Minnesota Vikings vs Green Bay PackersSaturday 5th, 2013Line: Green Bay -8What say you?
It's tough to see GB losing this one at home and to the Vikings again. I know ADP is superhuman, but Ponder simply cannot have two good games in a row. It defies all logic.Green Bay 31Vikings 17

I am looking forward to the game. I don't see Ponder having another game like he did last week.

It was his best game of his career and I don't think he has back 2 back weeks of career games.

Some Stats to look at:

Out of 27 games w/ Ponder behind center:

12 - how many times Ponder hasn't thrown at least 1 INT

2 - 3 TD passes in 1 game (previous he also threw 2 INTs)

11 - 200+ yard passing games

5 - 30+ point games

1.24:1 - The ratio of TD:INT

Green Bay w/ Rodgers

31 - Average Points in Playoff Games

51, 37 - Points scored by Arizona and New York in GB playoff losses

6 - games out of 78 where Packers have lost by more than 1 possession (do the vikings score to fast this time if its a close game?)

1 - games this season the Packers lost where the opponent didn't score at least 30+ points (@ Seattle week 3)

34-9 - home field w/l with Rodgers under center

30, 37 - Home loss points scored by opponents since 2011

23,38,31,24,35,27,27 - Home loss points scored by opponents 2008-2010

4 - number of ints by Minnesota in 10 games against Rodgers

10 - Total touchdowns by AP in 12 games against the Packers (week 17 was the only 2 TD game)

Anyone have a weather report? IMO the worse the weather, the better the Vikings chances.
Pretty "balmy" for Green Bay in January so weather shouldn't be a factor. Plus the field is heated so no "Frozen Tundra".
High 24° Low 18° Partly Cloudy Chance of snow: 10%Wind: W at 9 mph
As for the game... I love how well Ponder has "managed" the game the last month.. Still.. I am not sold on him and therefore see something like a 30-24 Packer win.

GB will win, want Minn to win. I'd like to see Petterson's season continue but otherwise don't care about the result.

Ponder is too much of a liability for Minn to beat GB a second time in a row. This time the game is in GB, in the playoffs. GB don't lose often in these situations and they are simply the better team.

GB 31, Minn 20

Green Bay 38 - Minnesota 24

Packers will win, unfortunately it will be one and done. They aren't physical enough to compete with rhe 49ers. That's the last matchup they wanted to see in round 2. The Vikings are coming in on a roll though.

Upset of the playoffs!

I'm hoping at least... :)

And no, I am not a Vikings homer.

No Dom Capers defense in the last 2 years has done anything but soil themselves when it counted. As a Packer fan, I'm amazed at how optimistic Pack fans are going into the playoffs. They may or may not beat the Vikings, but I expect another blowout the following week. There's nothing special about this team this year, and there won't be until we find a new D-coordinator (and offensive line).

I'll believe it when I see it. If they make the Super Bowl, color me surprised. This week they get Cobb back and, hopefully, a 100% Woodson. Those are two pieces that were not in place last week.

Its funny that this is subdued compared to the Seahawks/Redskins posts. Anytime you seem to get those Seahawks jokers talking about their team quite a few of them over react and try to proclaim them the greatest team ever and Wilson a hall-famer in his first season.

90% of that is because the Vikings and Packers just played a hell of a game and most of us are still recovering.

Good point.Well, and despite having some crazy fans on both sides here...none of us are as bad as Scientist or Sweeney.I think both fans here are just not sure what to expect.Do we see good Ponder again with AP going off. Will Capers get his head out of his ### and quit that 3 man rush crap. Can GB learn to tackle. It can obviously go either way here with a turnover or two. There is just no real way to call this team or feel all that comfortable for either side. The only thing for Vikings fans is at least this was not expected at the start of the season. Its almost like playing with house money at this point. But you still don't want to ever lose to the Packers.

Not saying he has been great the last 2 years and I have been calling for his head this year for sure...but you have a 2 game sample size of games that really counted (NYG playoff game last year and this past Vikings game).

I can't speak for all Viking fans but most don't have delusions of grandeur.BTW, you might want to put a ABP out for smackdaddies. He seems to have gone missing after the 1st quarter of last Sundays game.

