Misconceptions, Fronts & Lies You See Right Through (1 Viewer)

As I get older, I am more aware of other people's BS. Post ones you happen to notice, even the obvious. I'll start:

Every woman taking a selfies always shoots from slightly above to make them face look thinner.

Every amatuer gambler is "up" over their lifetime. Yeah. Sure buddy.

Oops, carry on.  When I read the title I thought this was another Trump thread.

Politics in general (but mainly our 2 major parties). Every group has its misinformation ready to go at a moments notice. Like a small child it usually involves "the other side did it first".

This goes without saying, but commercials. Who even watches them anymore yet alone pays attention enough for any of it to register?

Every guy's stock portfolio is up massively year-in and year-out. They NEVER pick a stock that goes down.

I'm actually the inverse.  I've come to realize that while 99% of the time a commercial is useless to me, it's the 1% when I'm actually in need of a product that they get my business.

Example, I was in need of some travertine tile to replace cracked ones in my house.  The big box home maintenance stores didn't have the exact match.  Out of nowhere, I see a commercial for a local flooring company I hadn't heard of before who was having a sale.  Years ago I would have thought that it was a crazy coincidence that I saw the advertisement.  Now I realize I've probably seen that ad a bunch of times; it just never had an impact until I needed the goods they were selling.

Ok, so you think my take is right 99% of the time? That is pretty good.

Yeah.  But it's that 1% that'll get ya.  "1% of the time, it works every time."

To your point, I hate car commercials.  But I sure do pay attention when I'm car shopping.

That those who work hard will automatically prosper or that those who are struggling are lazy.  A lot of the times prosperity comes from good luck or privilege.

Just starting to separate yourself from Social Darwinism?
Ha.  No.  Just sick of hearing that success comes from hard work and poverty from laziness.  Sure, those are important factors, but as I'm sure you know, the world is slightly more complex than that.

Imperial Stormtroopers really aren't that precise.
I know this is funny but it's true. I've come to see the extreme formulaic pattern in almost all major movies. Drama, romance, horror, action, they're almost all the same in plot development and story arc when they come out of Hollywood.

women who share stories like this on facebook about how the only thing that people say to little girls is how cute they look and then proceed to comment on every photo posted by one of their female friends "You look so pretty!!!".
