MLB 2019 (1 Viewer)

This is actually an interesting main slate - just 5 games, and some good pitchers in tough spots.   I have off today, so I might have some fun trying to figure this out.

I assume Nola might be the chalk, so according to my post last night i need a Marlins stack in a cheap LU?  :oldunsure:

Yeah, Smith at SP with Marlins and Cle bats to test your theory.

I will probably look on Draft today too.  These are days that I like jumping in there - when there are 4-5 good SPs (even if in not great spots), so you don't have to worry about that position until the last pick.

Not much for the early slate, but will probably through a quarter at a Dodger-R stack + one offs.

Was thinking the same thing about Draft- try for 2 of Betts,JD and Bogaerts and take SP last so don't have to pick.

Early slate is garbage. Ariz/Pitt likely to be a rain out or at least delayed and don't like Lester almost ever but especially first game off DL. Would use Keke and whoever steals bases for LAD if I play all day. Lester doesn't even try to stop the run game.

Castillo gets added into the mix on Draft, so even a 6man contest would probably alright to target bats the first 4 picks.

I thought about using a little of my lucky NBA winnings to try the $5 tournament today.

Was looking over the Draft slates and contests and see they have 10 man drafts for a 7 game slate. In that case I would definitely want to have at least a top 6 SP.

Have you had any luck with the tourney s there? I've made it to the 2nd round a couple times in MLB and PGA but haven't been able to cash. Should have in PGA but my 2nd Rd pick withdrew right after the draft so got stuck choosing another from the scrap heap and missed cashing by 3 points.

Tourneys, not a ton, but I still take stabs every once in awhile if the bankroll gets up a little and there is on $5 or under.  I have more luck with the 6man or 3 man contests and trying to grab 2-3 batters from an O I like.   I will also throw together a $1 Dream Team and try my hand at that with a P or a couple bats that I don't think will be uber popular.

Yeah couldn't believe how cheap Bos bats are but I'm mostly going  cash so it's okay. For gpp maybe use the less popular guys like Devers,Bradley whoever C.

Ramerez,Miggy and 2 Bos bats are my cash core with Nola  so far.

Just looked at Rotowire's optimizer that gives ownership %, and they have Nola under 1% and Bauer/Cole/Marco at 50%+.  I wish this was true but I don't see it.  (or is there weather issues in Philly??)

First stop for research was mlbsavant to look at some possible bvp for gpp one-offs.  Of course the Sox showed up - mostly Betts, Pearce, and Moreland.

When I looked at xBA and xSlg vs. the SP a couple gpp ideas popped out:  Castellanos, Lindor, and Chirinos.    When just looking at xSlg, Bauers and Reddick popped up.

I entered a 4 man $5 Draft at work and got called away as I was working on my que. Came back 20+ mins later draft was over. I had 3rd pick and it gave me this team- Tanaka,Moreland, Bogaerts,Betts, Jdmart. Go Rsox- lol

Damn.  I assumed it would be Red Sox night and they would be gobbled up pretty quickly.

Oops.  Similar happened to me. Joined a $5 5man tournament, and got pulled away so it autodrafted.  I was also at the 3 spot, and got:  Cole/Moreland/Realmuto/Trout/Haniger

Means zip, but I have the highest projected total!!

Nice! In my draft Trout and Cole went before my pick, Trout was still my top choice. Had Braves ahead of Boston guys that got scooped up too. I'm projected for 2nd.

My cheap/bad gpp ideas were trying Det and Mia.   Mia is trash and cheap.   Looking at the plate IQ, it was hard to find anything to want to try, but I ended up with this for 25cents:

Bauer/Cole - Alfaro - Walker - Chavis - Anderson - Lindor - Granderson - Bradley - Gallo

All sorts of gpp weirdness in here:  1-3-4-6 stack, Gallo in a L-L matchup, lower order Boston combo, and Lindor vs one of my SPs.

For the 2 Det LU I basically did a game stack.  I have Goodrum/Castellanos/Beckham/Candy for Det, Betts/Benintend/Chavis, and then Bauer/C.Smith.  Did another one similar with some one offs.

$1 on FD  Smith, Encarncion,Chavis,Healy,Rojas,Hanniger,Santana,Gardner,Moreland

I will have to try draft tomorrow.  I put $10 in last year to get the free FBG subscription and have not been back.

Good luck

Also have 2 $2 50/50 on FD, 1 with Cole and 1 with Nola both have Miggy,Ramirez and Reddick. Those 3 are in all my lineups so expect goose eggs from them.

