Minnesota Twins Official 2007 Thread (1 Viewer)

When is the new stadium gonna open? 2009? And how will that event effect the budget/salary cap situation? Do Twins homers believe they will increase payroll next near and the year after to match with the stadium opening? Just curious.

Increase in payroll?Oh hell no.Carl Pohlad must die, and soon I hope, and then the Pohlad rugrats must want to sell the team to somebody who realizes that winning a Central Division doesn't mean much when you still an't get out of the first round. The new owner will come in and please bring in a new manager. Why the hell does Gardnerforhire play Nick Sucko and Whiffdell White? Throw in Garret Jones and you have a stellar line-up that carried three hitter below .200 The only reason I can see for Nick Sucko starting is he must have seen Gardnerforhire in that bathroom at the Mpls/St. Paul airport hanging with Larry Craig.Hunter goes, Santana leaves after next year (or demands a trade after this year), and the horsecrap Castillo trade means some real painful, and empty years, at the new stadium.

They were saying last night the Twins offered Hunter a contract. Anyone have any details on that? They were talking a four year deal but I missed the talk of $$$$.

I know they offered him one a while ago but Hunter turned it down because he wanted more years. Only things I've heard recently about the Twins is there will be a firesale this summer and we're looking at some tough years in the near future.

Morneau will leave

Gonna be some NO empty seats in that new stadium in the beginning and for a while after that
Fixed. If you think that stadium won't be sold out for a minimum of 3 years from opening no matter how bad they are, then you are mistaken. There hasn't been an outdoor ballpark here forever and the novelty of the new field will be more important than the product they put on the field. That is why they are so unconcerned about signing anyone...people are going to be going to the games anyway and with the minimal payroll that park turns into a cash cow until the novelty of being new and outdoors wears off. Pohlad needs to kick the bucket very soon otherwise this is the direction things are headed.

Gotta disagree with youThat open air stadium will wear off as the 60-102 ghost of 1982 appears again

 they are not going to sell out for 3 years straight if they put out an inferior product.

Well this situation is getting more ugly.

Santana is looking to waive his no trade clause.

Hunter goes, Santana goes, Morneau will look at free agency...Mauer won't be able to save this team

If, and a big if, they do re-sign Hunter then Santana might stay but where will the $$$ come from. Pohlad must die but it is no guarantee that his kids will spend any money on the team.

There is NO WAY this stadium will be sold out for three years. It will be 1982 all over again only 60 wins will be a stretch.

Is Hunter a FA this year or next?
