MLB 2019 (1 Viewer)

Had Trea Turner in a bunch of lineups and he left injured in 1st inning :wall:
Yep he was in my DK. Ran out Eaton Trea and Soto. Bummer. Should have went with my gut when I saw all the rain down there at 6:30. But didn’t want to change it.

FD looking good so far even with Freeland’s tough 1st inning.

I had Trea and Adams who got hurt the next inning apparently. Looks like a losing night everywhere unless Bos and Oak guys come up big.

Eta- at least Rendon came through.

Managed +$1 on each site. I will take that.

I did a "main" LU that scored 120 and lucked out having a low scoring 5 player contest, and also took 1 of 2 H2Hs.  The other H2H I ran into a guy with Snell + Wash stack that put up 160+.

I saw the gpp winner had 223 despite a 0 from Realmuto.

Got crushed on FD, best lineup was somehow the Trea/Adams/Scherzer that scored 96+ and worst scored 53- down $8

Doubled my money on DK so live to fight another day there. Cashed a $1 gpp and a $.25 for a total of $3.51 on $1.75 in.

Busy today so most likely taking the day off

13 more points than my Verlander + Seattle LU. :bag:

I am sure I said it last year, but gpps sometimes just feel like throwing a stack vs the best/highest owned SP and go from there.

Wash blowing up Nola, and my couple doing anything now are white Sox vs Kluber LUs.

I too had plenty of Sea/Verlander and also a few Turner/Adams so nothing yesterday.  There were no .25 GPP today so just one $1 entry.

Cole with Dodgers and Correa + cheapies Duggar, Panik, Kang.

Finally a little success on DK, finished 30th in the daily dollar with 164+ and cashed for $5. Used Bauer/Friend with Atl and Tex bats.

Split on FD winning early only 50/50 and missing on my gpp.

Have a true gpp flyer for early FD

Maeda,Goldy,Keke,Turner,Tatis,Reyes,Fowler,Taylor,Cordero

Had more cheap Cards in but they weren't playing so stuck with Padres.

On FD,  also had 165+ using Fried/Atl/Tex for $1 in and $3 out.  Unfortunately had neither Gallo nor Guzman.  Had Soo, but FD makes you pick from at least 3 teams so took out Soo for 0 from Puig.   Puig and Odor are my first members of the do not roster squad for 2019.

Doing 8 .25 on FD since it is Friday night -- hope I can stay interested for 8 lineups.  Good luck tonight.

None of the pitchers were too exciting so just took a stab at a bunch of the cheaper ones -- even have a Sonny Gray (ugh).  Have Atl and Tex again in a few lineups then went off on some flyers using the best hitters I could and only being able to afford Sonny.

Feel like I am getting close on FD.  Last night i had tex+atl, just no Markakis.  Tonight I had 3 philly stacks, but one had Mookie, the other had k.marte, but didn't have both in a lineup.  One had Musgrove, so I think I am up a couple for the day.

Not hitting anything on DK.  Still trying with a 25cent LU here and there, but I'm not going to ramp it up there at all unless I start hitting more cash lines.

Tomorrow I am busy with a basketball tourney with my son, so i just threw in 4 25cent Mariner stacks in the early slate for fun since I haven't gotten to play them in a few days.

Holy high scoring day, Batman!

I put up what might be one of my best scores yet on FD - 219.7, but it was "only" good for 77th place and $6 as the winner put up 297.3.   Still, will take that, and I am up a few bucks for the weekend since my 25cent Seattle LUs duded yesterday.

I have a $3 6person Draft LU going tonight with Eflin/Turner/Trout/Gallo and I had Muncy, but was forced to switch to K.Hernandez since Muncy is out.  There is currently a 3 way tie at 60pts.  One has Joc, the other is done, and the person at 33pts has Seager/Bellinger/Blackmon, so this could  be interesting to watch.

FD today using Ryu for cash so I can get in a Coors bat in 2. Oak hitters Grossman and Simien are too cheap and using at least Blackmon who at 4k seems too cheap.

Just put in a $1 se and I am thinking about fading Coors for ownership. Placeholder has 3 Dodger lefties and 3 Seattle bats with super cheap SP and other 2 bats.   I might look at Oak stack too. Pinder has some power for 2.1k.

