Twins might consider Oswalt
By JOE CHRISTENSEN, Star Tribune
Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt reportedly wants to be traded to a contender, and the Twins are among the teams that are at least intrigued.
It's a longshot that Oswalt actually will land in Minnesota, but there are indications the Twins might check with the Astros to see what it would take to acquire the three-time All-Star.
The Twins like their rotation but realize they lack a true ace, so they'll at least listen when a pitcher such as Oswalt is on the trading block. He is 2-6 with a 2.66 ERA this year and has about $29 million remaining on his contract through the end of next season.
The Twins' best trade chip is Class AAA catcher Wilson Ramos, which might not help much in this case.
According to Baseball America, Houston's top prospect is catcher Jason Castro, their 2008 first-round draft pick who is also at Class AAA.
Large contact to take on, but the Twins are making $$$$$$$ with the new ballpark
