Mix Tape Draft for your Wake or End of Life - now underway (1 Viewer)

16 Santana Europa Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile - My closest HS buds know what I'm talkin' about. Perfect funeral music, btw. It says goodbye.

17 Mark Knopfler Going Home Wild Theme - Another life long friend and world class sax player takes a place near the coffin to cover the sax parts here. He played it to death as a college roommate and he was in my kindergarten. Watched him play a couple days ago.  This is as fitting an end to a funeral as I know. The finality of the last five drum beats say - Done, leave, live.

18 Mozart Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart quietly closes what he opened while my mourners file out; but now he's festive and cheerful as head for a reception to tell lies about me.

Thanks for the idea Cos. I had a great time listening to my stuff and will spend some time with the rest soon enough.

love both the chill tracks... added the other to a playlist for.. .chillin'.
I think 6 out of my 6 were chill ...

there's a "like" button bottom right that you could use to let me know which ones you are referring to.

.... and I'm sure that I've got several more that you'll dig, depending on which you are liking.

Forgot to finish mine

Couldn't imagine finishing this thing off without these two:

#14 Alan Jackson - Remember When

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

#15 Pearl Jam - Just Breathe

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
What if I did and I'm a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
I come clean

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me 'till I die
Meet you on the other side

/end scene (pulls plug)

At some point I'd like to get these into playlists, but that entails more efforting than I am currently capable of.

First off, I want to say to cos that I'm sorry for the loss of your sister. I wasn't sure if she had passed or not so I had to look up your past posts to see.  I'm glad she is free of pain now, but I'm sorry that cancer cut her life short, even though she had a very full life from what you say. My grandmother died today. She was 98. We knew on Friday that she was in her last stages of the end, and on Saturday I made her a playlist of her favorite gospel songs, and there are a lot of them. She couldn't open her eyes or speak, but she could hear and feel touches. I rested my phone beside her ear on Saturday, and played the songs for her. Today her eyes were set, which means they open barely and stare straight ahead, and she had the rattle sound of death in her breathing. Again I placed my phone beside her ear, and played her songs. When it started she halfway opened her eyes, and her mouth tried to move. It was only for a moment, but we all knew she was listening. She was set free a little after 4 pm. Thanks, cos for this thread.  It gave me the idea to comfort my grandmother with something she loved, and It gave all my family some peace in knowing my grandmother heard something that gave her comfort before she passed. ❤️

I thought about this thread a couple weeks ago, and a couple of songs hit me after this thread had petered out.  I'm going to add 2 more just because I can.

With a nod to @Binky The Doormat, I'm adding the Ten Years After song to my list as well. I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do, so I leave it up to you.

Second, this song got into my head a few weeks ago and I can't get away from it. It's one I probably heard often when I was a kid but it seemed to have vanished: Wichita Lineman by Glen Campbell. I scanned the spreadsheet to see if anyone else had it on their list but I didn't find it; if someone else has it, I tip my cap to you.
