Mike Williams... still a fatty (1 Viewer)

Mike Williams' conditioning level is reportedly still an issue.

Williams hasn't been bad in non-contact OTA work, but he's still hovering in the 240-250 pound range and doesn't look like a great bet to make the Titans unless they keep seven receivers. The four-week layoff before training camp could work against Williams due to his apparent lack of self discipline.

Seriously, this guy is being handed chance after chance... and he keeps blowing it because he FAT.

Hey, I was a tubby when I was a kid... all the way up till my mid 20's; but I did something about... I ended up dropping about 20 pds from 178 too 158. W/ no help of any kind from a NFL Trainer. Dude makes me sick. Seriously, wake up... this is your job and your blowing it because u eat too much.

that ain't no damn receiver! that's a damn tight end!

if he wants to be a true receiver, he needs to lose at least 15-25 pounds!

If you offered 100 fat people the oopportunity to make his money if they lost 50 pounds, I think 90 of them would do it. Of the remaining 10, nine would have some hormonal imbalance that prevents them from losing the weight and the other one is Mike Williams.

The coach who recruited him out of high school cut him on favor of Tim Dwight.

This is why you take springtime fluff pieces with a massive grain of salt.

His best chance for success in sport is beating that Japanese guy in Coney Island on July 4th.

how tall are you 5'6"?

Remember how freaking good he was at USC - or hyped. Whatever it was, he had it. They screwed the kid when he stupid hired an agent and couldn't go back to school. I just don't get it. How can you not lose 20 pounds with all these resources? Maybe he has a thyroid condition?

Receiver Mike Williams, still working to build his conditioning and endurance after losing 30 pounds this off-season, said he would return from vacation on July 7 to continue his work at the Titans’ facility.

(July 7th is early, on his own time)

GETTING READY: Mike Williams continues to try and work his way into the mix at wide receiver. Williams said he sees himself working into better shape as the offseason work has progressed.

“I’m a lot farther along as far as conditioning. I feel it. I see it on the tape,” said Williams, who lost more than 30 pounds during the offseason. “I’m more explosive and out of the cuts and the separating and the things that weren’t there at the beginning of OTAs where coach Dinger was talking about you’ve got to be able to go more than two plays and things like that.”

He is confident he can move up the depth chart despite running with the third group on offense during OTAs.

“They say they don’t have a depth chart, but they start every group with the same guys. I’m not discouraged with that,” Williams said. “Those guys do what they do, but I know what I’m going to be able to do, and when it’s time to go, I really think I’ll blow this thing wide open and there won’t be a question.”

Williams is also coming off a broken ankle. Mike Williams lost weight after ballooning to over 270 pounds last season, but no one knows if he will make the team

***********

This thread is just not right. Ya knock a guy that has had a terrible work ethic in the past, for losing 30 pounds?

He's staying late, coming early. He was there on his own time this winter and even(above) coming in on his own free time in July.

Fisher has warned him about his weight and been impressed.

For you to see "240" and turn it into a negative isn't fair or reasonable

He's working hard and for a change the guy deserves credit for that.

He deserves his due, now. He might get cut, he might not make the team but for once, it's not going to be due to lack of effort.

Just barely

Wow. What a slap in the face to every hard working individual who is barely making enough to keep a roof over their head.
Really?
My post was a tad over-dramatic. However, when you can't show up and do what your asked to get paid big bucks to play a game for a living there is a major problem. These guys can play a game for 5 years and make more money than 90% of the US population will in a lifetime. It is a joke to me when a skill position player is battling conditioning issues. He should call Charles Rogers to see how that strategy is working out.
