Monday Night Football (1 Viewer)

Seriously though, why give a franchise like Cleveland a Monday night game until they show some sign of moving toward respectability? Does anyone outside of Cleveland really want to watch this team?

Apparently not.... They had to purchase tickets to distribute to the USO and other local organizations to keep the game from being blacked out.http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=10111

As a result of combined efforts by the Cleveland Browns, ESPN, Bud Light and WJW-TV (FOX 8), the Browns-Ravens game this Monday night at Cleveland Browns Stadium will be televised locally.

The game, which kicks off at 8:30 p.m., will air nationally on ESPN, in addition to WJW-TV in the Cleveland area. The four entities will distribute remaining tickets to the USO and other local organizations.

:lmao: that looked like a good game when scheduled and it will be. The Titans are rebounding well, VY will be starting in Houston and you get to watch the Johnsons.

I couldn't disagree more as far as next week's game goes. The Texans/Titans game in week 2 was probably one of the 5 most entertaining games of the season so far. The Texans are a very legit wildcard contender, if not a wildcard favorite. The Titans look like that non-playoff team that none of the contenders really want to play down the stretch. Guys like Ryans, Finnegan and Roos are barely known to the average football fan, but are all among the top-10 and maybe top-5 players at their positions. Guys like Schaub, Andre Johnson and Chris Johnson are major stars who don't get enough hype from non-FFer's. Not to mention guys who are pretty hyped, like Mario Williams and, of course, Vince Young. Looking ahead, outside of Pats/Saints, Texans/Titans looks like the best Monday Night game left.

Pathetic game, yes. The NFL needs to stop giving those clowns a MNF game every year until they stop sucking almost every year.

Wth are you talking about? The Browns? They were 2-1 on MNF last year and hadn't been on Monday Night since 2003.
Ouch. :own3d:
 They were given some prime time spots last year after having a good 2007. They put up some pretty good performances last year in Prime Time, so they probably figured they'd give them one more shot in '09.

While I agree and I will watch it, from a pure MNF standpoint of drawing the non-hardcore fans, it won't be a big draw.

I'm hoping to watch Ray Rice go Bananas against the Browns. I'm hoping for 200 yards 2 TDs...not cause I own him, but because the #1 guy in our league is playing against him, and I want to see him destroyed so I can jump into the #1 spot.

If that were the biggest consideration we'd see nothing but Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Cowboys, Giants, and Vikings vs. Packers.

How many people are going to watch this game?
I'm sure it will be the lowest rated MNF game of the year...and still kick the #### of everything else on cable. At a minimum you have fantasy footballers, gamblers and fans of the two teams watching. Obviously plenty of other sports fans will tune in because even the worst NFL game is better than the other sports options on a Monday night? Some meaningless early season NHL or NBA game? No thanks.ETA: I can't say a-r-s-e? Really? I'm fine with a language filter, but sheesh.

Good for them. They were still 4-12 last year. Giving a team that was 4-12 a home game on MNF is ######ed. The Browns go 4-12 and get a home MNF game. The Arizona Cardinals go to their first Super Bowl ever and do not. There is something wrong with this picture.

:lmao: BAL/GB - although both are in the playoff hunt

ARI/SF - although they might be playing for the division

NYG/WAS - comedy of errors or lopsided game? I have enough Giants on my team to look forward to this game

MIN/CHI - MIN will be playing for a 1 or 2 seed

The Giants / Skins game is the only one that looks plain bad after this week, but they could have done better.

the sunday nite game is the marquee matchup, weekly, for the most part. MNF aint what it used to be.
And that's because of the flex scheduling. You can't reschedule a MNF game to Sunday. Why do you think MNF moved to ESPN? So the better game will be on regular TV, SNF on NBC.

Can it be any worse than the Thu night game (Cutler & the 49'ers) that we didn't see becasue it was on NFL network?

It's football and I can watch it for free, that's good enough for me.

Another excuse to drink beer for 3 hours!

Cheers!
