MJD Discussion (1 Viewer)

I know MJD is coming off a solid week, but do fantasy owners have to rely on him to break a 50 yard run every game to be productive? It worries me that the Jags led the entire game and he only got 9 carries. He's not even involved in the passing game as much as I would hope he would be. Is this just a warm up for some of his LT like preformances last year? Or should you try to trade him while his stock has gone up a little?

I have MJD and It scares me that he dosent get enough touches. Nothing against Fred Taylor but Jones Drew needs more carries. they need to use him like the eagles use Westbrook and Buckhalter. Adn they definetly dont use him enough on passing plays. He a good reciever . Hey they are winning so far be it for me to take them to task . But I am debating selling him high. I know he will have games like today in the future but how many is the question. I am 0-5 and I need wins now.

Jones is the killer, not Taylor. Last year Drew would have had those 8-10 4th quarter carries. He routinely broke them in the 2nd half last year. This year he's not getting the opps. 3 headed monster.

givin up fwp for mjd is insane. i havent watched many jax games this year, but when i look at the stats, i see a fairly similar offensive scheme between this year and last - taylor getting the bulk of the carries with jones-drew getting about half. mjd's stats this week are far from big in comparison to his big games last year, but maybe he's just getting warmed up. i guess right now i would like to be a mjd owner, but i dont plan on giving up any studs for him anytime soon. fwiw

Exactly. There was talk of LJ for MJD in another thread. I think there are some MJD owners that are trying to get hype swirling or something! :goodposting:

That's the only thing I can think of. MJD isn't in the same neighborhood as Parker or LJ.

I think the owner was frustrated he didn't get in the endzone again today....I listened to the game and he had 2 TD's over turned.

Anyway...I think MJD will slowy be fed the rock more and by seasons end will be the #1 RB in JAX.

It's a huge concern....you don't want your starting RB to get 9 touches. Sometimes there's a reason for the limited touches, like maybe they fell behind early and they had to pass or maybe the other team was just on the field most of the day.But that really wasn't the case here. He had a long run that buffed up his stats but not have double digit carries is terrible.

Just wanted to chime in because I listened to most of this game on the radio...

The Good:

He broke a sick TD, outran the defense

Picked up solid first downs on 2nd/3rd and longs

Was, by far, the most valuable RB on the field for the Jags all day

The Bad:

Saw only 9 carries and 3 targets (caught all 3)

Practically ignored in the 2nd half (1 carry in the 3rd quarter)

Stopped for no gain at the 5 yard line, then pulled for Greg Jones on 2nd and goal

The Ugly:

He's basically fighting for touches between him, Fred Taylor, Greg Jones, and David Garrard. There really isn't enough to go around to make him as consistent as he was last year (PPR league). I'm thinking we'll see a lot of 7-8 point games with some 20+ sprinkled in, but not enough to safely start him as a RB2 in most leagues. It's going to take an injury to Fred Taylor to open opportunities for MJD, and you can't really rely on something like that.
