Morency undervalued? (1 Viewer)

With Lundy-maina going on, is Vernand Morency being overlooked? Kubiak is saying they will rotate the backs and they will basically split time. Everyone is acting like Lundy is a lock to be the full-time starter, but that does not seem to be the case, at least not yet. They could continue to split carries if neither shine, or Morency could impress and take the job. Don't discount Morency just yet.

I had actually kicked around dropping Morency when Lundy was named the starter, but I'm glad I didn't with the recent news on the division of carries, which suggests it will be more equal than previously suggested. I think he's a must grab in virtually any league, as there is a substantial possibility he could wind up the starter.

It's very similar to the Denver situation in my mind. The guy who's starting now may not be starting in a week...or he could be starting for 10 weeks. You can make a strong argument for the following: "If you can't get both, don't get either."

Having said that, I do like Morency more long-term. Lundy may be starting...hell, he may even be the "starter" for a good piece of the year....but I don't know that Morency won't be as productive. Fact remains that right now Morency's the better blocker so that will get him third down appearances at the least. I landed both guys(one with my final draft pick and the other off the wire), and while I'm not counting on either guy perse, I think one of them will at least be good for bye week coverage if they get the reps. Maybe more if things break right.

Dayne clouds the issue there just a bit, but I'm a believer that Dayne is what he is......not a very good pro running back, so I doubt he's much of a factor without injuries. Houston needed a body and he was known to the coach.

Definitely. There was a nice blurb in SI this week saying how basically, Morency has all kind of talent. If he adapts to Kubiak's cut and go running plan, he may very well take over for Lundy and not look back.
