The Bears Tank Johnson got more bad news early this morning. His 'boyhood pal' who got cuffed and jailed while at his house GOT MURDERED:

Man tentatively identified as Tank Johnson’s bodyguard slain

The Associated Press

Published December 16, 2006, 8:23 AM CST

The personal troubles of Chicago Bears nose tackle Tank Johnson continued early Saturday when a man tentatively identified as his bodyguard was shot to death outside a Chicago nightclub.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Willie B. Posey, 26, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital about 2 a.m. The office listed Posey's address as Johnson's home in north suburban Gurnee.

Chicago Police could not immediately confirm whether Posey was the man of the same name who was released on bond Friday after being arrested on marijuana charges at Johnson's home, but local television stations ran footage of Johnson leaving the hospital where Posey was pronounced dead Sunday morning.

Police Officer Kelly Liakopolous said she could confirm only that a man was shot once in the back during a fight outside the Ice Bar, a club in the city's popular River North neighborhood.

Posey was arrested Thursday on a count of felony cannabis possession during a police search of Johnson's home. Posey was released after posting the $10,000 bond set by a Lake County Circuit Court judge and had been scheduled to return to court Dec. 21.

Johnson was not at home during the search, but was later arrested himself on misdemeanor weapons charges because six unregistered firearms were found at his residence, police said.

Two of the weapons seized from Johnson's home were assault-style rifles, an AR-15 and a .223 caliber, said Gurnee Police Chief Robert Jones. Three were powerful handguns -- a .44 Magnum, a .50 caliber, and a .45 caliber -- and one was a .308 Winchester hunting rifle, Jones said.

Johnson was released after posting 10 percent of his $1,000 bond, but Bears officials noted that it was his third legal entanglement in the last 18 months.

Coach Lovie Smith said Johnson will sit out Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. He said it was not a disciplinary action because that would have to come from the NFL.

Johnson practiced Friday and afterward offered a public apology to his teammates and family. He is scheduled for a court appearance Jan. 9, which would be several days before the NFC North champion Bears play their first postseason game.

In November 2005, Johnson was sentenced to 18 months probation and 40 hours community service after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from an arrest in which a nightclub valet reported seeing Johnson with a handgun in his sport utility vehicle.

Johnson also was arrested last February after a confrontation outside a Chicago nightclub, but the charges were dropped after the police officer he allegedly scuffled with decided not to pursue the case.

Holy jeez.....what the hell is Tank up to?

This is awful for this team. Cant believe this ####

Allegedly, Tank was with Posey at the bar too...

What an idiot.. I guess in his words at yesterday's press conference "A man's gotta be a man."

I got bad news for Tank, sometimes a man gets turned into a woman by a cellmate named Bubba.

MORE TROUBLE FOR TANK

Less than two days after the home of Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was raided, the man who was arrested for marijuana possession at Johnson's residence has been shot and killed.

William Posey, 26, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning. Although police have not confirmed that he is the same 26-year-old William Posey who was busted on Thursday, the Chicago media spotted Johnson exiting the same hospital on Saturday.

Posey was shot once in the back in a fight outside the Ice Bar. WSCR radio in Chicago reports that Johnson was with Posey at the time. (It's good to see that Johnson decided to lay low after Thursday's events.)

On Friday, Posey said in court that he was Johnson's bodyguard. He later posted bond and was released.

Also on Friday, the Bears announced that Johnson would miss Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Though coach Lovie Smith said that the move was not disciplinary in nature, it sure smells like a punishment to us. It remains to be seen whether Johnson's absence extends beyond this weekend in light of the more recent incident.

Well, I can't see them playing him anymore this year, probably not even in the playoff's. What a jerk.

" I'm just doing the things that makes a man a man" - Tank Johnson

He sure has a warped view of that.

At 6'3" and 300 pounds...... Tank=Bubba

I still cant believe this garbageI am beyond pissed off
Really.....I don't follow Da Bears but by looking at his stats....it would seem he would be easy to replace
Tank is more about potential than production. Funny, the Bears run D started it's decline when Tank took over the nose tackle. I don't know, but his loss doesn't worry me too much. I'm already worried enough about Tommy Harris being out. The Bears have lost their top 3 DT this year. But Boone, Scott, and Idonija I think can hold it together I think...hope.