I thought this was an interesting take in that I was the same boat -- had the right teams stacked, but ended up missing on the "big" scorer.  Seemed like I would hit on 7/9 players and barely cash or just miss.   Rather than thinking I was getting close though, I was thinking this is a losing game -- seemed like you had to be lucky and perfect to win.  I will adopt your thinking and keep at it -- of  course a big spending day is one $1 GPP and 6 .25 entries.  Good luck to all.

My $1 SE is Madbum with Oak/Seat and Desmond because he's 3k and has some upside but probably chalk.

Welcome to the Seattle train!  Unfortunately the cheapie I tried tonight was V.Velasquez, so I might just limp to a cash with my $1SE.

I was looking at tomorrow already, and I will be going right back to the well with them vs. Homer Bailey.  That dude is trash.   Problem tomorrow is going to be finding value to get a decent SP.  Mariner prices are starting to climb, but there are a few that are still sub 4K on FD.

ETA:  Doh - nevermind.  I didn't change the SP on Plate IQ, they were up against Bailey tonight I guess?   They are going against Junis tomorrow night.

Trust me, I get what you are saying, and that is a reason I just have fun with it and don't try to figure out cash LUs too much - there is so much variance in baseball.    I guess what I am getting at is that I get more frustrated when I look at stats,  think I identify 2-3 teams to look at, and consistently don't get anything right.   That starts to wear on me more than writing down a team that puts up 12, but I just don't have the one guy that goes off.

It might be more boom or bust on your bankroll, but I do a similar entry style than you and seem to have better nights when I do 4 entries of the same core stack of a team that I like the matchup for.  Ie - I will do a Mariner stack in 4 25cent LU, but do 4 slightly different variations of it.  One will be Encarn, Haniger, Santana, and Bruce, one will have Healy instead of Bruce, etc, etc.   In the end, just have fun with it and embrace the variance.  I still have 0 clue how people consistently win at this sport.  I have tried pay sites, optimizers, and podcasts and still haven't had more consistent luck.  Mostly the last couple years it's been 3-4 losing nights, 1 decent night, 2-3 losing nights, good night, on and on.

I was listening to a podcast that said Junis throws a slider a good bit.  I looked at Plate IQ and they were right - 28%.   Haniger, Bruce, Encarn, and Santana all hit that very well - all +.200 ISOs and close to .300.  Haniger and Encarn crush is fastball profile (31 % of pitches).   Most of the team his a sinker well, and that is Junis' 3rd pitch.   I will probably still go back to the well then with the Mariner top of the order.

Took a beating last night as my SPs were a disaster. Ryu and Felix didn't even last 2 innings,Madbum and Lauer were ok but Oak bats let me down as well as most of my other bats. $3.50 in $0 out.

I keep telling myself I need to learn to walk away from nights like last night when the SP options are that bad, but I don't seem to listen to myself.  My FD LU fizzled and didn't cash.  I had 4 25 cent LUs in DK that hit for $3, so 2 in - 3 out last night.  My SPs were junk too - I think the highest point combo I had was 15pts, but all 4 had Encarn/Santana/Haniger and either Swanson or Tatis.

If playing DK tonight, keep an eye out for SD's LU.  Urias was called up and hit lead off last night (didn't score, but still) and is only 3.2K at 2B/SS.   Not sure if it's enough to help get to DeGrom tonight and still have any decent bats.  I don't see any SPs below M.gonzales tonight yet that I want to roll the dice on.  A podcast suggested taking a stab at Gibson to pair with DeGrom.  Those 2 + Urias would leave a little more than 4.2K/player I believe.

Think I'm just doing FD today and not messing with SP2. I've heard/ read of pairing Degromm with Means at 4.5k on DK but Don have the stones for that.

Oh man, I saw that this morning too, and he is on the RG LU tool as having the best pt/$ projection on the night.  I might try a couple 25 cent ones that way, but  what that tells me is that if he is going to be popular, I might try another Oak stack tonight and go with somebody like M.Gonzales.

Had time for a little more research this morning, and came up with these as good spots for bats tonight.  I wrote down names that matched up well with the types of pitches the SP throws too.

Milw - L:  Yelich, Shaw, Moust, Grandal, Thames  (a podcast said that LAA doesn't have Righties in the bullpen, so these guys could stay in longer b/c they won't get yanked for matchups?)

