Mike Thomas WR JAX (1 Viewer)

I drafted Mike Thomas as a #2 WR. Yeah I took the RBs early and there wasnt much left, but I thought it was a good shot. I have been tearing my hair out with the this guy ever since. FBG allways had him ranked fairly decently for a PPR league so I kept holding out hope. Shoot Dodds still has Thomas ranked at #22 for week 8 (PPR scoring). Dave its time to let him go just like I did!!

I just dont buy into Thomas anymore. Yes Thomas had a lot of targets early on, but now Gabbert just seems to be going Jason Hill's way. I dont want any part of JAX.

Am I over reacting? I thought I gave Thomas enough time.

He would be ok if Garrard was still qb there. Marcedes Lewis has gone down too without Garrard behind center. Have to give Gabbert time like a lot of rookie qb's. But this year is looking grim for all the Jag's receivers.

I targeted him in every league this year, but he ended up going higher than I expected in all of them. Can't say I'm too disappointed now.

Marcedes Lewis' problem is more than losing Garrard. He is dropping perfectly good passes. He dropped one for a TD last night.

Just finished listening to the Audible. Bloom gave Thomas the "you're gone"

Garrard is/was mediocre, at best. As evidence, I cite the fact that he is still unsigned.

Garrard's situation is somewhat bizarre with the injury, but I'd argue he was an above average QB and even if he was merely mediocre that would be a huge upgrade over what has been the worst QB play in the league. I think Thomas would have been a solid WR3 w/ Garrard, w/o he is very droppable at this point. Why hold on to someone with no upside and an unstable floor?

You need to investigate more. He had offers, but he turned them down, and opted to have back surgery instead this year.

I already did. How about the quotes of "I don't know if I want to keep playing football"

He was prerty good in ppr scoring to start the season with all the targets he was getting and I was rolling him out as my #3. In deep leagues I don't know if he's droppable yet but understand wanting to. Could be worth a spot start here and there with the right matchup. But with that said you ain't gonna rely on him so maybe a high upside roster stash is the better play.

the issue that comes up is that people equate NFL with fantasy. Most might consider DG as a decent FF player, but few NFL GMs will be anxious to pony up for a healthy Garrard.

why did he have 1 target last game? prior to that he had 53 targets and 27 catches over 6 games. very employable in ppr leagues with flexes.

Ive read where Sims-Walker started over him last week and Thomas was only on the field for 30 snaps against Indy last week. Not sure if that's a trend, but it's something to be aware of.

Gabbert's typical bit of never looking past his first option was in full effect staring down the Ravens convoy. That first choice was Hill for the most part. Obviously, they run the ball a lot and so if your guy is not the first option, it's going to be a long game. Never was that flaw more demonstrative than the pass that Marcedes Lewis dropped in the end zone while being pretty well covered...MJD was wide open in the flat with a clear path to the end zone. The kid just doesn't have the vision and patience yet.And yeah, MSW is certainly not going to help his cause at all.

I found this:

Mike Thomas played a season-low 30 offensive snaps in Week 7 while adding punt return duties to his plate.

Thomas took over on punts for rookie Cecil Shorts, who had been thoroughly ineffective. While Thomas added a special teams spark with 37 yards on six returns including a 28-yarder, his offensive role was smaller than it's been all season. He was used almost strictly as a slot receiver, with Mike Sims-Walker (58 snaps) and Jason Hill (44 snaps) doing the heavylifting out wide.

Thomas started, but just didn't play a full complement of snaps as they focused on the run game anyways. With the rookie QB at the helm, people should have known his production would suffer a bit. It seems the staff thinks field position is more important so they have him returning punts and playing conservatively on offense

I was going to but since he caused my opponent in a different league to fail to beat me on MNF I have a soft spot and am going to delay his execution..............well at least for a week :D

I tried to watch MNF to see how Thomas was doing....but I kept falling asleep. That game was terrible. Looking at the stats, Gabbert only threw for 92 yards. Guess its hard to expect Thomas to have much then.Houston would normally be a good chance to start Thomas, but I just cant bring myself to do it. I cut Thomas loose in the 2 leagues I had him in and no one picked him up.
