Minnesota Vikings Offseason (2007) (1 Viewer)

Very happy with the Peterson pick. Now if they can find a way to get Dwayne Jarrett........

Has Andy Dufresne ordered is #28 jersey yet?

WOOHOO! :lmao:

Best occurence in a long time for Vikings fans. :o
:goodposting: After the "waste management" that the team has dealt with in free agency, we NEEDED a prime time player like Peterson to boost morale. Now get a second-tier WR and a DE and we'll have kicked some SERIOUS ### on Day One.

I'm probably in the strong minority, but I think that we have to give Udeze and James a chance. I'm not saying that we shouldn't keep them on a short leash, but they need to give those guys a bit more of a chance before they write those former first rounders off. IMHO.

You're entitled to your opinion. Unfortunately Udeze's goose-egg last year coupled with the fact that James may not be able to physically contribute this year (not a fact, but a possibility) give me little confidence in those guys. Why do you think we need a safety though? That's arguably our deepest position.

WR in round 2 and corner in round 3...I will be in HEAVEN!!! :lmao:
Gotta have a pass rusher in round 2, PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEASE!I like the AP pick, even though I was hoping for Landry.
I agree need to get a pass rusher in the 2nd, with Jackson at QB, no WR is going to set the world on fire in 07. Love the AP pick, best RB on the board at #7 was a steal, thank you Cleveland for passing on him, and putting all your eggs in the J. Lewis basket. :lmao:

Just need Atlanta to pass on Jarrett... PLEASE.... (unless Miami goes WR back-to-back)
Wow. We traded away the Jarrett pick. :lmao:
I haven't seen the details, but it is showing the VIkings picking in 3 picks, so we dropped a few spots. 49ers may take a WR, but there is no way DET does.... this may work out.
Now the Colts are on the clock, instead of the 49ers?... They grabbed a WR in rd 1... This could still work...

I know how this works. When everyone wants a guy and he somehow falls to them in the 2nd, they generally end up passing on them for whatever reason.

Please just take Jarrett...

I'm an SEC guy but I like Jarrett better. Rice ran a faster 40 but Jarrett looks like a faster football player to me.

off to the vikes draft party. hopefully not too many beers are tossed at morris and dubay. :lmao:
I've always wanted to go...is it worth it?
I always get free tickets and usually the VIP ones, so for me yes. :)We usually go a couple hours before the vikes pick and hang out, drink beer, watch draft stuff and listen to morris and pa talking just to hear their own voices. :)if you want to go next year, and I have extra tix i will keep ya in mind. this year I couldn't give em away.ETA: place erupted and was totally pumped to get AD. if the vikes would have traded or taken anyone else there would have been riots...

Loved the Marcus McCauley pick in the 3rd. i was hoping CB or DE or TE (of which I want the Delaware kid but assumed we'd consider a TE on Sunday most likely). From what I heard he had a rough senior year because he had a concussion early this past year but he loves to hit and he can cover. Now we have three solid corners. Okay work on a pass rushing DE first thing Sunday. :banned:

Is this heaven, no it is just South Dakota (but close enough today)!!!Wow! Love that first day! A little disappointed that they didn't take Jarrett, but I like Rice as well, plus that was a classic move down to pick up an extra fourth and still get your choice of WR. McCauley is a great value pick at a position of need. I'm excited for day 2!

My wish list for today (I know they can't get all of these guys, but if they get one or more I will be VERY happy - even more so than yesterday):

1. Tanard Jackson - secondary help is always welcome.

2. Rufus Alexander - Being an OU fan, I LOVED watching this guy play and thought he would be a day 1 pick.

3. Troy Smith, Zac Taylor, Chris Leak or Jared Zabransky - Love to get one of these guys to develop in case Tarvaris doesn't pan out - 2nd day pick isn't a loss if it doesn't work.

4. Steve Breaston - WR could always use more bodies and he could add a ton to the return game.

5. Aundrae Allison - another WR wouldn't hurt and this guy can be good.

6. Courtney Taylor - Did I mention that another WR would be welcome?

7. Rhema McKnight - Isn't he also a WR?

8. Ben Patrick - I think we are ok at TE but this guy sounds good.

9. Walter Thomas - freak of nature and they are always interesting.

10. Mike Jones - depth on the O-line wouldn't hurt.

11. Michael Bush or Antonio Pittman - why not...

Gotta love that trade with the Broncos!!

We give:

4th rounder (121)

We get:

6th rounder

7th rounder

2008 3rd rounder

Nice trade that we basically got for free and still get Sidney Rice

If that happened Donny I think I would have to call the EMT's to come get me but I would pass out with a smile on my face. I would also take a flier on Troy Smith if he is still there in the 6th.

Great weekend for Vikes fans. I the organization addressed most of their needs and got value at every pick. Anything else we get today is gravy. It's been a long time since this Viking fan felt this way on draft weekend.

If told me on Friday that this would be our draft, I would have lost a lot of money betting with you. Kudos to the TOA, I seriously can't remember a better draft from top to bottom since I've been a Viking fan. AND we picked up a 3rd next year!

1 Adrian Peterson RB 6-1 217 Oklahoma

2 Sidney Rice WR 6-3 202 South Carolina

3 Marcus McCauley CB 6-0 203 Fresno State

4 Brian Robison DE 6-3 259 Texas

5 Aundrae Allison WR 6-0 202 East Carolina

can anyone give me insight to picking Rice over Jarett? Wow, I'm disappointed in not getting him
Just wanted to say IMO Rice is going to be the best player you drafted this draft class. As an SEC fan he's been the best receiver in the SEC for a few years. Your going to like him. Congratulations. Signed-Bears Fan

:goodposting: Add in the fact that they also picked up a 3rd rounder next year and this is an A draft for the Vikings easily.

Nice draft so far but PLEASE people don't grade our draft or any other draft for at least 3-4 years down the road. Mannnnn I hate it when people do that!! :D  I love the fact that we went after our team needs and it APPEARS that we have great value.

Is that Delaware TE (Patrick) still availble? I hope we go after him still....not ready to put Shiancoe in Hawaii juuust yet.

Same here, the best Vikings draft in a long long while!