:goodposting: My Father in-law and I have discussed this many times.. He being the Packer backer, me being the Purple Backer. When it comes to these two teams facing each other you can throw away the records... Very rarely is there a blowout by either team. They both bring their "A" game each time they meet up and it comes down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. :football:

QFTPackers vs Vikings is about as good as it gets. We have 2 superbowls every season. Sometimes 3 like this season. :football: I think the Packer fans are being too hard on Capers. It is a matter of perspective. The Packs defense saw huge improvement from Capers in his 1st season. The bar was set so high that everything following it is percieved as a disapointment. I for one would be happy to see them let Capers go as I do not see a more qualified replacement anywhere.Vikings will win in Lambeau. This team is so hungry right now. I do not see GB matching that passion. The Vikings are not satisfied to just make the playoffs. They have worked to hard to get into this position to let is get away from them. They are not satisfied just knocking the Bears out of the post season, they want to knock off the Packers as well.

Woodson has been cleared to play. Should help the Packer run D.

Vikings had a hard time covering the Packers WRs last Sunday. Will have even more of a difficult time this Saturday with Cobb back. Nelson, Jennings, Cobb, Jones and Finley will be tough.

I have a feeling that adding Woodson will spark the defense. He's absolutely fearless and tough as nails. He's exactly what they need to face down the Vikings. Adrian is going to run, but there were plays where a little reckless abandon was needed and veteran savvy was needed last week. He brings those to the table. I hope he can generate something.

Maybe the defense can hold Peterson to -1 yards rushing. The Packers have done that before to another runner.
Sorry but this comment is so ridiculous I think everyone reading it gets a bit dumber for even entertaining the notion. Whoever the Packers did this too before was not Peterson and that defense is not the defense that plays in Green Bay today.Hey anything under 199 yards would be an improvement by the Pack this season.

Jesus, relax. I'm guessing that was a mix of wishful thinking and nostalgia.BTW - the other runniner in question was Barry Sanders. I was at the game. It was a thing of beauty. Chill out dude.

Perfectly calm dood.

I will put it this way, Peterson is more likely to gain 300 yards rushing in this contest on Saturday than he is to run for -1 for the day. Now if you are only talking about one run? That is another story. But I do not think that you were.

I wasn't talking about it at all. Just asking you to lay off a dude who, again, was likely responding based on nostalgia. You're right - there is very little chance AP runs for negative yardage. Happy?

Reggie White coming back? I remember that game, awesome performance by the Pack D.I'm very close to calling ADP the best RB I've ever seen- over Barry. And this Viking O-Line is better than any that Barry ever ran behind, unfortunately.

No worries that he will be rusty?

Honeslty as vikings Fan I love to see a win. But it's tough to beat the same team in back to back matchups. I think it will be another good game, but whom ever can add the most wrinkles that work will win. My worry is if Cobb is back, he might just be that wrinkle.

I see these two teams very close to each other with 11 and 10 wins you should assume so.

Key players COBB and Winfield.... The health of these two might be the x factor for both teams.

SKOL Vikings!

GB is capable of choking home playoff games, the Vikings have even done it. But I never bet against Green Bay at Lambeau. Vikings wont get killed though, it'll be another good game. 28-24.

If the line is GB -8.5, then you are betting against them with that prediction.

No, not really. Not Woodson. Guy was born to play football.

Is this guy for real?
Does it get any realer? If the Packers hold AD to anything less than 199 it will be an improvement, that is just a fact.Certainly more current and realistic than you cheese doodles pining away for the ghost of Reggie White to save your team from AD. But go ahead and have another. :banned: Laugh all you want while you can. There will be nothing but tears after Saturday. :bye:

'Sup Nuff! Who's Da Masta!! I AMMMMMMM.....{Golden Glow}Packers win this one going away. I see a couple turnovers by the Vikings turning this one into a blowout for the Pack31-16 Packers & it's not even that close. Late TD by the Vikings & Packers recover onsides kick to seal it with under 2 minutes left. That spread is simply begging you to take the Vikings...which means bet the other way.One more thing....Peterson held to under 100 for the day. This Packer defense is drastically different with Charles Woodson playing. Dom Capers will all of a sudden look like a genius compared to last week. It's amazing the difference a hall of fame player makes.
