Mike Thomas - Jax (1 Viewer)

Mike Thomas has officially assumed the #1 WR role on the Jags, and Sims-Walker's officially bumped. I know that is not saying all that much, but this is getting no pub and deserves a mention at least. It is clear that MJD is not going to have any room to run, so this team is going to have to throw to win. Looking a little more, it started late early as last year, where he got 20 targets over the last three weeks (and that was with Torry Holt still in town). All he needed was goal line looks this year. Now he has those, getting just as many (1 less) than MSW this year. He has been very consistently targeted the whole season averaging nearly 7 per game, and outpacing MSW by 5 so far this year with total of 41-36. If not for MSW week two 12 target game, it would not even be close. He has led the team in receiving yards for three of the six weeks in 2010 so far. I have to assume that still getting the red zone targets, he will eventually find the end zone a few times. The draw back is of course QB play, with Garrard looking like a deer in headlights (and being injured). It doesn't get any better with Trent Edwards. But as we know, you can still post respectable stats with a sub par QB. His size is not ideal for a #1, but the link below shows you a couple of draftguys.com hacks :P breaking him down a bit.

It also doesn't hurt that they finish the season with Indy, Washington, Houston (If you have week 17 championship). That's a pretty cake passing schedule. By then, the Jags should be firmly out of it and building for next year. He is only in his second year, so will remain very involved to build chemistry and experience. I can only see things getting better for Mike. Getting it out there now, for those that like to act before the blow up on the field. If not, throw him on your radar and act once (if) he hits. :lmao:

Guy is putting up solid numbers week in and week out. You could do much worse than him -- I think you can expect 4-8 catches a week for about 50-90 yds. Great #3 with some upside. In dynasty I love this guy.

I just picked him up today in case Steve Smith (CAR) can't go this weekend - unfortunately if Smith plays than its back to the WW for Mr Thomas.

Agree here. In my league he's averaged 10-11.5 pts the past three weeks. Excellent numbers for my flex spot each week. And I love the targets.

I thought he was sleeper three months ago. Why would he be a sleeper now since he's actually producing?

He's a sleeper now because he is probably on the WW of most leagues (27% owned in CBS, 11% Espn, etc, etc) and since it hasn't translated to huge production yet ... at least TD wise that is, most of the board members league mates probably have not noticed yet.

....aaaaand he has Todd Bouman throwing him the ball, for the first time since 2005.
This has not been decided officially, and it's likely only one week anyway. If this was a pick up Mike Thomas for Week 7 post, you would be right to be concerned. Either way, the QB situation is not ideal, which is why I was sure to mention it above. And concussions are tricky things, but my guess is that Garrard will not be out long. How effective he is upon return is another story?!? :lmao:

I don't have stats on it, but from watching MNF, it seemed like Thomas was even more involved when Edwards was QB (as opposed to Garrard).

In dynasty where does this guy rank? I've been thinking about dropping mccluster and picking him up for weeks but just can't pull the trigger

The rules of the league concerning PPR and returns would make a big difference here.
I would definitely take Thomas over McCluster, unless return yardage counted - then it's closer.
Yea its a non ppr return yardage league, that's why the decision is killing me. Although Thomas does return punts, he's no mccluster in that aspect of his game

I've had Mike Thomas on my bench for most of the season, but he is a nice player to have available in the event of an injury or a bye week situation. He is almost guaranteed 10-14 points per game.
