This is always one of my favorite threads each season. Make five bold predictions. Really BOLD predictions.

1. Luke Scott hits 40 homers but drives in only 80 runs

2. Roy Halladay wins 15 games*

3. Starlin Castro goes 15/30 and gets an unassisted triple play in the All Star game

4. Jonathan Sanchez implodes. 5+ ERA 1.40+ WHIP

5. Matt Thornton saves 57 games, tying Bobby Thigpen's team record.

* Pitching lefthanded

Not sure is Castro will get enough at bats to go 15/30 in the all-star game, but I guess you did say bold predictions...

Anyway, here are mine:

1. Braves beat out Philly for the NL East, ending their streak at 5

2. Grienkie wins 20+ and wins the NL Cy Young

3. Rangers and Yankees don't make the playoffs

Would this be a record? (least RBI for a guy with 40 hrs?)

It would be.Here's the list of 40+HR with fewer than 100 RBI.

Alfonso Soriano 46 95

Barry Bonds 45 90

Harmon Killebrew 45 96

Hank Aaron 44 97

Matt Williams 43 96

Davey Johnson 43 99

Mickey Mantle 42 97

Ken Griffey, Jr. 40 90

Duke Snider 40 92

Mickey Mantle 40 94

Darrell Evans 40 94

Hank Aaron 40 96

Rico Petrocelli 40 97

Oakland makes it to the ALCS. :homer:

Giants miss the playoffs.

Rockies win their division.

Carlos Zambrano wins 18 games and is top 5 in Cy Young votes.

I'll think of a fifth later.

This list is lacking Adam Dunn's 2006 season of 40 HR and 92 RBI. He also had 40 and exactly 100 in 2008.

1. Chris Davis gets traded to the Astros for Wallace and a can of corn. Davis hits 45 HRs and strikes out 243 times.

2. Starlin Castro has to go to triple A on assignment after failing to crack the Mendoza line thru May. He returns hot and finishes the year batting .280 with 11 HRs.

3. The Dodgers and Mets make it to the NLCS, but neither can afford the airfare.

4. Baseball tonight does five consecutive broadcasts that start and end on the time set on my DVR.

5. With the ongoing NFL strike, MLB ratings reach record highs, with the world series earning 6 of the 8 most watched shows for the year.

1. Jose Bautista hits 40+ HR

2. Pablo Sandoval wins the NL batting title

3. James Loney hits 25 HR and drives in over 100

4. Ichiro fails to bat .300

5. Jordan Zimmerman wins more games than Josh Johnson

Yanks win the East as Nova and Garcia combine for 30 wins.

Phillies lose the NL East on the last day of the season.

KC Royals have MLB's best record after the All-Star break.

Prince Fielder leads the Milwaukee Brewers to their 1st 100 win season and wins the NL MVP. I'm not ready to predict them World Series winners, but I think they have as good of a chance as anyone to win it this year.

Baltimore Orioles finish 3rd in the AL East

Derek Jeter returns to form, hits > .300 with a OPS > .800.

I'm also on the Jordan Zimmerman bandwagon, he ends up top 5 in NL Cy Young voting

Albert Pujols gets traded

Mark Trumbo = Paul Konerko

Reid Brignac = Stephen Drew

BJ Upton = Carl Crawford

Will Venable = Drew Stubbs

Colby Rasmus = Matt Holliday

Hiroki Kuroda = Roy Oswalt

Gio Gonzalez = David Price

Aaron Harang = Phil Hughes

I really only follow NL so here it goes...

1) Marcum leads the Brewers in wins with 17.

2) The Dodgers starters have an ERA of 3.45.

3) The Phillies offense ranks in the bottom third of the NL.

4) Tyler Colvin will lead the Cubs in HRs and be an all-star.

5) The Cubs will win NL.

1. All 5 teams in the Al East finish .500 or over.

2. None of the AL East teams make the ALCS.

3. Pujols does not finish the year on the Cardinals.

4. The Royals will play meaningful games in September.

5. The World Series will feature the White Sox and Dodgers.

1) Twins win the division but still lose in round 1, this time to Boston.

2) Alex Gordon hits 25 home runs and knocks in 100.

3) Dexter Fowler steals 40 bases.

4) Brian Duensing wins 15 games.

5) Jay Bruce hits 48 home runs.

[*]Prince Fielder wins the MVP

[*]Jimmy Rollins outproduces Tulo @ SS

[*]Alex Gordon is a top 5 3B

[*]Max Scherzer is a top 5 SP

[*]Ryan Madson leads the NL in saves

1) Howie Kendrick wins the AL batting title.

2) Manny Ramirez goes for at least 30/100.

3) The Mets have a better season than most people think, and are in the playoff hunt.

