Eagles lose RB Moats to fractured ankle

Eagles RB Ryan Moats is likely to miss the upcoming season after fracturing his ankle in Monday night's preseason game.

Moats was only vying for the No. 4 RB role with rookie Nate Ilaoa, so it's not a major loss. But because Brian Westbrook tends to be injury prone, the team normally carries four halfbacks. I don't think he was going to make the team anyway. Reid soured on him a loooonnnggg time ago.

My question is: can they cut him since he was hurt in a game? I think the Players Assoc. contract prohibits them from cutting someone hurt under these circumstances.

Don't think they can just cut him. But I believe that they can reach an injury settlement w/ him and then release him.
