Mike Vick...I'm gonna miss him. (1 Viewer)

Forget all the terrible, illegal, and atrocious things Vick has done. Fact is, he was my favorite player to watch in the NFL. You never knew when he was going to turn a sack into a 30 yard scamper, similar to when I used to watch Barry Sanders. He was and still is the most exciting player to ever take the field, and I am going to miss watching him play on Sundays. I can't believe it all ended this way and so abruptly...

One of the most gifted athletes I've ever seen. But, he was mentally so overmatched, I found his inability to play consistently more frustrating than it was rewarding.

Yeah, Barry was a lot more fun to watch. I was crushed when he retired. Thanksgiving football has never been the same since, no matter how early NFLN starts advertising the game.

good athlete..but watching him have mental breakdowns and problems reading defenses or even knowing where his own guys were on the field, was something like watching Eddie Van Halen giving up the guitar to take on a bodybuilding career..:goodposting:Vick knew how to do one thing, and one thing only:run.thats it.period.probably would have been a great RB, a Bo Jackson type...

Vick was truly an enigma, never really a true solid QB but no doubt an exciting player to watch.

I think Vick will be remembered something like Dwight Gooden is now...

So uniquely special yet never really took it to the level everyone thought he could because of some stupid life choices...

That is a perfect analogy...although Vicks choices were a little stupider and much more easily avoided...plus Dwight Gooden never gave anyone herpes...that I know of.

Bo Jackson? :goodposting: Are you even serious with that? I really hope not.

Dwight Gooden is an excellent comparison. Unbelievable talent that never really reached its full potential, and then marred by some tragic decisions. Yet, people still support him because of the great things he did accomplish while he was on the field.

I still think Vick will be back in the leage some day, but I'd bet he ends up much like his brother did and flames out without anyone really noticing.

And, Dwight wasn't a thuggish ingrate, like Vick is. Dwight was an insecure, sensitive, apologetic, lost soul. Vick, by contrast, is the bad seed, falling not too far from the tree that dropped brotherly seed that was equally ill-equipped to navigate simple decisions or integrate the most rudimentary ethical platform from which one draws when making difficult decisions.

My favorite player to watch to in the NFL. Its crazy to know we wont get to see anymore highlights from him. I doubt we ever see a talent like him again at qb.

I am also wondering when he do gets a 2nd chance...will he be a rb/wr/qb.

There's one team known for going out on a limb, actually 2 of them but i can see one of them taking a chance on him.

And thats the DALLAS COWBOYS, why? If ROMO doesnt get it done, and its alot of pressure on him now says (contract/expectations) i can see JJ bringing him in for one to MAKE MONEY OFF OF HIM, and 2 to have a very unpredictable offense. VICK TO and MCFADDEN (lol) MBIII would be interesting.

No way JJ does this. I'll turn in my season tickets (and I wouldn't be the only one) if that happened. He'd be turning off a good chunk of the fan base, and anyone who would be supporting Vick and entering into the fan base...mmm, I don't think they're the kind of supporting fans Jerry's looking for.

I'd say the Raiders are the most likely fit.

I won't even notice his absence, other than the lack of three Vick-related commercials every break during an NFL game. This guy was the most over-hyped, under-talented, contrived "star" player ever. I'll never forget when Sean Salisbury called him "the greatest athlete in THE WORLD. PERIOD!" Vick was the worst possible hybrid of all that's wrong with (some) pro football players: he was both the pampered athlete who could do no wrong as long as he won games for his organization (VTech then the Falcons), while also being the thug who couldn't leave the 'hood ways behind him.

Won't miss him.

Over-hyped, maybe.but..under-talented?? It was genious how they "contrived" his 1K yard rushing season.

Good riddance, bad rubbish.

I'm not talking about fantasy stats. How much success did the Falcons have as a result of his rushing prowess? At some point, a QB is expected to throw the ball with some degree of success. In that regard, Vick was under-talented, IMO.

Well he was the Falcons starting QB when the team came within a game of the Superbowl. :)

 His ability to win football games is not overrated. The guy was a great athlete. Never forget 27-7 in Lambeau.

A lot of bad quarterbacks come within a game of going to the Superbowl.

Somebody remind me of his stats for that game. They were pretty abysmal IIRC. It was the ATL defense getting alot of turnovers that won that game. Yes he was the starting QB going into Lambeau and winning but as for his contribution to the win he was way down on the list.13/25 117 yds passing, 64 yds rushing 1 TD 78.3 rating5 GB turnovers and no Green, Driver or Glenn for the second half.

Yeah, that 14-1 record in his rookie year was awful. Followed that up the next year with a Superbowl win (youngest QB to do so). What a bad QB.

How many of them rushed for 100 yards in the divisional round to get their team there?

None. And...?I forget, can you please look up his stat line for the following week against the Eagles?

Not one of Vick's better days, though the Eagles were a much better team overall.

Don't worry everyone, he'll be back for the 09' season. :)

Can't wait to see him back on the field. One of the most amazing athletes that has ever graced this planet.

So, you're watching the Arena League these days? 'Cuz, that's the only field he'll be playing on, if he ever plays again.Hate to disappoint fans of a guy who tortured and killed dogs for his own sadistic pleasure, but Vick ain't playing a single down in the NFL ever again.(Actually, to be honest, I'm happy if that's a disappointment to you people.)

Pretty much the same stats from the GB game yet people like to say he "led the Falcons to a historic victory" in Lambeau. If GB didn't turn the ball over 5 times Vick's poor performance would've been held up as the reason they lost. Falcons' D won that game but Vick fans like to add that to his resume.

Gooden, for a few years, achieved greatness as a pitcher, something that has always eluded Vick as a QB.

 and my oversight.Just speaking as a human being--not a football fan--I'm much happier seeing him go behind bars than I would be seeing him run with the football again. I've seen him run before. Been there, done that. Don't want to see any more, especially from him.