Seems to me if he would concentrate on football he would be very good. That is obviously on the back burner. Dope...

I don't buy that they won't play him this year.

As stupid as his judgement is, he hasn't been convicted of anything yet - and with Tommie Harris out, they need an #### kickin' DT.

Let him eat humble pie, fill up with rage and then play him in their first playoff game.

...or get shot dead at Ice Bar by New Years...

I wonder if the assailant(s) knew Tank or was it random? Maybe the assailants knew Tank and his bodyguard would be unarmed since they just had their weapons seized and they decided to take their opprotunity. Seems to me if a guy the size of Tank is so well armed all the time he might have had his reasons.

Sounds like he is up to no good. How, specifically, does this hurt the defense? I assume his backup isn't as good, but will it be that much of a dropoff?

They only have 3 DT's on the roster for tomorrows game with T Johnson and T Harris out. Could really get exposed in the playoffs vs the run.

They've got good depth at DT:Ian Scott

Alphonso Boone

Antonio Garay

Israel Idonije (he has NO problem sliding inside)

Am I the only one that finds it slightly humerous that his bodyguard's name is Posey :lmao:

He really gets after the quarterback. To go from him and Harris, two guys that can really get up the field and get a good push consistently, to Boone and Scott is just devastating

Actually might not be too bad for their run D, but it will really, really hurt their pass rush. Scott and Boone are better at playing the run than getting to the qb

I've never been a huge fan of Tank, but if anything, like stated earlier, this hurts because they're so thin now at the DT position.

I love how players like this are called "troubled" when they screw up.

The guy is a jerk, plain and simple.

his friend and bodyguard got shot in the back and died yet somehow he's the jerk here?

is there more to this story? he may be...I'm just not seeing it from these reports.

He's a jerk for having loaded guns and weed around little kids. He's a jerk for putting no thought into how his actions affects his teammates. He's an idiot for not being smart enough to lay low after the arrest two days prior.

The Bears still have enough depth, even after losing their top two tackles, to, at least, be average - remember, even with Tommie Harris and Tank Johnson in the middle, the Bears were getting run over by opposing running games.Ian Scott is an underrated DT who got benched in my opinion due to the Bears wanting to Harris/Johnson together, and, being an unrestricted free agent, I think they thought now was the time to make the move. Saying that, he's good against the run, and will not hurt the Bears out there. The other tackle position is in doubt. Alfonso Boone will probably start, and he's a good rotation player, not a starter, but as part of rotation, he can do okey.Buffalo had put an offer sheet in for Idonije (spelling ??) in the off-season, and the Bears matched it. They like him as a good pass rusher on the DE spot, but they do slide hiim inside on passing downs - now he'll most definitely be used on the obvious passing situations, espeically with the rookie Anderson having a great season spelling Brown/Ogunleye. Gray is also available as another DT.So, all in all, despite not having your top 2 DT's, for at least this weekend without Johnson, things could be worse - Scott is a fine player, and the other spot, in particular, will see some situational play from Idonije, Gray and Boone.

See my previous post - Scott/Boone/Gray are primarily DT's, but Idonije will also be part of the rotation. Four is good enough to get by with, and we'll see what happens with Tank Johnson.

He's a jerk for setting up his Bodyguard to be killed so he didn't testify against the drug trafficking/distribution ring the Tank has going.yea... it's speculation... but someone needs to say it

Don't know if it's true or not but it was one of the first things that crossed my mind when I heard about it.

Me too. :bag:

Man, the house is coming down on this guy.

If OJ is looking for the "real killer", he may

want to send the boys over to Tank's palace

to do a little snoopin' around.

You mean Garay? Who knows what he could even give? Nobody has seen enough of him to know if he is worth anything.

You are correct ...Garay, my apology. You're also right, who knows what he can give, but we're asking him,at this points, to be the 3rd tackle, maybe the 4th in pass rushing situations.

Announcers just said Tank had played his last game as a Bear during the Bears game. What an idiot. These guys don't deserve to play this great game. :(
