Mountain Man to be activated from the Practice Squad (1 Viewer)

#broncos running back Jeremiah Johnson has been told he'll be activated off practice squad for Sunday's game.http://twitter.com/#!/PostBroncos/statuses/114766635524562945This could have future fantasy implications should he get in the game and do well. He's got some skills.
Was impressed by him this summer, surprised he was cut in the first place. Lucky for Denver he wasn't claimed, I think he could surprise some people if he gets any meaningful snaps.

thought the same exact thing....he showed some skills and emotion this preseason on his runs...wouldn't be surprised to see him hang around and produce..

Would love to see what he can do in real action. Not that I'm wishing Moreno to stay hurt, but I honestly think Johnson could be a better (maybe much better) inside runner than him if given the opportunity.

Hey, whattya expect from someone with Dan Blocker as his avatar? ;)
When Bonanza moved onto the Warner Lot, their stage was very near the building called the Mill. Every day, he would walk into the Labor Department in the Mill to use their men’s room, comment on how hot it was, and ask if someone could toss him a cold soda on his way out. This went on for months and months. It got so the guys in the labor department would get up to get him his drink before he even asked. One day he came in and saw a guy jump-to, so he said, “You don’t have to get me the soda, I’ll get it. Where’s the fridge?” The department didn’t have a fridge. Each day someone would ride a bike all the way to the commissary and get a cold bottle of soda. The next day, a large refrigerator with a huge red bow was delivered to the Labor Department. When they opened the fridge it was filled to the hilt with soda. Then Dan walked in, headed for the bathroom, commented on how hot it was outside, and asked if someone could toss him a cold soda on the way out. While filming episodes of Bonanza, Hoss would repeatedly forget to take his Rolex wrist watch off before going to the set, and at first they'd be halfway through a scene before someone would notice. At first the director would kindly point out to Hoss his error, but it happened so often that the director became impatient with him and would really give him hell. Hoss finally seemed to get the point and days went by without him once wearing his watch during filming. One day, during a filming, someone noticed that Hoss had his watch on again. The director yelled, "God dammit, Dan, your watch!" Hoss yelled, "It won't happen again!" Pulled his watch off, threw it on the ground and stomped it into pieces. Of course, the rest of the cast stood with their mouths hanging open because Hoss's watch was a Rolex. Hoss, seeing their reactions, burst into laughter, which only confused the cast further. It turned out that Hoss had planned the whole thing and had bought a ten dollar knockoff for the occasion.

No, just a brief moment of tribute :boxing: ...and to respond to that poster who made a Blocker comment.

Back to football.

Anyone who thinks Knowshon Moreno can't be unseated is fooling themselves. We know McGahee is starting, but should Johnson get a "real" chance, he could keep Moreno on the bench. Moreno definitely doesn't fall into the category of a starter who can't lose his postion. I'm not saying that will happen, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

He's got Lance Ball in front of him too. This is no slight to Cecil, but we've seen him get real excited about backs that have a really hard time latching on anywhere (Gartrell Johnson and Jalen Parmele to name two). Jeremiah Johnson did not wow in any of the preseason games and even if active he's still third on the DC with Moreno out.If you have guys that are truly just wasting space on a dynasty team, I'd consider adding him, but just because there is this piece of good news (which BTW only came about because of injuries) does not mean he is anywhere close to seeing meaningful time or being fantasy relevant. Hell, he just became barely relevant to his own real-life team today.IMO situation bears watching, but not action just yet. I thought about adding him by dropping McCluster in my dynasty league and couldn't bring myself to do it.

Is this guy worth a stash in deep redraft leagues?
he might be....this is a good shot for him.....he is familiar with the system/game plan....if he gets hot when he gets his chance he might be the main guy for the rest of the year....he just really needs to take advantage of this opportunity at home against the Bengals.....biggest hurdle might be that Ball might get the first crack after McGahee.....JJ should be looking at this as a possible career changing moment.....he should run hard...the fans in Denver, the coaching staff, and the rest of the team are looking for something to latch onto right now, to get excited about....especially with all the Tebow crap...JJ could be the guy...I realize there is a reason he was on the practice squad, but I don't think Ball is as talented....was really surprised JJ wasn't picked up by another team....if you have room it might be worth the stash, because if he has a good game and you have low priority on the waiver wire next week you may not be able to get him....if I am a Moreno owner, I am all over this kid right now....

That is what I am worried about. He has a good game Sunday and everyone else will be after him. Low risk, high reward type of move. Ball is also a FA in my league.

Great story Hoss, I for one found it interesting. I wish we had a little more of this stuff once in awhile.

When will MFL put him on the DEN roster? I can't add NFL FAs.
What a crappy rule that is. If they are in the player DB you should be able to add them. Hell, we allow players not listed to be added as long as they are in the NFL (practice squad, etc.).
Step 1: Stare at screen.Step 2: Hit "refresh" on your browser.Step 3: Repeat.

its not a rule. its a commissioner setting on mfl

Could someone post in here when MFL adds him as a RB for DEN? There are only so many hamstring pulls 1 team can handle and Moreno is approaching that number.

Sounds like nothing more than an insurance move to add an extra RB with Moreno being out. As he didn't generate any buzz even in the preseason, tough to get excited about him.

It's a rule if the commissioner doesn't change the setting on MFL. I'm a commissioner on 2 MFL leagues and I don't prevent owners from adding players designated as FA (not officially on the active roster).

Im saying perhaps its not a rule in this guys league, maybe the commish just never changed the setting

Guys have different roles, it happens all the time...hell just last year Blount was cut and Tenn tried to put on the practice squad and now he's a starter. The opportunity is there for someone to potentially step up so I'm definitely interested. If you've got a spot with a crappy wr5 taking up space in a deeper league pick him up for a week or two and see what happens. If he goes in and gets some carries and looks good he'll be a top WW pick and you might not get him. Preemptive pickups like these can be key if you've got a dead spot on your roster.

you must not have paid attention the Bronco Camp thread
Admittedly, I did not, but the coaching staff obviously valued Lance Ball, who we have seen enough of, more than JJ. If you have any professional assessments, pass 'em along, please. :) His preseason game logs looks very pedestrian ( though that can be said for the whole RB-squad ), and the fact that this is his 3rd team in his short career and nobody has even seen fit to give this guy a game jersey tells me that they've seen something(s) that the fantasy scouts who are high on him haven't. That said, one of those teams was Carolina, so it would be no small feat to leapfrog onto the gameday roster.

Anyway, I know Cecil is high on him, but what else do we have? If there's evidence suggesting I should boot Karim, Carter or Antonio Brown from my redraft roster, then I'm happy to. :)

He's third on the depth chart. I'd be shocked if he saw more than a few carries. But if he gets in the field he's got a chance. Trouble is in preseason against backups he didn't show much at all. Will be interesting to see IF he gets on the field.

No, you do not drop Karim, Carter, or Antonio Brown for JJ. However, you would drop Karim for JJ should the opportunity arise. I'm a big beliver in Carter and Brown long term in dynasty leagues. More Carter than Brown.

One thing you're not taking into consideration is what he does with those few carries. If he does well they could transcend into more carries and the snowball affect. That is how nobody becomes somebody.

NFL teams make RB3/4 roster decisions as much on special teams ability as anything else. Lance Ball is likely a better special teamer than JJ; the fact that he was rostered ahead of Johnson does not mean he would get first crack at RB minutes, or that he would do more with them.