Dodger - L:  Joc, Bellinger, Muncy

SD - R:  Myers, Machado, Renfroe, Reyes

Seattle - R:  Haniger, Encarn, Santana, Bruce

Az-R:  Marte, Flores, Walker

StL-R:  Goldy, DeJong

I also wrote down the Tex lefties, as a lot of them hit his pitches well, and the roof is going to be open in Az tonight again.

The problem is, there isn't a lot of savings in there.  I started with DeGrom, Flores, and Reyes and that left me with 3050 per player left.  Good enough to try a Brewer stack without Yelich, so I might do that.

Just looked at the RG LU tool for FD, and saw that C.Davis' price is just $500 tonight.     I guess people might be using that in utility to get some DeGrom?  I also saw that besides him, they have Flores and F.Reyes as their best pt/$ play, so I guess I might be looking at similar things.

Lol at $500.  Every at bat Davis goes without a hit extends his record MLB record for hitless streak by every day player.

My DeGrom is a Semien-5-6-7 Oakland stack with Joc, Thames, Mous, and Odubel.  Will likely fail miserably.

Thanks, deGrom!!

I should have learned by now - just about every time I go near all in on a stud SP for gpps they dud out.   At least he's highly owned in my H2Hs and 5player contest.

I only used him in the 25 center. Actually shocked he’s 35% owned. Would never have even considered him if I thought he’d be that high.

I only did 2 50/50 on FD last night both with same Degromm lineup. Luckily he was 76+% owned so was still able to cash both with 98+ pts. Cash line was mid 80s.

Similar here - ended up a few bucks up because we all had deGrom.  Main LU was $3 in, and 8.10 out and scored 128.   Won 2 H2Hs and a 5 player.   Pillar was the guy that put me over, as I played him, Choo, and Bellinger as most seemed to be playing Colorado bats.   Most had the deGrom/Bour/Siemien/Pinder/Flores combo that I had as well.

Gpps flopped a bit, so that brought down my winnings a bit, but will still take that considering I was all over deGrom. I think it was a Minn/Mets game stack + Marquez LU that won my gpp when I looked.    There were a handful of good games and HRs in my list above, so I will also take that as a positive.

Back at it today.  I have the day off, so between cleaning tasks I will try to dig a little deeper today again.

Have a cheap gpp for the early games saved, but I think I might pull that.  Looks like Coors might ppd since there is a blizzard warning tonight, and it's cold and rainy in Chicago.  I guess I could keep it and just stack Clev and Padres or something, but who knows.

As for tonight, it looks like a little more of the same stacks.   It looks like the wind it Wrigley is blowing in at about 20mph, which is a big bump down to bats, so I basically crossed them off.   Just looking at the SPs I wrote down (names that popped up on Plate IQ when looking at pitch type):

Balt - L:  C.Davis (throws 60% sinker, which he seems to have great stats against, and is still $500)

Mets - L:  Nimmo, Cano, Conforto

Oak- both:  1-8 hit the FF well, and Chapman, K.Davis, Morales, Profar stood out with the secondary pitches

Seat-R:  Haniger, Santana, E5, Healy

Tex-R:  Pence

I will look at pitching more for these stacks, but I don't think any night is a bad night to go with Dodger, Philly, or Milwaukee bats either.

SPs look a little sketchy tonight too.  I think Woodruff will turn chalkier if Trout is out.  Depending on how many LHBs Tex throws out there, Ray could be an interesting gpp play.   McHugh has some good K upside, so I will look at him more too.

Out of DK funds again. Used the last for PGA and a $.25 early only(Boyd/Marg,tigers,Ray's and Machado) and $.25 main.
You might get some back if you did Tigers and Rays.

A guy with Glasnow,Machado and Pham came out of nowhere to jump into 1st but should still take 2nd if Margevious? gets the win

Ended up in 3rd for $3.51 so put this in a $1 SE

Woodruff,Montas,Grandal,Vogelbach,Gordon,Semien,Chapman, Yelich,Cain, Grossman

So far looking like a long night for me on FD.  I have 3 in the 3max with Oak stacks, but all the other pieces are zeros - one has a Philly stack with it, one Seattle, the other has Mets.   Then I did a couple H2Hs and a 5player, and I am the only one that doesn't have an Oak stack, so I am getting crushed there.

Probably in the same boat since Montas didn't work out. Chapman/Semien both 30%+ owned and Davis at 35 so that doesn't help either.

Easy come easy go, lol
