Mike Wallace, Week 13 (1 Viewer)

LAbronco

Baltimore has allowed only 2 WR TD's this year(Can that be right--it's what i read on twitter from one of the expert sites).

Also, Big Ben has broken his foot. This has to hinder his ability with maneuverability in the pocket, footwork, and planting his foot which affects the strength of his passes.

Also, wind is forecasted for that game.

Are there enough adverse variables here to sit Wallace and replace him with a guy like Woodhead or Hartline ?

Lloyd had 2 TDs vs them, Johnson had 1 & Evans had 3 in one game vs them, Roddy White abused them for 2, St Pierre even threw one to Gettis,

Ravens boast the 7th best pass defense thus far and have surrendered 13 pass td's.

If Roethlisberger plays, start Wallace over Woodhead and Hartline.
I'm not convinced Leftwich is a terrible blow to Wallace, either. To Ward, Miller, etc., it's a big dropoff. But Leftwich can throw the deep ball nearly as well as Ben, and obviously that's where most of Wallace's production has come from this year.

I am more concerned with a hobbled Ben that can't buy time for Wallace because he can't plant that right foot or scramble as effectively. If he is off his game do we just see dump offs and running plays from teh Steelers? If we actually knew Letwich was going to start we could have more clarity. I am debating going with other long ball deep threats instead of Wallace like Jacoby Ford or Danario Alexander this week....

at this point of the season, start your studs. nothing is more expensive than regret, dance with the one who brung ya, etc

I've got Jacoby and Danario too, and just can't decide. Sometimes the sneaky play pays off in a must win, sometimes not.

Unless LeBeau and Co. can pull off a miracle in this one between his defense and the special teams, I don't see how Pitt avoids a loss in this one. At first glance I don't see too many productive fantasy numbers coming from either side of the ball, but if we look at what Pitts is dealing with this week, perhaps it adds up to a big game for Baltimore?

Pittsburgh Offense

1) they have a make shift oline who could do nothing vs. Buffalo last week and Big Ben ran for his life;

2) now Big Ben has a significant foot injury preventing him from scrambling or buying time for Wallace to get deep;

3) they play the game in Baltimore vs. a pretty good D that will be pumped for the division matchup.

Be worried about the 20 mph winds in below freezing weather, not about Ben's foot injury.

Wallace is benchable, but not for the options you listed.

So what's Baltimore's offense going to do that's so special against the Steeler D? I'm not seeing it being some kind of miracle if Pitt wins this game. And I'm pretty sure they use Wallace in other ways than just deep balls now. WR screens, crossing routes, etc. I see them now using him similarly to how Philly uses D Jackson.Ben may have one of his better games of the season. We know he's a drama queen, doesn't mind the media playing up the foot issue, and will go out and play well.And I'm pretty sure the Pitt D will be pumped for this division matchup as well. Vengeance on the loss earlier this year.

yes i do.

Wallace has too many negatives for me to start...gimpy OL, gimpy QB, bad matchup , and 20mph

i'm in a ppr, so i'll take the conservative route and go with Hartline instead since Marshall is out...he's been avg'g 15 pts a game without Marshall

seeing wallace take that short pass against oakland and turn on the afterburners splitting the defense for a 50+ yd score, i'm leaving him in, 20mph wind or not

So should we downgrade all WRs for this game due to the wind? Trying to decide if it want to start Hines Ward or Woodhead. Ward has been pretty u predictable the last few weeks.

Agreed to many negatives - started Jacoby Ford over Wallace....