Good luck!!

Jmart is 75% and Betts 85% in cash on dk.

I think all the bost ofs are 30-40% in gpp.  Like a podcast said this morning, for baseball every player's floor is 0, so sometimes the ownership gets to a point where it doesn't pay to play those guys.

..and the cash lines just went past me, so doesn't look like cash lineups will be profitable, but hopefully my one Seattle stack will make it so it's not a total loss of a night.

My gpp with Sea scored 137+ but cash line was 141+.  1 50/50 scored 109 and finished 100th, the other 129+ and finished 82nd. Those cash lines were 149+ and 146+, crazy day.

Factoring both sites, I managed to break even, but my DK funds are leaking as quickly as my FD funds were.   I had a Seattle LU with MarcoG/C.Smith as my SP duo hit for $5 that stopped the bleeding a little.  Up a couple bucks on Draft, despite the total dud that was the LU I posted above.  I was in a few $1 6mans that all cashed because I had a lot of Castellanos/Betts/Marco/Chavis.

Well, going to try again today, but I was reminded last night why I hate 50/50s and 2xs, so I am not sure I will go that route today.  At first glance, I think I am going to be living in the 7.6K-8.3K range with SPs - McHugh, Ryu, Rodon, Fried, Eickhoff, Stroman are all in there.  I do wonder how long Sheffield will be in the game b/c he is due to come up after 2 innings for Kikuchi and he is only 4k.  Maybe pair him with a DeGrom/Scherzer/Paxton type of SP1?

Using my last $.10 on DK

Going with Stroman/Rodon and bats from Seat and Minn with whatever C I can use for 3.2k.
These are two that I had written down.  There is a ton of weather concerns in the early games, so I am not sure if that is raise ownership on Seattle, but they usually go lower owned since they start late (and it is a huge slate, so usually don't worry a ton about ownership).   I just don't know how you get away from targeting Miller, especially since Seattle toasted their bullpen last night too.

Other than Gordon (5%) the other Seat guys were 16%+ owned last night which is probably why I couldn't catch the cash line. Well that and the fact my Hou stack didn't work out.

You talking gpp?

Must be the site differences and pricing.  In my gpp Healy was <10% and E5 and Haniger were 10-11.  Decent for a 5 game slate.

Beckham was about 18% in both formats.

Between Houston and Philly, I am not sure which have lost me more $ this year trying to stack them up.

Yeah that was my gpp. Was expecting to lose rolling with Hou vs stud SP but that's also how to win big. Hou guys all under 5% owned. Just swapping Beckham for Correa I would have min cashed. Oh well, it's only money- lol

For sure, you have to play the % game in gpps, especially baseball since it's so variable.   Looking at the top of the leaderboard, fading Bost was the play last night.  At most I saw 1 player in the lineup, and it was usually Benintendi or Chavis.  Mostly Seattle stack, and Marco/Smith plus fillers like Calhoun.

Hated to spend the money, but I chose Paxson against my SFG -- him possibly getting 6x value seems more likely than any of the other pitchers.  Skipped all the weather games and not thrilled with what I could fit in.

$1 GPP on FD  --- Paxson, Garver, Harrison, Carpenter, Tucker, Mallex, Bruce, N.Cruz, Cron

Good luck tonight

Up a few bucks on the day.  I was kind of excited when the game started because I had a full Milw-L stack to go with Scherzer/Bryant/Baez/Bellinger, but it was too high scoring of a night to overcome Sheffield's 5 pts (tried that to get all the bats and Scherzer in) and Grandal's 0.

Have the day off, and looking at a possible snow storm, so I might have time to look stuff over betterr today.

Today's DK bonus was a $.25 ticket so using that for early only gpp.

Going Stras/Hudson with Cle/Minn bats
I was staring at Cleveland this morning.  Love Minnesota too, but damn are they expensive.  I was leaning Clev or NY because of pricing and could probably fit in a stack better.

I have a cash LU I was looking at and leaning Strasb/Price?   An odd SP I was looking at for gpp was Mahle since he was a 33% K rate vs RHBs this season so far and will get 5 of them and a Pitcher today - that is just my 25cent play though Another tough slate where there is no really cheap SP and pricing is still tough.  I think guys like Votto, Winker, LeMahieu, Longoria, L.Martin, and  C.Santana were standing out as under 4K guys that should be looked at today to open things up for maybe a good bat or two.

I am surprised the NY total is that low.  Only 3.44 implied total.  I know they are banged up, but Holland isn't that good of a P.
