news here, or is this just speculation and waiting for news?
About the only thing that can be safely assumed at this time is Addai isn't likely to play this week. Brown is expected back but we'll find out more tomorrow when the Colts return to practice.

Geez, can we get some sort of report out of INDY?? I've got Donald Brown, and I'd love to roll with him knowing he'll get the majority of the work against Houston..but haven't heard a thing this week other than Addai most likely being out. Frustrating...

Donald Brown (hamstring) will be limited in practice on Thursday, provided he practices at all. "Donald is questionable," head coach Jim Caldwell tells the Indianapolis Star. "If he does, it will be limited work." The Colts host the Texans on Monday night.

Our View: Brown hasn't played since Week 3, and at this point, it doesn't sound like the Colts are gearing up to give him a big role in Week 8. For the moment, it looks like Mike Hart will need to step up.

So much for the theory that the Colts were really hoping to see what they have in Brown with Addai likely being out. Doesn't sound like they're pressing to put him in there.

Somebody noted in the Brown thread that all the hammy guys (Brown, Garcon and Wayne) missed today, so tomorrow may be more telling.

Exactly. If Switz is right and they aren't pressing to get Brown in there, then they aren't pressing to get half of their dwindling receiving corps either. Maybe they're being extra careful with these guys because they can't afford to lose anyone else and they're playing Houston this weekend.

Thursday's injury report:

Sitting out Thursday’s practice were running back Joseph Addai (shoulder), running back Donald Brown (hamstring), wide receiver Austin Collie (thumb), linebacker Kavell Conner (foot), wide receiver Pierre Garcon (hamstring), defensive tackle Antonio Johnson (knee), cornerback Jacob Lacey (foot), cornerback Jerraud Powers (foot) and safety Bob Sanders (biceps).

Wide receiver Reggie Wayne (hamstring) saw limited practice time Thursday. Middle linebacker Gary Brackett (groin) and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (ankle) fully participated in the workout.

Collie, Conner, Johnson and Sanders have been ruled out of Monday night’s game with Houston.

Geez, will these Colts injuries ever end?

"Adam_Schefter

Neither Joseph Addai nor Donald Brown practiced today for Colts. Addai not likely to play Monday night, Brown has a real chance to play. "

My take...Monday night, Hart and Brown both look like a risky play unless you have both

So who's getting all the reps today and developing rapport with Peyton? B.White. watch out.

Off the subject of this thread, but I'm guessing that since my earlier post (two above yours) said Gonzalez fully participated in Thursday's workout, Gonzalez is re-developing a fair amount of chemistry with Manning, probably more than B.White.

I am going to roll with Hart on Monday. Need a bye week filler. It looks like Brown will get limited snaps, if any.

good point. hijack over. :lmao:
On the other hand, Manning may be hooking up with White a fair amount too, considering Garcon missed Thursday's practice and Wayne was limited.I'd still favor Gonzalez, if he's truly healthy. The way the Colts are dropping right and left, they might be calling you and me to catch Manning's passes Monday night.

Come on, switz. You honestly believe the Colts don't want to find out if they made the right decision to draft Brown in the first round last year? I think they would love for him to be healthy and step in now that Addai is out. But if he's not healthy or too brittle or too soft or whatever, then the decision could be made for them. But with Schefter saying Brown has a real chance to play and all the other hamstring players sitting out perhaps this was a team-wide decision of some kind. I will say, though, that Brown has done little to inspire confidence and the fact he isn't all the way back from his injury despite having the bye week off doesn't help his cause any.

lol. This does not seem like an enlightened statement.

New player notes Thu, Oct 28

Hart could start at running back this week against Houston with Joseph Addai not expected to practice Thursday and with Donald Brown still questionable with a hamstring injury, the Indianapolis Star reports. "It's kind of a day-to-day situation. If he doesn't go, obviously Mike Hart has to be the guy to step it up a little bit, and Javarris James will have to carry a few duties as well," head coach Jim Caldwell said.

Recommendation: The Colts still have two more full practice days since they play Monday, so the outlook for Addai and Brown could change, but right now it looks like Hart will be the starter and get the bulk of touches.

Screw it. I'm sticking MH in lineups where he would be an improvement over my current starter . . . and that includes Donald Brown.

Sarcasm meter down? I just got a kick out of everyone saying Brown would get extensive work with Addai out, and the "Our View" being "doesn't sound like the Colts are gearing up to give him a big role in week 8." You don't find that humorous at all?

Really?

Brown (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice on Friday, 1070 am Indianapolis reports. It's the first time he's practiced since Oct. 14. Brown said before practice he expects to play this week if he doesn't have a setback. Check to see if he practices on Saturday, but it looks like he'll split time at running back with Mike Hart with Joseph Addai unlikely to play.

The Indianapolis Colts' backfield appears to be in ever-changing shift mode.

One day after he missed practice, running back Donald Brown sounds confident he will be involved in today's workout and will play Monday night against Houston at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The backup to injured starter Joseph Addai has missed the last three games with a right hamstring injury. Addai is unlikely to play with a shoulder injury, which makes Brown's return a key development.

"I feel good today," Brown said. "We'll just evaluate it one day at a time, but if the game was today, I'd play."

Hey guys, I just wanted to drop in here and let you know that if, after all of this, Addai ends up playing, me and the guys from the Donald Brown thread are going to get drunk and burn #### down, and you're totally invited.