4) Max Scherzer wins 19 games and the AL Cy Young.

5) Mike Morse leads the NL in HR.

The Braves win the NL East

Adam Dunn wins the AL MVP

Manny Baneulos comes up in July and finishes 2nd in the ROY balloting

Manny Ramierez is cut by August 15

Matt Joyce hits 30 homers

The Rockies win the World Series

M. Aviles KC becomes a great option at 2b - stealing 30 bags, hitting .300 and adds 18 bombs for good measure;

Jesus Montero hits the big stage in July as a nearly Fulltime DH and emergency Catcher and makes everyone wonder why the NYY kept Posada around;

Michael Pineda finishes with an ERA under 3 and runs away with the AL ROY voting;

Tex accquires a closer at the deadline and Feliz goes straight to the rotation;

Feliz pitches game 1 of the World Series for the Rangers.. and wins;

The Royals stay in the Wild Card hunt until Mid September;

Utley does not play this season;

Latos makes less than 10 starts before getting TJ;

Manny hits 40 bombs and blocks a late season trade to a contender;

This Scherzer talk has got to stop....seriously.

Quentin hits 39 hrs and the White Sox are all but locked up by late August.

Tulowitzki is a huge disappointment. .277 22 89

Dice-K wins 18 games, keeps his K/BB ratio 2.5/1 and just barley creeps under 4.00 with 3.98 ERA

Jay Bruce finishes 5th in NL MVP voting or he's sent down in June - Haven't figured this one out yet.

Red Sox and Rays are both winless through 6 games. Baltimore is a beast in the AL east

I've got a few more that have to wait until all drafts have finished.

These drafts are going to have an impact on what happens on a real baseball field?

[*]Utley comes back from and hits 25+ homers

[*]Carlos Pena leads the NL in dingers

[*]Jayson Werth's numbers improve in Washington

[*]the Marlins win the NL Wildcard

[*]Jason Heyward hits 40 dingers

at the trade deadline, the Marlins are buyers. Florida picks up Kelly Johnson, Aramis Ramirez, or Carlos Beltran, and goes on to win the NL East, as their rotation solidifies to be just a notch below the Phillies.

A Rod will win AL MVP

Ian Kinsler will play more than 145 games

Ted Lilly will win 18 games

The Reds finish in 4th in the NLC

Ryan Howard hits less than 25 homers

Oops, looks like my Matt KEMP will go bonkers this year prediction is in the wrong (breakout) thread.

BRB

MATT KEMP is going to go crazy.

I'm not a fantasy baseballer, but I'm a Dodgers fan and here's my theory on what happened to him last year:

RIHANNA :shock: I can't even make it through the whole video.

They were talking about how much she ####ed him up last year and I actually believe it. Some of the funnier #### was how she was pissed how they'd play every day and in the same city like 3 times. :lmao: Stuff like that. Or how he'd be in the locker room furiously texting before and after games, every day, trying to get back with her or some ####. Hilarious.

On a more serious note, I do remember the guy being totally lost out there in the field, especially the first part of the season. The guy simply wasn't into it, I remember talking about it with Dodger buddies and we would chalk it up to not having to work that hard anymore, but maybe he was also #####-whipped, bad.

Also, feel free to check and see if any of your players are in that futures/player props thread (the real reason I'm here), if you would. I know Kemp isn't on there. :no: Not sure why...

1.Dan Uggla will be in the MVP race

2.SD Padres = worst team in the NL

3.Neither the Yankees or Red Sox win the AL East (pitching pitching pitching)

4.Brewers vs Blue Jays in the WS

5.Cubs win 90 games

I think the Red Sox have pretty good pitching.
Really? I think they have a chance to have a decent staff but at this moment I see them as only two deep. Lester is as solid as they come and Buchholz had a nice year but what do they have after that? Beckett is by far not the same guy he has been. Will he bounce back or be the same guy he was last year when he posted an ERA of over 5.70? He sure hasn't looked any better than that this spring. Maybe Lackey will bounce back but I'd like to see some solid starts from him before declaring he's ready to contribute. Dice K is another one that has tons of questionmarks and yet another starter that had an ERA of almost 4.70 last season. So a starting staff consisting of three guys with ERAs of 4.40, 4.69 and 5.79 just doesn't seem that great to me. Sure maybe these guys will get it together but at this moment I don't see much pointing to that happening.

compared to the Yankees maybe
Id say slightly better. Id say CC & Hughes are basically equal to Lester & BucholzAJ & Beckett both stink. Garcia was better than DiceK last year. Lackey stunk last year and Nova is an unknown quantity.If I ranked the Yanks as a 2 on a scale of 1-5 Id rank the Sox as a 3.
